Hey there my brother is now in his 20s and i think he is in serious autism problems all the symptoms u said he is showing plaese help me with how to controll or what to use in india no doctor were able to rectify or identify whats happening with him please do help me
Wow! I’m relieved and just in shock that I finally understand. All this time I thought I was crazy or a freak. I was suicidal and depressed for years and was slowly loosing my mind because I was calling myself crazy because of the way I was treated by people. Over the years my symptoms got more intense I guess. The people who knew me back 10 years ago and see me now look at me like they’ve seen a ghost. There’s an emptiness in my eyes if I can describe it but I don’t feel the way people perceive me. Over the years it has really affected me so I just stay to myself and I love it. I actually have little to no desire to socialize with people sad. I’m looking for a job soon please pray for me because my experiences have been bad but I’m gonna stay positive.
I dont mean to be off topic but does any of you know of a tool to get back into an Instagram account? I somehow forgot the login password. I appreciate any help you can give me.
@Bowen Fernando I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and im trying it out now. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I’m Autistic and live in almost darkness as it just calms every thing down for me , I feel like I’m bombarded with lights and noises all the time . I love my own company only , I’m not lonely ever as my imagination is vast plus I read 7/10 books a week I’m proud of myself every day as Iv made my life my life .
Every time I have encounter a child or adult who has Autism or Asperger symptoms, the one thing that always stands out (to me anyways) is that they are really simple, sweet and they have most genuine personalities ever, they don't pretend to be someone else just so that others will like them (because they don't know how to be something else) and I find that very endearing because so many people pretend to be nice, likeable, funny, smart, etc.. when they are not and should be themselves. It's amazing to see so many cases of children who are diagnose with Autism, Asperger, ADHD, etc... So please be kind and understanding.
Pretty Noona thank you for being a very nice person. My biological father made me not see my doctor as a child because I was diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome. And seeing someone who loves and accepts people with it makes me happy.
The love of my life has slight asd she passed away recently I miss her so much She was very expressive And she understood people's emotions And was really good at talking 1 to 1 However she found group conversations difficult She was such a good person and a great teacher
I used this doc herbs for my son and now my son is completely free , his speaking and behavior is ok . His herbs is 100 % working on ASD . I met Dr imenherbal on channel and I'm happy to share my experience about it.
My son has spectrum and his dad refuses to label him. So we work with him ourselves- he’s 14 and you can’t tell anymore he’s autistic. However, where his dad works on the functioning of everyday things I focus on emotional responses and humor. My son says he fakes it until he makes it. He feels all kids his age are “ignorant” but I tell him to find things to relate to .. not separate from. I also school him in how to “in the future” emotionally talk to his “future girlfriends or wife”. This is important and forgotten lessons as in my opinion even non autistic men have issues with this. My son is just so wonderful and gifted. I just hope this world embraces him.
Please do not encourage your son to mask. Reach out to #ActuallyAutistic creators on social media and RUclips to learn more about how to help your son navigate the world while also not hiding who he is.
My son is also on spectrum, he is 7 now. Im agree 100% on parents involvement and binding supernatural connection. What doctors and researchers say I’m not agree ab they have problems with listening/understanding humor etc. autistic children are very good listeners and smarter than scientists. On age of 5 he knew all countries with flags and capitals. Number Additions till billions. Human anatomy more advanced variants like a MD. He knew on age 5 more than 200 stars on galaxy. To all parents work with them, find communication. One thing I noticed they choose only one person In the family to bind that supernatural tie with. God Bless All
Most people would never realize that i have autism/asbergers. mainly because the medication i take diminishes the affects almost completely. Still, the people close to me know and they can tell when i'm having a hard time. It's good to have friends that understand you. It really helps.
Im asd 1 and medication may make you feel like it diminishes the effects almost completely but its actually that it makes you easier to be "normal" in your own way, youll never come close to someone who desent have it.
Zilhah Hadad without medication I wouldn't be able to properly function in society. I wouldn't be able to socialize in the same way I do now. I probably wouldn't have the girl of my dreams that I have now, my grades would be sub par and i'd probably drop out of high school and end up on the street, I wouldn't be able to become a lawyer like I want to be when i'm older, etc... Keep eating up that conspiracy nut propaganda, rather than taking information from someone who actually takes medication and knows how it affects them.
mpitre1000 True, however most people i'v met and even close friends of mine who spend lot's of time around me have no idea that I have aspergers and ADHD.
I have Autisim. Back when I was 3-5 years old I dealt with many of the things described in the video. Now, I'm 13 and Ive seemed to leave these symptoms behind except for a few of them. Also, Ive *never* taken medication to help me cope. It all came naturally.
I'm 47yrs old and yesterday after my daughter was diagnosed with autism, I realised this is why I have struggled all my life, and had depression and anxiety over the last 20 yrs. I need to get a diagnosis for my own sanity and will just put all the pieces together. I'm happy that my daughter will not have to go through what I have, life has been so difficult.

