    I have been on bios for 18 years. I take them cyclically. I am currently listening to a lot of Hormone doctors on RUclips and you are the very first one that I have heard say we need progesterone from any other things outside of our uterus. This is profound for me because I have been thinking how absurd it is to tell a woman that if she does not have a uterus, she does not need progesterone. In my view, we need all of our hormones to work synergistically together to have the best outcome. Would love to hear your thoughts on what I’ve just stated.

    WHY did you not state progestins are cancer causing? Please share WHY you would choose NOT to state this most important feature of progestins? WHY?

    • @DrAlexandraMayer
      @DrAlexandraMayer 22 дня назад

      I did not state that because it’s inflammatory and would minimize the entire picture. For example a recent meta analysis showed that lifestyle factors increase risk for cancer more than even the worst form of HRT with progestins. That said, for risk bioidentical hormones are in my opinion what we should use. Hope that helps.

    • @grayisthenewblonde
      @grayisthenewblonde 11 дней назад

      @@DrAlexandraMayer I understand your reasoning. It does not make it right. It is well known and well documented that progestins are known to cause breast cancer. The medical community has known this for decades. It is also well-known and well-documented that progesterone which our body makes protects against breast cancer. To recap: Progesterone protects AGAINST cancer while progestins CAUSE cancer. For you not to disclose this very important distinction to women so they can make informed decisions is...well…

    I was diagnosed osteoporosis/osteopenia with 46 and I take the pill Jazmin since 12 years! Doctor sent me a blood test including FSH, and estrogen progesterone among ferritin and other values I don’t know (osteoporosis related) I stopped the pill for 12 days and got the bleeding in between and when ended I made the test. I wanna add I have endometriosis.. I take the pill non stop so I don’t have periods since a while and make breaks sometimes. Will the estrogen and progesterone be wrong then? This is maybe to check if I’m menopausic .. orthopedist sent me. I’m curious whether I have the perimenopause as well because I get hot flashes but weird because I take Jasmin so why I get them? 😢 I need to gynecologist to test this separately I guess?

    • @DrAlexandraMayer
      @DrAlexandraMayer Месяц назад

      These are all good questions that would need to be answered by your labs and a doctor is well versed in hormones in women. That said, it makes sense that your birth control isn’t helping your hot flashes. Birth control does not adequately raise hormones enough to help with symptoms related to menopause, and it definitely will not help (and will likely make worse) osteoporosis. Birth control is NOT and should never be given as an adequate replacement for hormone replacement. Hope that helps!

I’m sure your info is great and you seem incredibly intelligent, but I think you should try relaying it in a way that people who aren’t doctors can understand. Two uninformed healthcare providers nudged me off HRT when I turned 60. In addition to many of the predictable symptoms of menopause, I had terrible lateral hip pain at night. The hip on the side I was sleeping on would feel frozen (stuck). It was painful to turn over. Combined with night sweats, I couldn’t sleep due to pain. The tendons over my patellas began to hurt when I went up or down stairs or hills. I had increasing pain when walking (and I walk/hike a lot), and my feet began to ache terribly. I began to feel very unstable in walking due to pain in my legs. Because I experienced lateral hip pain in perimenopause, I felt pretty sure my musculoskeletal pain was estrogen-related. I did see a physical therapist for several months for my hip pain during perimenopause, but despite exercises and a variety of modalities, it didn’t get better. I went on HRT relatively early in perimenopause and the hip pain resolved, though I didn’t connect the pain to perimenopause at the time and no healthcare professionals suggested a link. It’s taken nearly 4 months to get a healthcare professional to help me get back on HRT. My hot flashes/night sweats are mostly resolved after two and a half weeks of transdermal estrogen and my body feels a little better, but I think the musculoskeletal issues will take much longer to resolve. I hope there’s nothing permanent about this. Going off HRT ruined my health in every way for nearly a year. And it was completely unnecessary.

      I’m sorry you’re going through that! Unfortunately so many women end up getting bad advice simply because their provider isn’t current on research. Current research does not support nudging patients off of HRT at a certain age or after a certain amount of time. That is outdated advice. It’s also very frustrating that it took you that long to find a provider to help you after you were taken off. I sincerely hope that changes and we can give women better medicine. SHBG is nearly non-existent, and testosterone is just below the optimal range. Is that still PCOS, or could this be something else? 44 this year, female, been the same for 5 years. Hoping for direction, thx.

      Thank you so much for watching! I can't give any specific medical advice via social media. If I were you I would establish with someone who has expertise in hormones in your area. They will be able to marry your labs and symptoms and get you results. Hope that helps!

    😲💯 3:50 *_Dear God! Christ sakes this explains a lot about me, my siblings and my dad's physiology; I am showing this to my sister_* . *_To think my greatest strength DHT is linked to my greatest weakness, aka, insulin resistance is mindboggling_* . *_Clearly the complexity goes even deeper, but to know that is the iceberg, my mind is fascinated an confounded as to the geniune scale of that iceberg_* .

      It is like how the sickle cell trait forces my muscles to adapt to a deoxygenated environment, the clear adaption is more type-2 muscle fibers because they are anaerobic adapt. Not aerobic adapt [aka, oxygen dependent]. A Achilles's hill trait because, it will be devastating to me and my future wife's future kids if she has the trait.

    Hi, I don’t have acne or oily skin and my periods have always been perfectly regular, but I’ve started to get hirsutism! What does that even mean? The only other symptom I have is that I get very irritable and aggressive sometimes, does that mean that it’s a testosterone level or could aggression be from another hormone? Please help 😢
