Undyne: Wanted to enact Asgore's plan (which would kill all humans) and set monsters free from the caverns.
Muffet: Was bribed with more than enough money to reach her personal goals, which she was already funding with her bake sales.
Mettaton: Save all humans by preventing Asgore from taking Frisk's soul, because he didn't think Frisk could beat Asgore.
Asgore: Free monsters from the underground and kill all humans.
Flowey: Be a god/dick.
Mettaton tries to save billions of lives from a brutal death. His heroism is only exceeded by Pacifist Frisk, who saves everyone in the world by just being nice to everybody they meet.

However, once they became mettaton, they took on a masculine form and personality. Basically, mettaton has a feminine, non-binary backstory, but now appears, and is referred to as, male.