Have struggled all my life , no one has ever understood or helped . Now just tired being around people .Have many interests and hobbies and enjoy being alone .
I am Asperger late diagnosed adult, and have been lived my life almost as a Rockstar, on behalf of 'my abilities', but always kept in my heart the feeling of being an impostor and not being as special as everyone expects me to be, even having scientiphic's evidences of my rare 'talents'
you're lucky you don't have it and ADHD. Let alone this + ADHD + Dyslexia. All my otherwise advantages if I had one of the disorders all turn into disadvantages as a result of the other disorders.
Honestly girls with Aspergers are most likely to be misdiagnosed as Bipolar, OCD, ADHD, PTSD or Borderline Personality and the idea/diagnosis of Aspergers may be missed altogether. I'm being referred to a psychiatrist in a few weeks for Aspergers, Bipolar (or Mania), and Anxiety.
Psychiatrists, from my experience, mostly do not know what they are doing with patients. It is not their fault, but they spend way too little time with their patients to actually be able to understand them. In my opinion counselors work better. You can't understand someone that well from a few questionnaires and a 10 minute meeting. Just use the psychiatrist for the meds if you think those will be helpful.
This is ALOT of people though, honestly...girls almost never get it and since I've dealt with my brother at 2, when he was diagnosed, I've only seen one girl with it (This has been over 30 something schools and 20+ years). Alot of people saying they have it, don't honestly. It's mental and physical handicaps with it....I've even seen some people say "they are outgrowing it". It's annoying because it's almost like this is a joke...

This video did an excellent job of explaining such a complex disorder that manifests so differently in each person affected by it. As a college student, I was a nanny for a family that had a son with Autism and witnessed first hand the enormous challenge and undertaking that comes with raising a child with Autism. I think one of the most difficult things is the thought of not being able to comfort your child in natural physical ways that involve touch when they are upset.

Dear Dr Horowitz, thank you so much for your wonderful video explaining Asperger's syndrome. As a child of the late 70's who grew up in the eighties and nineties, I did not have the fortune of knowing about Aspergers until I reached adulthood. when I finally learned what I had it was like a light bulb went off. throughout school I would always test off the charts but could not stay focused in class and with the exception of art and science, would never do any of my homework. I remember in school being taken to the counselor's office and her asking what I did every night... My answer was that I sit and listen to the radio. she could not believe that I just SAT there listening to the radio and ask me over and over what I meant. finally getting it she asked "so you're telling me you just sit and listen?" As a kid I was fascinated with radio and DJ's and of course when I became older I went into radio myself, spending 16 years as an on-air personality and producer and now run my own mobile DJ service. It's interesting to watch your video with my wife because it was a list of everything that would describe me. even things I did not know to attribute to having Aspergers such as my distaste for foods with an intense taste... I especially hate ranch dressing , and difficulty with handwriting (Throughout grade school junior high and high school I struggled to use cursive because ultimately I found it difficult compared to using print.) I'm glad to know that there are people out there who are not grouping Aspergers into autism spectrum disorder and acknowledge that it is not a learning disability despite its similarity and shared traits with not only autism but nonverbal learning disorders and ADHD. Having Aspergers, while in school made my life very difficult, has enriched my life as an adult. In fact, I often say Aspergers is not a learning disability, it's a freakin super power!

Without extensive training and exposure to children with autism it will be very difficult to cover a class which has a student with this disability. However, the classroom usually has an aide assigned to assist and they are invaluable. As a long term substitute teacher, I have encountered several situations which have given me increased understanding of the challenges for the student and teacher.

It is well explained if you are an Information Technology literate individual: try being Linux 'operated' individual into Windows soporte 'world system', It will be by definition, an ugly crash wating to happen.
My friend dropped out of school in grade 9. It gave him freedom that he needed at the time, but it has really limited his options later in life. Push through if you can. Teachers have a hard job. Sharing the results of a psychological test can turn around your teachers' approach to your learning really fast if they can see there are toolboxes to help them.
@@Joseph_eterr Wow, really? My brother was diagnosed at 2......he's 21...its not a personality thing, it's actual mental retardation. It's physical AND mental abnormalities with it....if you're "outgrowing" it, you never had it...its like you were born without an arm, then it's growing back...smh
This expert does a great job describing the spectrum of Autism and breaking it down into the different behaviors. I did not realize how broad yet similar the difficulties of individuals with this disorder are. I also did not know that some were bothered by texture. Overall, a very though out and well organized video that explained a lot.

