+kylezaking After the ''In my way'' and ''Looks like free EXP'' observations on the Monster Child I realised how much of a monster you actually become.
+kylezaking "Not worth talking to" observation on Toriel was the worst I don't quite remember the observation on Papyrus but it was pretty terroble too
Guys. I'm not gonna lie, this fight was hell. But, when I defeated her, she melted. This is odd, due to what Alphys said in her notes. When monsters are injected with Determination, they melt. Undyne melted at the end of the battle. This means that Undyne had Determination that she made herself, right? She's a badass, is she not?
flowey has 6000hp, geno undyne has 23000hp, however you can deal almost 2000 dmg in one hit to undyne mettaton neo has 30000hp but you always deal between 900000 and 999999 dmg to him
What I like about this particular song is that you can feel the final stand vibe. Undyne knows she cannot win but regardless, fights in an attempt to stop you
+MyBebopBlues Maybe my ear is terrible, but I'm convinced that this is a more epic version of the game over tune. (1:35 please someone tell me I'm not crazy) The implications of this are awesome.
The real unsettling part is when she *melts* when you beat her. If you've done the pacifist route that should tell you something very clearly: she was *seriously* determined.
So... i suppose alphys injected TOO MUCH determination in the Determination Mutants. But then she had the idea of injecting NOT THAT MUCH Determination in a living thing. So she risked it off on undyne. The Experiment was succesful. However this experiment was a secret. Thats why this isn't on the Experiment Logs. *_BUT HEY. THATS JUST A THEORY. A GAME THEORY._*
@@on37vn94 I'm pretty sure Flowey isn't a Genocide boss, I'm pretty sure Flowey is only a boss in the neutral run. (Photoshop Flowey) And yes, I'm calling Asriel and Flowey different.
you know she took me at least 20 to beat but now that I actually beat it I can do it easily. Just get some practice same goes for sans which took me about 40.
I honestly had hoped Sans would do this for me, especially considering how that's what he's really all about in your fight with him, but in the end I killed them both.
What fascinates me is comparing this to Undyne's pacifist run song. In that, it's sounds almost like she's having fun. The music is fast and jaunty, almost like a classic 'Pirate' song. In this however, she seems to know you are evil beyond doubt. She knows that you can kill her.She knows you will kill her. The piano at the start makes her sound like she has been preparing for this all her life, and when the song goes full-on epic mode you realise that she isn't having fun. She is trying with all her might, not casually suplexing ten huge boulders anymore. Accompanied with the piano and the backing it makes her seem like an angel, someone purpose-built to stop evil. Boy, I wish this song didn't make me so sad - This is her last stand, and she knows it. This song made me cry ;-;
Such an amazing game, i like to imagen that this song is in the pacifist run, simply because the genocide is way to sad. Killing friendly and likeable characters like Papayrus and dear toriel. I love how deep sans is, he seems to know in the genocide run that you will just come back again anf again in the final fight. With theories that he knows all timelines and such. I love the music in the game and even though the genocide run is sad and horrible it's really good in its own uniqe way.
I always loved the fact that Undyne doesn't even cut in between attacks for any dialogue/banter. She is extremely determined (no pun intended) to put you down and know exactly what the risk are if she let's her guard down/loses.
Spider salmon-9999G *You don't even know what's real and what's spiders anymore *You eat it *Tastes like spiders *You ask muffet for a discount Ahuhuhuhu~ Don't be silly~ Discount is expensive for fish~
SonicBoss 1991, This is a big question: *Did the spaghetti get burnt and if so, did she still eat it? Because I WOULD eat that spaghetti because it caused me so much trouble.*
This is so insane. I mean, this is her song. She is the heroine, she must save her people. You are honest to god cheering her on, but are at the same time the villain, fighting to stay alive. What kind of a twisted reality is this? If she loses, her world is doomed - because you are the bringer of doom. A theme like this usually only plays if YOU are in her shoes, not the other way around. Christ, playing the Genocide route is an endurance to the extreme. You are the most horrible creature alive, spreading chaos and death, how much further are you willing to go? Can you do it? Can you abandon all humanity and become a monster? Good lord, this couldn't be deeper.
+Shino Hunter this is explained in-game though. Asgore's whole MURDER ANYONE WHO FALLS IN AND YOU'LL ALL BE FREE proclamation and all. He's a pretty terrible king.
Its funny, fighting Undyne in the Genocide run, besides dying because Im bad multiple times, I cant help, with that music, and the fact that she has her own form of determination, made me glad she kicked my ass as many times as she did.
+MrExplodingtaco What's creepy though is that the end of her fight shows that she actually DID have determination as The Undying. Why? She melts. The only time things are shown, or described as melting or breaking like that, is in the path to the best ending. She had determination. But your omnicidal desires trumped her desire to save the Underground.
+Sir Nancy The Negative That's partially cause as she mentioned, she's borrowing the power of 'ALL' humans and monsters. Though you're also wrong about that is the only time things are shown or described as melting: The amalgamations likewise are melted together. Which would also make sense for her, as she's somewhat melded with the souls of everyone in order to take you down. Still, I wouldn't be surprized that even if she does defeat you, her body would still melt away in the end.
+Psaakyrn GW They're not wrong, the Amalgamates are what they are referencing when they say "he only time things are shown, or described as melting or breaking like that, is in the path to the best ending"
It’s quite sad being on genocide and having SAVES on your side. Oh some neutral runs and pacifist, the messages encourage you and keep you going in a heartwarming way. Here? Undyne is throwing everything she has at you at her absolute peak, and killed you. Several times. But she doesn’t know that. She was the heroine, the last beacon (besides Sans) of justice and honor keeping you from destroying everything, and in her eyes she failed horribly. Hell, she might’ve not have been able to hit you. Perspective is a bitch, right?
