    What different resize and upscaling?
    Is that looks same thing in Hybrid.GUI🤔

    • @DaGoose
      @DaGoose  2 года назад +1

      Resize is for lowing the resolution from the source resolution whereas upscaling is increasing the resolution from the source resolution.

    What version of waifu2x is injected? Ncnn Vulkan or Caffe. Also if you're informed, what would be the maximum core count (CPU) as I'll probably get a dual socket mobo but don't want to overkill it. I'm just trying to build the most suitable spec system for this program as I use it all the time. I upscale X interpolate movies to 2k/4k with additional filter settings (hevc-slow preset, constant rate factor) which maxes out a 2700x, I've read that 32 core is the sweet spot for ffmpeg but not sure. It seems that resolution upscaling is the bottleneck of a one pass run so based on the waifu2x version what would be an efficient NVIDIA gpu (power and cost efficient) say a 3060 bc of its vram. Also I noticed that the threads option Increases vram usage along with its value, does that still throw errors if there is enough vram?

      Waifu2x in EncodeGUI uses the NCNN implementation because it’s the fastest. As far as CPU core count goes, the more the better. though i’ve had someone use a 32 core threadripper and complained that it wasn’t using it 100%. i couldn’t confirm this because they were using task manager to monitor the usage (which is terrible for that purpose) but regardless all cores were active based on the screenshots they sent. there could also be limitations for different codecs in ffmpeg (they were using AVC when they complained). I don’t have any processor near 32 cores and i won’t be getting one like that until for a while just because of costs. So a lot of this is a mystery to me too.
      For GPUs, definitely look at the RTX 40 series. they are super efficient and fast. They also have the largest amount of tensor cores which will boost the AI upscaling and interpolation speeds hugely. VRAM shouldn’t be much of a concern. I can get away with 8K upscaling and encoding in EncodeGUI with 6GB VRAM and it’ll only use 2/3 of the total available VRAM.
      Your CPU RAM is what matters the most. the 8k upscaling + encoding in EncodeGUI actively used about 18GB of system RAM so you’ll want a bear minimum of 24GB of RAM if not even 32GB for better overhead.

    "Worker thread" i found it in many players and encoders (like a check box option or an ffmpeg argument) what is it ? and can it speed up my processes

    • @DaGoose
      @DaGoose  2 года назад

      It’s just a call to run ffmpeg in the background (no terminal shown)

      yes, but using placebo is stupidly slow. Very slow has comparable quality to placebo but is much faster

    Hey bro, what's your opinion on the most suitable GPUs for encodegui, I have an rx 590 and plan on getting a 2nd although I kind of want to go NVIDIA, are quadros worth it?

    • @DaGoose
      @DaGoose  2 года назад +1

      I only have two GPUs to test it on (RTX 3060, GTX 1080), so i wouldn’t be good to do that type of review.

    • @mudzy9820
      @mudzy9820 2 года назад

      @@DaGoose I ask because I am running the rx 590 and a 1050ti atm, both with up to date drivers (amd + nvidia) it was abit buggy trying to get the encoder working I had to knock a few settings around (590 for interpolation 1050ti for resolution). I'm just wondering if low Vram usage(0.6GB) on the 1050 is normal, or would u consider that a driver conflict. It's gonna take 8 days for something that should take 1or2 the max on my system i5 4570.....

    • @DaGoose
      @DaGoose  2 года назад +1

      it depends on what you’re upscaling, what interpolation setting you applied as well as upscaling settings. Neither GPUs have Tensor cores so AI processes are going to be very slow, especially for upscaling.

      @@arifrain5906 i would suggest trying again but open task manager to monitor the wireless communication. if you see constant dips in the data transfer then your connection is definitely unstable. as far as fixing that all i can suggest is try using a wired ethernet connection instead [assuming] you’re on a wireless connection currently.