I got officially diagnosed with ASD yesterday and have been dealing with it for 2+ years. Every day is a very big struggle and I'm 16 but it takes a toll on me. There's so much good I want to do for people and the world but it has crippled me. We can't find any medications that are right for me
Technically you’ve been dealing with it your entire life. Just find a way to make it help you in the future. Find the advantages and disadvantages and work on both. It may take some time to find it but you will. Be positive and stay strong. Find a group that specialises in autism in your area, i go to a group named SAS ( specialist autism services), it helps. A bunch of Aspies and Autistics working together.
Brother. Thetes nothing wrong with you. You don't have a disorder. None of us do. Its just a different way of being. You can learn the skills you need to survive in the world without giving up who you are. You don't have a disorder you are neuro divergent. Find the Autistic community in your area or online and learn from them.
@@riverdonoghue9992 Thank you very much Robert, I appreciate your kind comment. I am now 21 and actually just got my first ever apartment last Friday and now have a service dog that helps me tremendously. Thank you again, it’s appreciated🙂
@@ImMagn3sic Hey, a beautiful person like you make the world beautiful just by existing. Keep going, I know it is not easy but I am sure you will find the strength.
They have difficulty of understanding other feelings". I don't agree on that. I have autism and I have actually a hypersensitive empathic ability. Personally I believe that the idea that autistic people can not take account of other feelings is a perverted volatile stereotype and I really feel offended by that. Yes! *Autistic people have feelings too.* Good gosh..
David Gutierrez Rojas Some of these things are generalisations. We can be hypersensitive and insensitive. Some autistics don't have emotions as you and I might know them. They literally cannot feel for other people. It is called a spectrum for a reason and I believe he said SOME... before most of his comments. Please cut him some slack as he and others like him are trying to help. I don't envy them their task as we're often the most obnoxious, self-centred, pain-in-the-proverbial people on God's earth. Use your gifts for good! :D
I mainly enjoyed this video because of the way the information was presented. I have always known about autism; however, I have never met someone with autism nor have I ever had knowledge about the Autism Spectrum Disorder. As a college student pursuing a degree in education, I am glad that I watched this video because I believe it is important for all educators to know about autism as well as learning disabilities whether they plan on teaching special education or general education.

Man, I remember accepting that I really have autism.. I noticed that people look at me differently and saying that my facial reactions are kinda weird, my eyes wander around, I rarely speak or socialize.. I once saw a video recording of me and yeah, I look exactly what an autistic person looks like.. I remember trying to act normal by fixating my eyes in something to avoid it from wandering and making no facial reaction at all to avoid looking weird.. I just end up looking like an automatic robot.. I remember being in a group presentation and this girl in my team said that she don't want me in my team because I have no emotions at all.. Lol.
That's rough. I hope you find some good friends who accept you and like you just the way you are. You are a good person and thank you for telling your experience.

I'm pretty sure I am on the spectrum, yet I have never been for the diagnosis and I am 27. First of all, I am visually impaired and so only have a small amount of site. But when I researched my condition did say that it often comes with autistic traits. I have synaesthesia. When I was younger, I couldn't understand why nobody else seem to think in the same way I did. For example, when I hear a trumpet I see the colour orange. Certain songs make me either see a colour, a memory or experience an emotion very vividly. Just hearing the number six makes me see a pinecone and hearing the number 100 makes me see a slice of Battenberg. The months aren't coloured, except July and April. April is red and July is yellow. Since I was younger I would fixate on certain things. For example, I would play on computer games that I was able to see all day long, but I don't do this any more. But now I am older and have a laptop, I am extremely attached to her. If anything happened to her like she couldn't be repaired I would actually grieve and I would never ever get over it. I would spend however much money it took to fix her. And once she is in for repair I get very anxious when she is away. I do suffer from depression and she helps me cope a lot. I have never really had many friends. At school I would mainly keep myself to myself. But even people who said they were my friends would leave me out. And I am assuming that down to me being visually impaired they assumed it would be too difficult with me needing some help. I have had that a lot. And it is hard to find a relationship because people just assume that I will be too difficult. And also downto my autistic traits. For example, I still like watching what is classed as a children's film like Matilda. I also watch grown up films as well though. I have been told by some people that I can get frustrated over what most people call little things. I don't get violent or anything I just get annoyed. If I am working on something, I will not do anything else until that is sorted out. For example, if I am writing because I love writing I write on my laptops, I even forget to stop for anything to eat. I have been told sometime when I am in a relationship, or with friendships as well, I am too clingy. And I find this very hard as I get very attached to certain people easily. The subjects I am fixated on are computers the paranormal/unexplained and dreams. I have been told off in the past because I struggle to drop things. For example when I have had an argument with a friend, I don't know when to drop it until the person says something along the lines of let's forget it now. I like routine. I am not extreme to the point where everything has to be scheduled. But if I am used to going places certain days of the week and it gets cancelled, I get annoyed about the change. One thing I have learnt to control more as I have gotten older is the fact that I can just blurt out what I think of something without considering if it may come across hurtful. But I don't realise I am doing it. For example, if I am in the room and it smells not clean I will say, somebody obviously hasn't had a wash lately. Or if I am at someone's house And I don't like the Music I will say, what the hell is this rubbish? I have had to learn to train myself to make sure I think before I say something. As I don't mean to offend anyone. I have two very good friends. I like to go out and socialise sometimes, but I do not like to be out all the time like most people seem to. I have to have a lot of my own space. I will go to a party now and again, but to give an examples. When I lived residential at college a few years ago, I would choose to stay in my room on tulip rather than go to the party. I love to learn. I do what some people would call obsessive learning but this isn't all the time. Sometimes I will read the main page of Wikipedia or press the random article button. I was called a geek for this a lot. But when it comes to computers, I will read the troubleshooting guide just for the enjoyment of reading it. Whereas most people only google something specific. I would love to repair computers and that is the only job I am interested in ever doing. But people assume that because I am visually impaired I wouldn't be able to do it. With the software I use a screenreader. With the hardware side, I could use my other senses and learn by touch. It makes me angry how so many people assume visually impaired people can't do anything. With meals I eat in a certain order, but this isn't with everything. Where as most people stop watching children's programs at eight, I didn't stop watching the Bear in the big blue house until I was 14. I am debating whether to go for the diagnosis as I am very sure I am on the spectrum but people have often got funny with me about things I actually can't help. And when people in the past have ditched me, it affects me much much worse than it would affect someone who is nonautistic people, because all people can seem to say to me is just move on. As if it is so easy But if I was to get the diagnosis, would it benefit me or not? Because they wouldn't be able to help me anyway. Another thing I forgot to write here is, I have an extremely vivid memory. I remember almost everything that happened since I was three years old. And I remember certain specific dates that things happened From doing more research into the synaesthesia, the excellent memory is a benefit of the synaesthesia. I see that as an amazing gift. But when it comes to the other traits, it really brings me down how I seem to be so mis understood and no one seems to want to be with me or anything. Yet everybody else has already found their soulmate younger than me. I just feel so alone
To beat yourself up on things that you cannot control. I recently been diagnosed with adhd and I’m 46. Just remember that you are not alone and many people go through this. Have a good day
hey brother. its too many words to address. but 2 things. you like to get really into what your doing and not stop until your satisfied youv done enough... yeh it shows. second bear in the big blue house fucking rules dont stress about it. if you pick that show back up today i wont be mad.
Sunday September 11th 2022 Hello Dr. Sheldon Horowitz ! I am so glad to find you again ! Approximately 25 minutes ago I subscribed to this channel because I was looking for information on Asperger’s ! Your information was greatly appreciated ! Afterwards I went in search of the difference between Autism and Asperger’s and I found one female doctor whose thumb nail was what I was looking for but it turned out that she talked about medical coverage and I was upset because I felt she should have put her title as MEDICAL COVERAGE FOR ASPERGERS ! Then I saw another video which left me thinking that everything in this on this entire planet was Autistic in one form or another ! I keep looking and found you ! Now I understand the difference between Autism and Asperger’s ! You are a GREAT TEACHER ! Thank you ! From Boqueron Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 ! ❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍👍👍😊😊😊