She would have saved everyone regardless of if she won or not, at least that's what she believed as she was dying. She was able to set up a warning for Asgore if she failed to kill you. Asgore with the 6 human souls absorbed may have been enough to beat you, too bad he's a timid old fool though.
If you get to hear this song... You both hear the greatest theme in this game and fight against the most heroic character of all... ...While also playing as the worst character.... How tragic.
I feel like that's what makes this song even better. It's an epic song. *The kind of song you would hear when fighting the big bad in an rpg, through the power of all the monsters who rely on you to win for their safety.* It's not the music you hear when fighting undyne. It's the music Undyne hears when fighting the fallen child.
+iblobtouch This is a great way of looking at it. But sadly, even the power of all the hero's comrades combined wasn't enough against the villain's power of time-manipulation.
As the one who completed genocider's route I can say one thing... Hearing this theme in game is something like "Yeah, so I'm the evil one and you're the defender of justice, eh? So let it be. I'll show you the true power of darkness!" It was the first time when I almost forgot that it's just a game and I really felt that I'm pure villain. It was very instructive experience, yet I don't wanna feel it ever again.
+Hyu7 Honestly, i never felt anything. Sans was right, you do detach your self from your victims. I played the genocide through like i did the first final fantasy: Carelessly, aiming only to achieve victory. Nothing else mattered to me but reaching the end. The only time i reacted with an emotion was the fight with Sans. Everything else was just empty...
+HeWhoEnjoysTehVids Do you happen to know any good games where you play as the (true)antagonist? I find it so interesting when you see the other side's story. Besides, the only reason we find this horrible is because we bonded to these characters and treat them as if they were alive, but in the end they are only code and sprites in a game. Sort of like people.....
@@BrownKirbyEpic Well, we had elections like three months ago, when the opposite party won Istanbul, they reannounced the elections to not lose Istanbul. So that comment kinda reminded me of the Turkish elections lol
I'm willing to believe that Undyne is the only monster in the entire Underground that possesses determination naturally, as opposed to being injected with it by Alphys. Any thoughts?
Her the hero is on there last breath close to death, realizing what the hero is fighting for, said hero musters everything her soul as to offer to put an end to it all.....Only to still lose. Now we know what its like to be on the opposite end of that spectrum.....
+MrGrey321 Not always. many genocide route players get to this fight, and at some point of it or another... Their *DETERMINATION* is broken, and the run ends. They cannot handle the weight.
+isectoid This is a really good point, while she can't stop every villanous genocide player, she is a hero because she does succeed in saving some realities
+Drekyl 1 muster ˈmʌstə/ verb verb: muster; 3rd person present: musters; past tense: mustered; past participle: mustered; gerund or present participle: mustering 1. assemble (troops), especially for inspection or in preparation for battle.
+Alexei Strife nothing else is interesting enough on No Mercy to even bother with. everything else dies in 1-2 turns except that pos Jerry, the grinding is a pain in the ass and the majority of the run lacks any real content. you only run to fight the only 2 bosses in the game.
I understand where people are coming from about Undyne’s fight being more meaningful, but that’s because they have two different purposes. Undyne is speaking to the character, she is the Heroine, and killing her is showing you exactly that you are the villain. Sans, on the other hand, speaks directly to the player. He frustrates you to get you to quit the game, to reset. Because he knows it’s not the human in front of them, he knows it’s you. Undyne is fighting a villain, Sans is fighting, for lack of a better term, a God.
Undyne's actions are more heroic because she tries to stop you even though it seems hopeless. She won't sit by and allow you to kill everything, unlike Sans, who waits until the last moment to fight you, acting only when there is no one else but him to stop you. And Undyne does identify the player as a separate entity, denying the player's humanity and not mentioning the soul that she is originally going to kill Frisk for. You are deluded if you don't think her speech was directed at the player. For this, she is the True Hero, not Sans, which seems meaningful to me.
As far as monsters go, Undyne has by far the strongest soul. Not Asgore. Not sans. She survives a killing blow, and while her body wanted nothing but to crumble away into monster dust, her DETERMINATION kept her body held together, all so she could put an end to you.
+Octavia Philharmonica It *could* have been Sans, but he didn't have the heart for it, his own knowledge of the fact that the world can just be reset at anytime made him unable to really feel any DETERMINATION. He was strong, the strongest, but he lacked the heart to struggle for what felt like nothing at all.
+Octavia Philharmonica Undyne was about to die from all that damage, then her determination reforged her armor and self into a more deadlier version, and her determination was shooting INTO her missing eye to keep her going. Asgore didn't have the heart to kill Frisk at all. Remember, during his boss fight he hesitates, starts having a small heart attack, and then mans up and doesn't get persuaded. Sans, on the other hand, *COULD* have had the strongest soul if he was able to care. Because he knew one day, it would all be reset and he'd be back in the underground, like nothing happened...Thus, killing Frisk would be pointless to him if it'd be reset.
+Octavia Philharmonica I think something that might play a part is how monster bodies are mostly magic, while human bodies are mostly water. Of course, I could be way off.
+CFW Trick Well Sans fight was literally to try and get you to rage quit from the game out of sheer frustration. Otherwise he wouldn't bother with the whole 'Oh looks like this is your 10th time' and so forth.
