  • Today we’re talking about mood disorders, specifically depression, as it relates to changes in estrogen - like in times of perimenopause and menopause!
Depression can creep up on us out of the blue, and can range in symptoms and severity (like sleeping all the time or not sleeping at all, feeling weepy, and sad, irritable, or even suicidal).
Our mood changes don’t have to be severe to be a problem! No one talks about the fact that up to 20% of women experience mood disorders while in peri menopause. I believe that women deserve the best education possible to understand their health and hormones, so they can be the best version of themselves.
Let’s dive into how estrogen works, how it can affect our serotonin levels, and how it can be used to help with depression symptoms!

Super helpful! I was told by my PCP that I could do an SSRI. I denied that and now seeing a hormone specialist but I get the anger, depression, etc every month. So praying to get some relief! 😊