I really liked the way this expert explained Autism Spectrum Disorder. Now I know specific difficulties in each area that a child with Autism faces. It is very interesting about the "savant like skills". It is amazing how gifted a child can be with Autism. They could be so gifted that the average person could never measure up to that skill.
It's interesting just flicking down to a few comments on this video because when I listened to it I too disagreed on some comments made. But when I thought about my disagreement, which I might add left me feeling a degree of frustration, I realised that it wasn't the characteristics of autism I was disagreeing with, it was the use of the pronoun 'they'. The use of 'they' in this video should serve as a lesson to all of us when talking about autism particulary in an educational setting. Between 1994 and 2013, research was conducted and clinical experience considered which resulted in the DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) adopting 'Autistic Spectrum Disorder' (ASD), as the preferred and most appropriate name to use when referring to those displaying the core characteristics of autism. Whilst I agree that autism is indeed a spectrum of conditions which are all linked with one's nuerological development, the adopted term 'ASD' tends to inadvertently group all people in one diagnosable condition called 'Autism'. From an academic and clinical perspective this is crystal clear and based on sound rationale, but from the observer's and also the autistic individual's perspective the use of ASD can present several risks, which personally I don't think have been mitigated in an efficient manner. Risk 1 - in educating others on the condition, like this video, it would be easy to use 'they' when referring to people with autism. This is very misleading. A fundamental fact about autism is that no two people with the condition are the same. It's a little like putting a number agaisnt each of the 3 lists above in this video, then putting all the different numbers into a small bag, shaking the bag and then asking 100 people to blindly pull out 5 numbers. The odds are that each of the 100 people would pull out a different set of numbers. So by using 'they' we inadvertently create the illusion to the observer or student with limited exposure to the condition, of the same series of numbers from each of the 100 people, it risks educating people incorrectly. Risk 2 - owing to the inherent characteristics of the cindition, autistic people could actually become confused, dismissive of the academic system or even angry, leading many to question the research between 1994 and 2013 which was clearly compelling enough to merit a change of discriptor for people with autism. The learning here for all of us is to take care with how we talk about autism. It's not now, it never has been and it never will be a one size fits all condition. So it begs the question, "was the adoption of ASD as a discriptor based on the nuerological development of the condition or based on (1) the many millions of people we aspire to educate about the condition and also (2) the emotional impact on the many thousands in the UK with the condition. Let's take care how we talk about the beautiful nature of those with autism. We are individuals just like everyone else. Many thanks to the Dr who delivered this video.