***** He was actually doing his job. If you do a Genocide Route you'll hear him talk about the "anomaly" and how it might be YOU distorting time and space to prevent his race from moving forward. Also, I didn't feel so bad for killing Sans after I did a Pacifist run 3 times just to visit his room. "Truth is, you got owned, nerd." -San's note
Fun Fact: TORIEL Is one of the only monsters to come close to Undyne the Undying’s ATK and DEF stats, along with ASRIEL and possibly Flowey, as we never get to CHECK him.
Funner fact: the CHECK command started outright lying about monster's stats not long after the game's release. Play a really early version or use the wiki to properly CHECK them out.
@@KopperNeoman theres a difference between canon stats and in game stats, theres a reason asriel's stats are infinites but are actually not in the files Because canonically he IS a god, but frisk's determination made his attacks useless This is basically the same for every monster, the stats may be different in the files, but canonically the CHECK stats are their actual ones, theres just a canon reason that theyre either weaker or stronger than what the stats imply, another example is sans, all his stats are 1, but the reason he does so much damage is because of his poison/karma
There are only 3 reasons to do a genocide. 1. Fight Undyne the Undying. 2. Fight Sans. 3. Piss off Chara when you reset just before you enter the Throne Room.
Coolest lesb i've ever known. I was really depressed when she dying with smile, hoping Asgore will take human souls, but king Fluffybuns just drinking tea. I've never seen such disrespect before
@@Dreamcrusher999 the thing is, asgore is a coward. he doesn't want to fight you. and when he meets you, he doesn't even register you as human. you're so far depraved, that you might aswell be a monster. he knows he can't beat you, and he's too cowardly to use the SOULS.
@@cloverlovania I'm not sure how much of it is cowardice in regards to not using the souls, but perhaps it stems from a place of guilt instead. Considering his lack of wanting to fight you, I wouldn't be surprised if he sees it as more of a necessity, a means to an end, something he doesn't want to do but must
Uhh Undyne is just part of the royal guard and Asgore does not have daughter he has a son which is the final boss of true pacifist run Asriel Dreemurr.
+DoomDragonRider That's as if Undyne's a wolf. * The wind picks up. * You hear a desperate howl of a wolf. * You turn around. * You turn back around, to be face-to-face with a wolf. * The wolf snarls. * UNDYNE ATTACKS!
Sometimes I realize that Alphys had cameras set up around the Underground and that she watched this battle in case she had to evacuate everyone.... So, that means that she sat in her lab- watching Undyne, her true love, die. I think about this a lot.
Alphys once you learn her whole history that is hidden away, is a irredeemable person/monster and honestly should be put to trial. Didnt deserve to be with Undyne at all, end of my knife or disposed of sure but not with anyone or happy. Alphys is a REALLY fucked up character.
iios: but the whole point of the pacifist end was to show that EVERYONE deserves a second chance. even the creator of the amalgamates. plus, Undyne loved her too, so why deprive her of love? I think I'm looking to deep into this.
Undertale isn‘t a good game because of its graphics, it isn‘t a good game because of its exciting gameplay mechanics like its combat system, it‘s good because of mainly one thing: the fact it somehow manages to reach certain players (not all obviously) through the 4th wall via character development, general character originality, plot and almost most importantly its very unique, extremely fitting and beautiful musical accompaniment for all said aspects. The fact that I‘m laying here, 5 years after I beat this game 100% when I was 15 years old and the soundtrack alone still manages to not just put me into the situations and plot of the game but also to let me emotionally comprehend and react to them so strongly, well it means the game along with the soundtrack did something with me back then, I think we can all agree on that.
Sorry I know this is a joke but I just need to say Undyne wasn’t injected with determination she made her a own which for a monster is near impossible.
Because most people that play the game don't want to actually kill everything they're doing it to understand the story and lore deeper, so when you have to play as an absurdly evil character they tend to root for the person trying to stop the bad guy, even if it happens to be them in this case.
I feel that Undyne is actually the true heroine of the game, not Sans, as Sans only tries to stop you last minute, and only goes after you because of Papyrus, but Undyne actually saved monster kid's life, and fought you for all of monsterkind. Undyne has fought in the wars from the very beginning, and wants the monsters in the underground to be safe. Undyne is the true heroine of Undertale's Genocide route.
@@vaughnsebastian5177 He was trying to save both humans and the fee remaining monsters, iirc, similarily to Undyne. Probably distracted the player so that Alphys could evacuate everyone as well.
A lot of people might disagree with me, but I think that "Battle against a true hero" is the best song in Undertale. Move aside Megalovania, here come the true hero of the Undertale Ost.
0:44 Right about here, you can sense Undyne's desperation to take you down. Because she knows that if she fails, everyone will die, and she will never let that happen. We all know how this ends, but hearing this part of the song makes me a little emotional, the pure desperation and determination emitted by this part is really spectacular. God I love this game...
This fight made me emotional, undyne was always a character I loved but this really cemented her as my favorite character. I still remember the first time I saw her transform and heard this song, chills down my spine and tears in my eyes
I love this part of this part of this song because it is taken from "respite" which is at the end of the pacifist route. The pacifist route is special because all the monsters in the underground all put their hopes and dreams in you to stop Asreal, you are the hero. Now the tables have turned you are the villain all the monsters that are left are looking at Undyne like they used to look at you I feel like that section of the song is representing that switch in roles.

