Good job, lots of useful info and it's cool to hear about how you experience the world! I was diagnosed a couple years ago with autism and ADHD, so I'm still making sense of it. It feels less lonely to hear about the life of other autistic people with similar symptoms.
Hey! I just found your channel and was wondering how you went about getting diagnosed? I’m someone who doesn’t really “match” the autistic stereotype. I’m suspicious that I’ve just kind of been brushed off as having anxiety and depression when I know deep down inside that my issues are a bit more complex. I don’t want to come across as someone who has “self diagnosed” either. I’m not really sure where to start!!
Hey! I looked up who my insurance would let me get diagnosed by! The thing that helped me the most is that I unmasked as much as I could. It’s not acting, but “un-acting” and it took me a very long time to understand how many coping mechanisms I actually have. I had to undo that, and even though I’d only figured I might’ve been autistic for 6 months at the time I was assessed, I’d realized enough that I’d have to show up as who I was and not who I’ve become. That’s the best advice I can give really, as finding a place and it being affordable is a really hard part of the process! I wish you so much luck!! And if it seems like you’re being brushed off- you probably are. Always trust your gut ❤
Regardless of whether this is work of your own, it is very clear from the way you articulate yourself that you very much grasp the material. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you're like 19, yes? Maybe 20? Regardless that's at least a decade before I even considered that I, as a white boy, might have just been autistic my entire life. Now I can't say I spend much time watching videos made by teenage girls, but I do make a habit of subbing to any and every autistic content creator I stumble across just so I can have as wide of a perspective of the spectrum as possible. Seeing people such as yourself who--from the exterior--are ostensibly from a completely different background than compared to me still recall her own thoughts as if she were sitting inside of my own head is one of the main reasons I started to seriously consider at the age of 31 that I'm autistic. By all accounts, I shouldn't relate to you on any level. It took me over three decades to decide to get a diagnosis yet only less than three months to acquire one after my initial scheduled appointment. But, to be fair, since then I have gone out of my way to find other late-diagnosed adults and help them through their even-more arduous process. In a few weeks I am going to participate in my own University's Autistic Student Panel in a similar vein to what you've presented here. My University has 40,000 students and thousands more faculty (the targeted audience is faculty) and I am intentionally going in there blind and unprepared. Granted, I will not be the only student speaker and I am limiting myself to a very specific subject: Autistic special interests and how this trait can be leveraged in our favor academically. I won't be the only one speaking, of course, as I have no intention of leaving them with the impression that we're all superhuman. Although consistently hearing fellow autistics nearly half my age such as yourself explain our mutual "disorder" to a degree that puts professional psychologists to shame most certainly paints a positive picture of us. I'm happy to have people like you in some way represent me and I'm very happy to see other autistic individuals go down the 'psychology for us, by us' route as I very much believe that it will ultimately serve as the foundation to a legitimately golden standard of treatment. Because of people like you (and I'd like to think myself, as well) ABA won't even be remembered by the next generation of practitioners.
"I'm-almost-always-wrong!" The way that you delivered that really made me giggle. Very relatable! 🤭👏
Thank you!! I still won’t let it go 😭
Can I just say I love the attention to details in your presentation editing it’s soo cool🩵🩵
IM SO HAPPY TO HEAR THIS THANK YOU!!

Rett Syndrome has a genetic cause and is no longer included with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder these days.
Thank you for letting me know!!
Your hair clips and earrings are incredible 😁