This was very descriptive! I understand now why there are still plenty of people that don't understand the facts and different types of Autism. I appreciate the chart showing the different complications people with AU may deal with. I have dealt with plenty of children with special needs and I have noticed all of these characteristics. I am very familiar with Asperger's Syndrome but most people just refer to it as highly functional autism like the speaker stated in his presentation.
I have ASD. I get annual reviews because of this to see how I'm doing, and I'm getting A's in behaviour, A's-C's in performance. I keep getting the same problem every year to answer questions more often, or engage in class discussions.
I never got A in behavior I get like S' in one class I got an U which means bad I might of gotten O which its like A like once but I also Have ADHD and its hard to behave

The entire social interaction and half of the behavior symptoms describe me, but i've never talked with a psychologist and i've never been diagnosed. My parents have always described me as a shy person while I was growing up. I don't really come off as shy these days, but I avoid girls when I can because of self esteem and self confidence issues.
I'm also very sensitive to touch and sounds, my sleep schedule is random each day, although I guess i'm decently smart since i'm being interviewed by a few grad schools.
Romans 10:9-10 "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." And please repent of all of your sins and obey all of God's commands before it is too late 🙏. Amen 🙏

My son has spectrum, a very mild case. He does not have behavior problems and his speech was delayed but he's doing wonder and progressed tremendously. My son is so I intelligent at 4 years old he's spelling words and reading everything. Decently on the gifted side.
This is exactly the kind if thinking that the autistic community is speaking out against. We are now a global movement and we won't be silenced. If you want to know about Autism ask someone who is Autistic and bear in mind that we are as diverse as neuro typical people.

I was diagnosed with spectrum of autism at a very young age. My whole life I was always told I had a learning disability, I just never knew what it was. Some of these symptoms are things that I actually have including anxiety, understanding other people's feelings, focus on pieces and parts, eye contact and so forth. I've even had my bouts with major depression and won my battle with them. Now I'm looking to get a registered disability so I know for sure what my condition is and I'm not looking to fix it, I'm looking for how to deal with it and the necessary steps needed to make each day easier as I go along.

Through the eyes of a broken head Through the eyes of the misunderstand Through the eyes of a child in the body of a man The World I see is of misunderstanding The World I see is a Piece of Hell The world I see is a lot less complex On top of a complex society of which the different is the norm And the broken are what is shun The world is cruel, but we find happiness The world is brutal, but we cop and adapt The world is unsafe, but we never fully know why I am broken I am Misunderstand I am a child trapped in a mans body I cop I find pieces of happiness I AM ASD (Autistic spectrum disorders) I have a family I am Loved I will Live a happy life
I enjoyed watching the video and I liked how he broke each disability down so that you could understand it more. I have been around children with autism and I know several who are savant. There is one child that I know you can hum a tune to a song that he has never heard before and he will play it on piano. I thought that was something and the other child can tell you directions to a place that he has never been to and he is good with numbers as well.

For someone to fit the descriptions, majority or many of these traits should apply to you. If it’s only one or two, it’s highly unlikely. Add on that most people would not exhibit the behaviours mentioned here. If many apply to you, perhaps you present some traits of Asperger’s. You could check with your friends and family on the way you interact socially with them. You might be surprised.
I'm an autistic in their early 30s and can relate to this but even then, realize that I am blessed in a sense. Yes, I am autistic but I'm not bound by all of these and was diagnosed in 1997 as the highest functioning case the Teach Institute ever had the privilege of being presented. But ya know. I also have ADHD, Anxiety and Depression so socializing with people is difficult. I also have those Savant like traits and used to hate myself for decades because a stupid ass teacher used to say that "Perfect kids get rewarded". But the manage money and traveling places thing that didn't have months to mentally prepare thing I agree with 100%

thank you , this is the best way i have herd autism explained , very clear and covered a great deal .However , i would like to add a few things , with the intention of feed back and advice or help in anyway . First i have a son who is autistic . he is 13 , it has been 13 years that him nor i have had a good night sleep ,he has been taking melomil medication which are drops , 4 drops about half an hour to a hour before i would like him to go to sleep , this helps him fall into a sleep state sometimes but he does not stay asleep . He just don't feel sleepy and that poses a huge problem for health and for his mood the following day . It would solve alot of irritability, anxiety , nervous behaviour , emotional , angry , aggressive however the doctors will not prescribe anything stronger for him to have a good nights rest and so that effects my sleep aswell ,and i am now 50 with illness , so thats now an added worry as i am the only person who cares for my son , no support system what so ever , no relief and no resbite . As im sure its the same for so many mothers and fathers , whom are struggling with the normal day to day chores and financial problems . My son once explained to me that his psychologists kept on saying that he had to look straight at them when he talked to them and he said , mum they don't realize its painful for me as i see about a 1000 images flashing infront of me and its torture , and he tries to explain and they seem to know whats best for him , which i find hard as they have no idea what he sees threw his eyes but at the same time they dismiss it . My son has emotions and knows when i am upset even if i don't show it , i am fortunate that way , its not always but he can be very observant and pick up on other peoples moods or emotions and he is most of the time aware of the atmosphere in a room or the tone of a teachers voice and that makes him nervous . he is sensitive and although alot of specialist say they are incapable of empathy or lying that is not always the case . Every child who has autism , there is not one child that is the same , like a snowflake . They are all unique and special with some form of talent , ability that is incrediable . Crossing the road for example , i cannot let him cross the road by himself , no way , i cannot see this happening any time soon , we discuss it everyday . I say to him ,your becoming a man , a grown up , so you will decide when it is safe for us to cross this road , i have to say , take your time , don't hesitate in the middle of the road , and explain the word hesitate , other areas have to be considered ie , if your flip flop falls of in the middle of the road and a car is coming leave the shoe , you can go back for that , its not important, his life is . If his shopping bag splits and all his food and drink fall out all over the road, again leave it ,just get to the other side . He does not have the ability to judge how fast a car is approaching ,so that means he could step out into the road and he hasn't given himself enough time to cross or he could be waiting there for hours . Its like common sence you cannot teach someone that , you either have it or not but im not giving up , i will find a way that he understands so he will be safe . I ask him , do you think we can cross now or not , and he says a car is coming , but i can see that its moving at a very slow rate , he cannot yet . One other thing , OCD, his specialist say he doen't have it , due to them , ocd cannot come and go , you either have it or not .That is not the case , my son has always had it but he can control it , with the luck of a great teacher when he was young who completely understood him , together we got a handle on it . Since then , with the covid virus , he has gone to hell and back , every 2 seconds and this is not exaggeration he would repeat the same question to me and i would have to answer the way he feels safe with . and that has been 7 months day and night ,he has even woken me up to ask this same question . Noone would believe me until they saw it first hand and said to me how do you do it . Patience is the key and voice tone is so important .I always think , how much this is torturting my son , he must be going threw hell . He would break down and cry , sobbing in the lockdown and well after , saying to me that he does not want to have this compulsion to ask the same thing over and over again and would he be stuck with this for life ,would i help him get better .His better , somewhat but is still saying it and now he is whispering it to himself and at school they think he is ok but that s they way he is coping with his ocd on his own at school . So i have said quite alot , and i still have so much to say but i will leave you with this , he is amazing , a caracter , funny , so talented , caring , effectionate , i know he loves me so very much and i am so lucky and grateful for that . Im just trying to cramp every bit of advice knowledge information on how to behave in society , what is correct to say in this sitation and what is not ok to say , how to act at a time like a funeral , learning numbers and make sure that noone short changes him by mistake or on purpose , don't be easily led by people , try to sence when something is not right or dangerous . basically everything within my lifetime . He is still growing up body and mind , so there is hope and he is not stupid, far from it . BE SAFE AND HAPPY , AND TRY TO TAKE A LITTLE TIME FOR YOURSELF , YOU ARE SPECIAL PARENTS AND NOT ANYONE COULD DO WHAT YOU ARE DOING , IT TAKES A SPECIAL PERSON TO CARE FOR THEIR CHILD WHO HAS AUTISM .