It hurts me knowing that my friend who’s on his first genocide run is very close to this fight
*DRAMATICALLY JUMPS INFRONT OF CHILD TO SAVE HIM* "What did I tell you about her? Go-...! Save yourself!" "It's going to take *A LOT MORE THAN THAT TO BEAT ME!!!*"
+Rezafeild You mean he/she's androgynous? Well, there are hints to the main character being both male and female, even if for the most part they're all overshadowed by stereotypes and the possibility of homosexuality.
@@comfy88338 imagine trying to battle Undyne the Undying if she could dodge, but when you finally hit her you only chip off a fraction of her health. Literally Sans x20
She probably could. In fact I’m pressure all monsters could but it’s just honor stops them from doing it. Sans though knows you are not worthy of a honorable fight so he put employees dirty tactics like dodging
She can't dodge by logic, cause the bridge isn't wide, she would literally fall and die to ground, well.. Frisk would be lv 18 then, And sans would say hello in last corridor
This fight is devastating, but I want to focus towards the end of the fight, when she's finally struck down, as it plays along with the Genocide Route's purpose. Unsatisfaction. When you beat her, she has an emotional speech, but when she finally dies... nothing. She just explodes, you walk forward, and the game acts like you didn't accomplish anything. You just stroll on your way. It's sort of the opposite of what Mettaton NEO does. All this so hard work for no satisfaction, other than the ability to progress. The whole point of Genocide is that it's supposed to be boring, an endless slog of killing before either fighting nothing or beasts. That's why I love the fight. Because it makes you feel like you did nothing. Yeah.
It's like... As if Undyne hit a "game over" screen, and there's nothing left. Not for her, not for the world. Everything after her death is just... An aftermath.
Undyne is undoubtedly the MOST powerful monster in the underground, even moreso than Asgore, and that's saying a lot because she isn't even a BOSS monster, her soul doesn't remain for a moment after she dies like it does with Toriel and Asgore. But yet, her BODY remains, because unlike Asgore, she has innate determination. A power so intense her body literally can't hold cohesion under it's effects, and yet she harnesses that power and solidifies, becoming Undyne the Undying. Asgore on a casual day is more powerful than Undyne, but when pushed to their true limits, Undyne goes further than even Asgore can, her devotion and heart is stronger, the will to remain pushes her further because she still cares. When Asgore fights you in a regular run he's lost his heart, he doesn't want to hurt others, he's not a man of war or righteous fury and it takes effort and self-detachment for him to even bring himself to hurt others.
Mind you, her DT powers only come out when very specific situations align, even in the neutral run you can kill her and she wouldn't turn into her Undying form and would just die, it's like a VERY low chance and her determination needs to be on a VERY specific threshold otherwise she'd melt immediately or just straight up die.
I quit the genocide route on this fight. Not because it was too hard, but because this was the fight that finally broke my DETERMINATION to continue on. Undertale shattered my completionist urge and I'm both sad and happy about it.
+Casparatis Holy fuck, now I want to see Jirard attempt to 100% Undertale and potentially screw that up. Because... y'know, guess what? It's possible to fuck up, and there's only one way to back out of the 100% genocide ending.
+Sir Nancy The Negative It wouldn't be a 100% completed if one doesn't go genocide->pacifist->true pacifist anyway. Then again, part of the moral is that going 100% completion is not necessarily a good thing.
+Psaa WS Genocide forever locks you out of the true pacifist ending though. Proper order for 100% should be pacifist ->true pacifist -> genocide -> pacifist -> corrupted true pacifist I think
Now that the toxic fandom is gone I get to talk about how this is the true beginning of genocide. The end of the hero is the beginning of an unstoppable villain. The moment you take her down with a malicious smile on your face is when YOU the player swears to tear apart every monster there is.
I think the real genocide began with Papyrus. For the creatures in the old ruins and even Toriel, you could somehow argue that you killed because they began attacking first. But Papyrus doesn't begin a fight at all. He spares you right off the bat even though you've killed his friends, and Undyne asked him to capture you...but the moment you kill him, the Genocide begins, and the player just tears through anyone and everyone else.
@@otaku-chan4888 I disagree, even though it was painful I agree with OP Undyne was the beginning of the real genocide. Because remember, up until Undyne everyone died in one hit. You didn't really have to try at all. However- in this fight, if you persevere in something you KNOW is wrong, then that's when it really begins. For example, you don't really have to try with the other fights. Yes, the grind for all the mobs is annoying, but the boss battles were only one strike and didn't actually challenge you. Up until this point, you didn't really have to think about what you were doing. You could just go on and on with the grind and not really think about it, but this fight is when you have to give it all your effort to get past her. This is when you acknowledge that you don't care if it's right or wrong, this is when you would acknowledge that you will continue to kill innocent monsters you can spare just for some extra story. THIS is when you become the true villain. You know it's wrong, but you move forward anyway.
Neither. The Master of the House pays a day's wage whether you were first chosen at the market or the last. And those who complain about those who worked an hour and were given full pay... where you given a rightful day's wage or not? Jesus said that.
This is where I stopped my genocide run. Not because I couldn't defeat Undine. I simply didn't want to. She deserved to be the heroine this land needed. I deserved to die.
At this point, the game proves to you that are no longer the hero. You are the one that needs to stopped. You yourself is a boss, an enemy, the very thing in "other" games you tend to defeat. So,...how does it feel? To be the definition you and your friends would try to kill at glance?
That's the thing... In most games, you're the human and you're fighting the monsters. In this game, you're still fighting monsters, and you're still the human. To better explain what I mean... love, hope and compassion. These are the things that hearts are typically made of. However, this isn't guaranteed to be true, as _some_ humans seem to be able to survive without these things.
The reason why Undyne the Undying is considered the true hero is because she was one of the only bosses that didn't get one shotted. This proves that she can stand up for anyone against anything, like the villain you are. That is why she is considered the "True Hero" of the story. EDIT: This is what I'm basically saying here. Yes, Sans, Mettaton, Papyrus, etc. are heroes, but they aren't the TRUE heroes. Even though Sans' battle was very annoying (I'm not saying that Undyne's isn't), he still got one shotted. They are heroes, yes, but Undyne the Undying was the TRUE hero.

