I bought an FD 10 years ago and the apex seals blew at 60k as if on cue, even though I thought I was caring for it. Swapped to a LS1 motor and never had any problems since. It became the scariest, and most awesome car I ever drove.

I have a temperature gauge on my CBR600F4i which I pretty much ride 90% time in stop start traffic. Wowee when it hits 122 celsius am I glad when the fans turn on. Never used to worry about temps on my air cooled GS500F - I just looked forward to getting home before my legs caught fire
You're not wrong about the gauges, cars that come with tire pressure monitoring systems that give actual tire pressure down to the tenths of a PSI people always bring those into the shop whenever the temperature changes slightly
I think first time I read about FD getting an LS swap is around 10-11 years ago, when I read an article about Mark Corbett's FD. And it did quite well in the Ultimate Street Car Challenge.

Lotus most of these old RX-7s are dead by now, rotary engines are not long life engines, LS fits inside of anything, put two and two together and you find dropping in the LS to be cheaper then finding a replacement motor for this car.

Don't exactly know your experience with the motor but I can assure you that a rotary lives longer than that. Mine lasted 110,000 miles or 177,000 km, before a rebuild was required and it costed me 3,500 in total to get it rebuilt, it was an REW 13b
+Makaio Salazar 110K is not a long life, thats a *short* one, in today's engines, most of the big V8s will hit 250-350K before they need any sort of rebuild other then simple maintance

Because the LS engines are plentiful, reliable, relatively inexpensive engines that don't weigh a lot and take up very little room. Doritos are neat, but when you get tired of their issues, the LS is arguably one of the most practical options. All of the other common swap choices, (2J, SR, K, EJ,) will change the sound and characteristics of the car, so no matter what you swap into your RX, you'll make someone mad.

I was told some ware in the early 80.s instruments changed and only move in 3 to 4 moves.The reason being gauges that move all the time was considered a driving distraction.I have my own reasons

I love how upset people get over these engine swaps. Both are sweet motors. One just makes a bit more power a bit more easily.
Because the RX7 has rotary in its name, Rotary Experiment 7. The car was built around the engine and not the other way around thats why its shitty to do, especially with these gaining value.
I get it bro. But of all the motors I hardly think this is a bad option. I'd keen mine with a rotor for sure, but I still don't get why it's such a crime. It's his car, he can do with it what he will. Will it affect long term value? Maybe. Is he enjoying it? Hope so!

I don't understand the anger about swaps like this, who cares? It's not like they're extremely rare super exotic cars or anything, and even if they were my point stands, who cares? Dudes got the right to do what he wants with his car and spend his money on it how he sees fit. LS swap whatever the fuck you want it literally has no effect on my life whatsoever and it's cool to see engines that aren't supposed to be in a car in them anyway.