My son is autistic. I wasn't educated about this matter and I didn't understand why my son took so long in learning to walk, talk, and other simple skills. My son is now 14 years old and he was diagnosed with autism two years ago. He still needs help with bathing, brushing his teeth, all personal hygiene. He will be going to high school this fall and I don't know how he will do if the school doesn't provide a special education class. I live in Philadelphia pa, I would like any help any one can provide on how I can get help for my son. I would like programs or a good school that anyone can recommend for kids with autistic needs.
Did you speak with your school's counseling office? They should be able to work with you and your son to make an IEP, Individualized Education Program. Developing an IEP for students with disabilities, including autism, is a legal requirement for all public schools.
that's very sad my brother is autistic and he's 7 right now and he can brush his teeth wash himself and everything the doctor should have told you sooner
I don't no anything about autism myself but I once heard that autistics.hear noises in their heads all the time which drives them mad. It would account for the attention deficit and other behaviour associated with this disorder. Maybe neuro scientists shoud look into this
I know this video is outdated anyways, but it's important to note that some children are able to mask and go about socializing, although on the inside they still don't have an understanding of the social rules they are mimicking. Some young children with autism are very comforted by touch because it provides deep pressure sensory input and helps them regulate better because of that.
Thank you, There is a kid in my class named Oliver who had Autism Disorder but we told him to do a job outside so our teacher and the rest of the 31 kids can have chat. Our teacher told us to ignore him when he does things that are wrong to us But Are Right In His Mind.... He said it's something called Autism Spectrum Disorder. N one knew what it means but Thank You for the information

Great video. Very informative. It was helpful to learn about the 3 areas of difficulties. In the past I had seen a lot of this information mixed together. I was pleased to see the difficulties listed under the headings of social, communication and behavior. I would like to have heard more about the Savant area of autism.

+Matthew Alistair The reason I bring that up is the INTP type has lead introverted thinking meaning that type is mostly thinking above anything else. I would have to think almost all INTPs must have to at least have some of this.. but I guess it's determining where it becomes an issue.

Very Well Done! Over the last few years this known subject "Autism" is coming, more and more, familiar to the masses. Sticking a child in the closet and pretending there's no hope is no longer accepted. If the "Information Age" has done one thing for society it is "Autism." Although I haven't seen a "Spectrum Autism Chart:" however, the hand made Chart in this video is the best one I've seen so far. There might be one out there that I just haven't seen, as yet, but in time I'm sure that someone will come up a chart. We all should be encouraged that leaps and bound have been made over the last few years to better assist those that have Autism. Excellent Video! FR

My "savant skill" was/is art. From a very early age, I guess by kindergarten, I could look around and see my peers work and just thought "what?" I still have a decoupaged picture I made when I was 5. Cutting out a doggie from a card and gluing it to a little board and it is "perfect." And I was always the "fastest" too. Generally one does not associate a Savant as an Artist, does one?
Okay...edit! I went and brushed my teeth and whilst I was doing that I remembered that little girl from Russia who paints spiritual pictures. Her paintings of Jesus are incredible and she started when she was like 4 years old. Amazing!!!