1:55 - 2:32 best part for me tbh. Sounds like the final fight between the strongest hero and the strongest villain and whoever wins will determine the fate of the world
The genocide run takes the game to a whole other level, it goes from funny and friendly to something incredibly dark, during the fight with undyne she even states the fact that we are a threat to monsters and humanity alike, she hates and resents humans so much, yet she tries her best to protect humanity from us… it really was a battle against a true hero
When I first heard the song name I thought you were the hero, and Undyne was the "villain". Turns out that YOU are the villain, not her. (not me though since I'll never attempt genocide)
+KyleDances No Undyne is still the antagonist, as Frisk is the main character, which makes them a protagonist. However you are the villain, and Undyne is the hero.
A protagonist is a character who is either supporting the main character's actions or is the main character. An antagonist is someone who opposes the protagonist's actions. protagonist =/= good antagonist =/= bad
Seems like the Genocide run really says something about the direction a lot of JRPGs go nowadays. You grind and grind until you're max level, while the story and the characters are literally ground to dust as an afterthought. Then at the end you don't really feel satisfied. You feel empty, almost soulless.
+Bonfire Keeper James I'm a little confused as to what kinds of RPGs you've played that do that. A requirement for grinding is practically taboo at this day and age and I haven't played any games that just utterly drop the story at the climax, unless they were rushed to release.
+HarvestMasterJack Yeah grinding is MOSTLY taboo in this day in age. So if you've been playing RPG's for more than 5 years, you'd know what he was talking about lol. I've played well over a hundred RPG's and have done some serious grinding in some. Also, I'm pretty sure he's talking about feeling empty and soulless after min/maxing all your stats, and reaching the max lvl, whatever it happens to be in that game. Not referring to the games narrative.
I generally tend to force myself to not grind so I won't be overleveled so that I have to use tactics even with pretty much everything, a good example of that would be the Shin Megami Tensei series where you can't beat normal encounters without tactics even when their levels are below yours.
JameboHayabusa He specified RPGs from "nowadays". And "nowadays" is when people tend to look at grinding and give it the bird, except in the case of specific grind-centric series like Disgaea.
i love this song, the beginning kinda symbolises how undyne realises what she is up against as she fights to stay alive and free everyone from their endless torture. Also if you didn't know on a neutral run killing undyne... lets just say it makes it way sadder than the genocide

