      Yet many people think it's a good idea to force women who know they are not fit to be parents to carry out a pregnancy and give birth to a child they are not prepared to care for properly. They use a flimsy argument of adoption as a option yet what they don't like to tell people is that many states discourage adoption even force woman to spend several days with the infant before they are able to sign over rights. Giving a child up for adoption isn't a lack of love for the child, it's the ultimate love, to know that you can't give them the life you want for them and give them up so they have a better life is a selfless act. To force them to spend time with a baby is cruel and manipulation. Try to remember this as we see that most children in the justice system are the products of poor home life. Try to think of the increasing burden on our society as more children are forced to exist in a environment not prepared to care for them properly... we often say that some people should not have children but when a woman tells us that she shouldn't have a child we say we know better...

When all day it was obvious that LE was looking for them. It took LE finding them and arresting them - to even make these court appearances this morning. Otherwise - they would still be in that basement !! I have zero sympathy for their attorneys. It seems that they were pleading with the court that they did not know what was going on. Total BS. My thinking is that these attorneys knew the parents were scared and hiding. However it still took a huge amount of resources to find them last night. The parents were hiding out and looking for the next best move. The lawyers were helping them.

If we are going to throw the book, throw the book at everyone who could have prevented this and DIDNT, including teachers and staff who knew about what he had done earlier in the day (the drawing of a gun, person being shot, bullet and the insane things he wrote on it) and still allowed him back into class to kill and attempt to kill his classmates and teachers.

      @@emmy4030 They're charged with manslaughter and not as accessories to murder precisely because the prosecutors don't believe they intended to get anyone killed. But the law doesn't need you to intend to kill people to convict of manslaughter. All the prosecution needs to prove is that the parents did egregious things that endangered the community, and that were so absurd, any reasonable person could have seen this tragedy coming. Buying your child a weapon (a felony) and leaving that weapon unsecured (criminal negligence) will get them convicted. A reasonable parent wouldn't buy a suicidal and homicidal child a gun. They're clearly not reasonable. But they are guilty. That's why the word "involuntary" is in the charge. No one thinks they expected children to be shot, but their unreasonable actions lead to it, that's involuntary manslaughter. To try to hold the school officials and teachers as accountable is silly. Perhaps they have some accountability, but at the end of the day these parents put this gun in their mentally ill child's hand, and DID NOT follow advice from the school to get him help.

First, they claim the couple didn't flee (even though they couldn't get in touch with them, and the parents had to be fully aware the police were looking for them.) Then they bizarrely claim their own malpractice to be at fault? Talk about falling on the sword for your client. To admit as a murder defense attorney that you're so unqualified for the job you didn't even know when an arraignment was? Yikes. Think it's far more likely everyone knew exactly when they were supposed to be where and the parents were trying to flee. For the defense attorney to claim their own incompetence to try to divert that fact is... insane... and honestly, exactly the level of counsel these people deserve.

I think it's far more likely they couldn't get in touch with their clients, didn't know what to do, stalled by claiming they knew they'd be leaving and told them they intended to hand themselves in, then tried a bizarre tactic of blaming too much media coverage for not knowing when to turn themselves in when they were found. At the end of the day, no jury is gonna believe this defense. I just find it very very unusual and frankly amusing to see a defense attorney try to claim their own malpractice to avoid the fact their client tried to flee.

    It doesn’t matter if the gun was buried a mile under the ground, it was still used to kill people. The owner of the gun is always partially at fault. Gun ownership is a huge responsibility and not to be taken lightly, ever.

    • @SpecialBlanket
      @SpecialBlanket 2 года назад

      Really-- so if you owned a gun and buried it A MILE UNDER THE GROUND and someone dug down there and stole it, you would be at fault? I don't think so. You have to take reasonable precautions at that's it. There's no law against owning a gun when you have a child.

    • @drawer6815
      @drawer6815 2 года назад +7

      @@SpecialBlanket You buy the gun, it’s your responsibility. If you want to get rid of the gun, it’s your responsibility to properly dispose of the gun so it can no longer be used, or legally sell it to someone else who will take the responsibility. You’re not just supposed to leave guns just lying around all willy-nilly no matter what. If you have a gun locked up in your home and it’s stolen, you’re supposed to report it to the police immediately. Why? Because THE GUN IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY! If it’s buried and someone finds it and kills someone with it, the police are going to come knocking at your door at some point and ask you how YOUR gun got into the hands of someone else. However it got into their hands, it’s still your responsibility. You’re part of the reason why someone was killed whether you like to think so or not.
