Totally disrespectful parents,(imo). Narcissists believe no laws/rules, apply to them. :/ They failed their son, by not getting him professional help, LONG before he shot his fellow students. Furthermore, his own mother bought him (a minor), the gun he used to kill his classmates. Mom & dad DID break MI Law, by providing their minor (and psychotic), son, a firearm. Parents (and son), were rightly charged and are all where they belong, (imho).

Perhaps he thought this was a way for him to get his mom to put aside everything else she was doing and to focus more on her damn son in hopes that she would spend more time with him instead of leaving him alone at home all the time. But I don’t believe he was genuinely hallucinating like everybody else thinks. I think he just wanted his mom’s attention that he desperately lacked and was tired of being home alone as a result. There’s a 5 year old video of him playing hide and seek with a friend, he located his friend, and jokingly pretended that he was a demon and that friend was also playing along, acting like he was a demon and playfully attacking Ethan. I know what you're saying and I acknowledge you said "almost"and I'm not trying to just be argumentative, but I cannot feel sorry for him. Not even almost.
He didn't shoot one person and then stop. He didn't just kill one person and then stop. He killed 4 people, aiming for chest/neck/head areas and continued to shoot 7 more people. He had to have reloaded at least once as several people were shot multiple times. He clearly enjoyed the horrific act he was committing enough to continue to shoot others over and over. That's unforgivable regardless of his own personal circumstances.
It is also a "correlation isn't causation" matter. Thousands, perhaps even millions of kids with parents just as bad or even much worse than the shooter, who also have access to guns and have mental health issues themselves still do not choose to wantonly execute others in the all too common "school shooting" scenario.
Is the shooter's home life unfortunate? Sure. Does he deserve my pity for how he chose to lash out at others that never harmed him and violently murder them in their school for simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time? Nope.
Millions of kids play violent video games but don't go out and kill others compared to those that do. Millions of kids have bad parents but also don't harm others as a result. This is an issue with the shooter being a psychopath that clearly wanted to destroy the lives of others and in the process destroyed his own humanity. The person the shooter may have been prior to killing 4 other kids no longer exists.
I hope he never leaves prison regardless of being 15. He shouldn't ever have the freedom he stole from the 4 kids he violently murdered not to mention the 7 people he injured and left so many families shattered forever. The parents of the murdered children will forever bear the pain to which his own potential pain from his poor home life would pale in comparison.
Those parents and relatives of the murdered kids will spend the rest of their lives in the symbolic prison the shooter put them in, therefore he should never leave the literal prison society will put him in.

@@W8RIT1 I appreciate what you're saying but "evil" is just a man-made concept, and a poor one at that. It's a scapegoat for the actions of others, a way to explain the inexplicable, to comprehend the unthinkable. It's not a real thing, it's just a story we tell ourselves to make temporary sense of an often senseless reality.
I don't even subscribe to the notion of true *free will" because it's been demonstrated that so many of our actions are governed and determined by the vast complexities of our brains, neurotransmitters, and other such activity which we still don't fully grasp. Therefore I do not hate the shooter. But I do not feel sorry for him either. Nor do I hate or feel sorry for the Ted Bundys and the Jack the Rippers of the world. Perhaps they do not truly have a choice but they seem to revel in their actions nonetheless and once any of us crosses that line of harming, and especially killing others, it's like we have killed ourselves too. We've killed our humanity so there's no one left to hate or feel sorry for. They're just an untrustworthy shell of their former self. They're dead, we just have to wait for their body to catch up and prevent it from harming anyone else.
I also don't buy that the shooter was really asking for help but rather trying to "foreshadow" his crime to make it more memorable, to make it more chilling to look back on the warning signs, to feel like he was teasing others with this fleeting opportunity to intervene in a tragedy he was orchestrating that he had no intention of being stopped. These fragile, egomaniacal psychopaths act out their crimes for attention and a sense of fame, even if it's based in infamy. They get off on knowing so many will finally know their name by destroying the lives of others and artificially rendering themselves to feel less insignificant than they apparently do.
I don't feel any more or less sorry for this shooter than I do for psychopaths like Elliot Rodger for example, who lashed out at society, stabbing and shooting his many victims, brutally killing them because he believed he was given an unfair deal and because no females would give him the attention, especially sexual attention, he craved but could not obtain because he was clearly an unlikable person and chose not to work on himself, to create a better person within but rather to destroy others because it was easier.
I focus my pity and empathy on the actual victims of the world. Those that never chose to harm others and had their lives affected, especially permanently, by those that didn't have the strength to resist the primitive human temptation to be so reactionary and try to make the lives of others so much worse than their's so that their lives seem better by comparison.

Sorry but being a absent parent isn’t against the law. Most lawyers that I have listened to regarding the parents and their charges think that they will not be able to prove all the elements of the crimes they’ve been charged with. The only problem for them is that if this does go to trial, the jury pool has been tainted and I don’t think they can get a fair trial unless they get a change of venue. I think the judge should drop the charges before an indictment. It’s not a crime to back your car in, or to take $ from a minor child’s bank account you are listed on, or to not check your child’s search history, plus they do not have a law specifying the locking up of a gun in the state their home is in. They had also not been charged yet so it wasn’t a crime not to provide all phone numbers to police. Saying that Ethan was “hallucinating” by texting his mom saying that he was hearing noises and thinks someone is in the home, can also be explained by saying he’s a kid and afraid to be home alone or that he’s joking like my daughter does. I think he was a very disturbed kid and I think his parents were bad parents, not deserving of kids, and woefully ignorant when it came to recognizing those red flags, but that’s also not the standard for being held criminally negligent.

What? You don't face charges AFTER trial moron 🤦they are on trial for manslaughter which they DID NOT commit if u actually heard the facts of the case presented so far and knew the law.

It's fascinating to watch the parents reactions as the prosecution lays out the case. When their expressions are the same but particularly when they are different. These people aren't even on the same page about what literally happened when they talk about the school meeting. She's nodding her head and he's shaking his. About the same facts.

Increase bond to $5M/parent unless more harmful information is learned.

I’m a very compassionate person and I rarely judge people. But I have no sympathy whatsoever for these parents. Their ignorance and neglect is inexcusable!!!!!! These people are the lowest of the low.

The attorney says, prosecution is trying to create conflict between them, and states “your honor there are no conflicts 🤔

Parents ARE responsible for their minor child! They were negligent when they left the school that day! 4 innocent children were murdered.