I honestly had hoped Sans would do this for me, especially considering how that's what he's really all about in your fight with him, but in the end I killed them both.
What fascinates me is comparing this to Undyne's pacifist run song. In that, it's sounds almost like she's having fun. The music is fast and jaunty, almost like a classic 'Pirate' song. In this however, she seems to know you are evil beyond doubt. She knows that you can kill her.She knows you will kill her. The piano at the start makes her sound like she has been preparing for this all her life, and when the song goes full-on epic mode you realise that she isn't having fun. She is trying with all her might, not casually suplexing ten huge boulders anymore. Accompanied with the piano and the backing it makes her seem like an angel, someone purpose-built to stop evil. Boy, I wish this song didn't make me so sad - This is her last stand, and she knows it.
This song made me cry ;-;

Sir Nancy The Negative Simple: WE HAD MORE THAN HER.
MrExplodingtaco =)
I'd say Metaton kind of counts - Kind of.
Sans wasn't a beacon of hope he just wanted to annoy you before you destroyed everyðing.
She would have saved everyone regardless of if she won or not, at least that's what she believed as she was dying. She was able to set up a warning for Asgore if she failed to kill you. Asgore with the 6 human souls absorbed may have been enough to beat you, too bad he's a timid old fool though.
well, you only had to lucky once in her fight