As suggested in theory autism is a spectrum, some autistic people are very abnormal, while most are just ... normal. The REAL conflict is human nature. Narcissistic, competitive and malevolent. People must belittle, step on and destroy others in order to feel worthy, ALWAYS projecting. That's how we're nurtured. If we're NOT the same, uniform then we're WRONG! We're misfits. Which isn't true. I've never been diagnosed with autism, and I understand people are just different, it's not wrong, it's normal. Some people just won't and can't accept we aren't and never will be carbon copies. It's as if society doesn't want people to be individual and unique, they just want people to be obedient and uniform. The people who aren't obedient and uniform have a disease, a disorder, they're abnormal because it inconveniences or bothers society. Where and when I was raised autism was never taken seriously by most medical professionals and parents didn't want their child to be diagnosed as a freak and ostracized and be their family embarrassment. NO child should be considered a freak and an embarrassment to their family but we know how heartless and selfish egos can be. I think older doctors didn't take it seriously and many still don't because they felt and still feel it's too much theory that overlaps with so many common behaviors that it's TOO normal to be taken seriously. Many felt and feel this was and has been grossly misdiagnosed as well as over diagnosed and fraudulently diagnosed.

I dislike people use words like disorder, disability, or social dysfunction. in my opinion we are not any of those. Yes I am a person with High Functioning Autism. we are different. that is all. it is almost like we are a different species. also the condition that occurs from medications or vaccines, only mimics autism, and is not the same. neuro-typicals will never truly understand our experience. I have been trying to help with that. by spreading awareness of our internal world.
Chip I have not found any medications that work.... the side effects are worse than the recovery. Besides. ... I like me! would you really want to be like them? to me "they" look very hollow. fake. untrue. It seems to me that I really.only have trouble, when interacting in "their" world. when I hike and camp.... I don't have issues. not necessarily alone, but not living in the way people live. I wish there was an aspi- island. heeheeheehee!
Chip Medicated or Not.... people are always gonna think you're weird. and if you can figure out why they think that, please let me know.... because people do very strange things. it seems to be ok to them... but have you ever replicated their behavior exactly and they still look at you weird. I mean I look normal.... but it's like they know....heeheeheehee! so for me, I chose to not pay attention to other people. starting loving and accepting self. it is a daily thing. you don't have to be like them. Be Weird! Be Awesome! Be YOU! we have special abilities. we are like superheroes. or Aliens. it's cool!
However, disorder in roos case literally means your brain has been build differently and disordered (sort of a mess). It sounds heavy, but usually ignore connotations, it makes life even more complex than it already is, haha. And honestly, I might be intellectually gifted, but have enough of a disability that I can't even get into a big city without getting sensory overload in like 10-45 minutes. I think the terms fit. I also think this explanation was incomplete. He made it sound like PDD is a diagnosis for less intelligent people, by saying Asperger's is high functioning, when all forms off asd appear at every iq on the iq spectrum.
My granddaughter and one grandson have autism and Asperger's. I think my granddaughter that I am raising has Asperger's, but not show where to go to get her tested...
So much of this doesn't apply to "high functioning" autists, like myself. I've always had above average vocabulary, a heightened ability for and understanding of humour, and emotions, and I have no major sensory issues.
It does take a lot to get a diagnosis sometimes. I'm seveteen and my mom JUST took me to the nearest center she could find where they specialize in ASDs. The social worker there referred me to see a psychiatrist for Aspergers, a mood disorder (bipolar or mania they're not sure) and anxiety. Sometimes you have to fuckin BEG and it's really upsetting. Why dont' we treat mental health like physical health?
I recently turned 45 (no relation), and I still haven't been diagnosed. I figured out for myself very slowly that I am on the spectrum... despite the fact that even "experts" like the guy who made this video get a lot wrong. That's the problem. Even the experts don't really know what autism is, and female-bodied people are more likely to express it differently than most of the things he describes.

I have autism spectrum disorder, specifically Asperger's, and people make fun of me for it. I don't know why, for I am an honor's student. I only have one real friend. I tend to not care about anyone else though when I don't want to. I know it can be worse, but why was I born with this curse? To make it worse, I have a persistent stutter and I say the word sorry too much. I talk too quickly and I can't stop crossing and uncrossing my fingers. Sometimes, I knock pencils off of my desk because my legs shake too much. I touch everything in stores, just to feel its texture. I jump from topic to topic in the same sentence. I involuntary hit people when they try to touch me. I have depression, anxiety, and insomnia. I don't like vehicles. Why did I make this so long?
My daughter strangly scored in the 97 percentile for the non verbal GT exam, but in the 50th for the verbal when she was 4yrs old, and, she had speech delays

India has the largest number of autistic children (851,000), followed by China (422,000), Nigeria (207,000), and Indonesia (159,000). Vaccination rates are often low in these regions, further refuting already debunked claims about a link between vaccines and autism.
this describes me to the tee. i just got diagnosed with this. more over asbergers, my doctor who did the tests on me stated asbergers but since the current dsm does not have that she puts asd.
Wow I have most of those symptoms. I have a very high IQ but I have a hard time with life. Therapy has helped me cope but I have anxieties and depression. I have ADHD and slight dsylexia and dsycalulcia. No one wants to even enertian the thought I may be autistic; in fact for years I have fought to even admit I may have this. I am willing to accept it now if that is what I have. Only time will tell.