Marbels Uh-huh.
Yeah, like it didn't take us a *MILLION YEARS* to beat him
Even megalovania conveys this a little bit this one seems very heroic
San is fighting a conqueror of Death.
Iow sans fights the player, undyne fights frisk
+Octavia Philharmonica
It *could* have been Sans, but he didn't have the heart for it, his own knowledge of the fact that the world can just be reset at anytime made him unable to really feel any DETERMINATION.

Because most people that play the game don't want to actually kill everything they're doing it to understand the story and lore deeper, so when you have to play as an absurdly evil character they tend to root for the person trying to stop the bad guy, even if it happens to be them in this case.

Right about here, you can sense Undyne's desperation to take you down.

She probably could. In fact I’m pressure all monsters could but it’s just honor stops them from doing it. Sans though knows you are not worthy of a honorable fight so he put employees dirty tactics like dodging

Yeah.

*Disappears*
When Asgore fights you in a regular run he's lost his heart, he doesn't want to hurt others, he's not a man of war or righteous fury and it takes effort and self-detachment for him to even bring himself to hurt others.
yep
agree
Mind you, her DT powers only come out when very specific situations align, even in the neutral run you can kill her and she wouldn't turn into her Undying form and would just die, it's like a VERY low chance and her determination needs to be on a VERY specific threshold otherwise she'd melt immediately or just straight up die.

It’s kinda badass that Undyne the undying is the only boss in genocide that can tank a hit from you. Sans doesn’t count he dodges.
How?
@Giovanni Ocampo you commented that 4 weeks ago

This is where I stopped my genocide run. Not because I couldn't defeat Undine. I simply didn't want to.
She deserved to be the heroine this land needed.
I deserved to die.
+SegmentedHero The Furby in your profile picture says otherwise.
***** When there's nothing else left, determination is literally what holds some of us together.
+SegmentedHero Mind you, the achieved feeling finishing the genocide route gives you is pretty damn big, overwhelming even.

HarvestMasterJack Fair enough, my bad.