@@ABigNUT69 Why does it matter?
He/she is very opinionated at time....lol. Yup, you are right.
Excellent comment, my autistic son is the sweetest person I have ever met, would not hurt a fly, spreads happiness just by being happy with himself.
I have Asperger, and I feel Like I have to pretend all the time.... Like I am not myself when socializing.
I got one kid..they are just amaizing and really smart...but we need to work hard for him... And never give up.
The love of my life has slight asd she passed away recently I miss her so much
She was very expressive
And she understood people's emotions
And was really good at talking 1 to 1
However she found group conversations difficult
She was such a good person and a great teacher

Even adults, like me, has been diagnosed as eschizoids, and medicated aswell.

However, the classroom usually has an aide assigned to assist and they are invaluable.

They literally cannot feel for other people. It is called a spectrum for a reason and I believe he said SOME... before most of his comments. @@MsJcuz I'm in same boat, I just found recently that I'm autistic
As if it is so easy
But if I was to get the diagnosis, would it benefit me or not? Because they wouldn't be able to help me anyway.
Another thing I forgot to write here is, I have an extremely vivid memory. I remember almost everything that happened since I was three years old. And I remember certain specific dates that things happened
From doing more research into the synaesthesia, the excellent memory is a benefit of the synaesthesia.

Then I saw another video which left me thinking that everything in this on this entire planet was Autistic in one form or another ! I keep looking and found you !

This man basically summed up my whole life experience with about 92% of the bullet points yet I don't think I have been diagnosed with autism

My son has spectrum, a very mild case. He does not have behavior problems and his speech was delayed but he's doing wonder and progressed tremendously. My son is so I intelligent at 4 years old he's spelling words and reading everything. Decently on the gifted side.
Now he is 12
Yea my sons 12 now, they said he didn’t need the iep anymore and it’s all been pushed behind him and he’s living a regular life
This is exactly the kind if thinking that the autistic community is speaking out against.

The world I see is a lot less complex
On top of a complex society

And the broken are what is shun
The world is cruel, but we find happiness
The world is brutal, but we cop and adapt
The world is unsafe, but we never fully know why
I am broken

I am a child trapped in a mans body

I enjoyed watching the video and I liked how he broke each disability down so that you could understand it more. I have been around children with autism and I know several who are savant. There is one child that I know you can hum a tune to a song that he has never heard before and he will play it on piano. I thought that was something and the other child can tell you directions to a place that he has never been to and he is good with numbers as well.

This list is so broad that it seems like every person I know, including myself, fits in one of those descriptions.

This has change my life. Slowly but surely I’m understanding this disorder
I would like programs or a good school that anyone can recommend for kids with autistic needs.

im 14 now and i just found it out tooday but i was diagnosed when I was very little i hope your son dosent have it too hard
Great video. Autism is serious and people need to understand people who have this disorder. I know I have this. As well as ADHD.
Call it a neurodiversity, instead of disorder, okay?
Great video. Very informative. It was helpful to learn about the 3 areas of difficulties. In the past I had seen a lot of this information mixed together. I was pleased to see the difficulties listed under the headings of social, communication and behavior. I would like to have heard more about the Savant area of autism.

I wonder how this ties in with the Meyers Briggs personality typing system and if this is more common with certain personality types...

I'm just glad that ABA Therapy works, because a child needs to press a 30 second break button in order to rest from homework. Humans are amazing :)

I have Autism and love this video about me
I dislike people use words like disorder, disability, or social dysfunction.
in my opinion we are not any of those.
Micki Moritz very true and I have mild autism
Chip
I have not found any medications that work.... the side effects are worse than the recovery.
Besides. ... I like me!
would you really want to be like them? to me "they" look very hollow. fake. untrue.
It seems to me that I really.only have trouble, when interacting in "their" world. when I hike and camp.... I don't have issues.
not necessarily alone, but not living in the way people live. I wish there was an aspi- island. heeheeheehee!
Chip
Medicated or Not.... people are always gonna think you're weird.
and if you can figure out why they think that, please let me know.... because people do very strange things. it seems to be ok to them... but have you ever replicated their behavior exactly and they still look at you weird.

Thankyou for that presintation, I enjoyed knowing more about my AUTISM
My granddaughter and one grandson have autism and Asperger's. I think my granddaughter that I am raising has Asperger's, but not show where to go to get her tested...
Hello Jennifer
How are you doing?

When i was younger i had trobel with speech untll i was 7 so i was okay with that
My daughter strangly scored in the 97 percentile for the non verbal GT exam, but in the 50th for the verbal when she was 4yrs old, and, she had speech delays

India has the largest number of autistic children (851,000), followed by China (422,000), Nigeria (207,000), and Indonesia (159,000). Vaccination rates are often low in these regions, further refuting already debunked claims about a link between vaccines and autism.
How much are there in the usa?
If u talking about no. U should consider there population too...
this describes me to the tee. i just got diagnosed with this. more over asbergers, my doctor who did the tests on me stated asbergers but since the current dsm does not have that she puts asd.
