Thank you! I appreciate your clear instructions along with pics of what you're doing!!
Thanks for including all of the small details such as how a contractor hose is going to be thicker, how to make the metal clamps low-profile, and why you may want to choose one type of repair over another... those are the details I needed!
Thank you for the tips on repairing a heavy hose like rubber, I bought the first clamps and couldn't get the middle piece in. I tried soap and that didn't make it any easier so I gave up. I like the boiling water method, that might work and I'll try it again otherwise I'll do the 2nd clamps as you suggested for a heavy hose. I didn't use that method because I didn't want the hose sliding on the grass and ripping up the grass. I like the electrical tape that you put over the clamps, that is a great idea. Thank you again.
Used my lopper to cut the hose, and a bit of hand soap on either end of the fitting to get it positioned. I was prepared with your hot water tip, but ended up not needing it. Thank you so much for posting!
Thank you! This is exactly the help I need!
Very Helpful and detailed. Thanks so much.
Thank you! Excellent presentation!
You showed me how to save my very long hose!!! Thank you
Thanks for the video !
Thanks for your video it was very helpful.
Thank you so much. I have a leak in my heavy-duty hose. Ordered a kit from Amazon. It's metal. I wanted directions on how to use this. Browsing through Utube and saw you repairing a hose.Great job with your video.
Thank you so much, Barbara Carroll! And good luck with your hose repair! :-)
great video!
Thanks for sharing. You're a good explainer! I especially appreciate that you show what *really* happens during a repair -- there are struggles and hard parts -- and you call them out and you show that you have to wrestle with the materials, too. I'm so tired of seeing videos where everything goes smooth as silk the first time for the demonstrator, and then that's not what my experience is like.
Some kits say they may used for a range of sizes. I have one that says "for 5/8 to 3/4" hoses."
thanks for the tips saved me from buying a new hose
:)
add dish soap to the ends - makes it easier to insert into the hose...
Good idea! Thanks for sharing.
Well, I've tried it -- multiple times -- with the brass connector and metal clamps, and I just can't get a perfect seal. I soaked the hose in hot water and kept trimming the cut edges to make sure they fit together without gaps. But water still shoots out where the 2 cut sides meet. Any suggestions?
Cool fix but I found a better product. It is made by Expert Gardner and it is called a Push-fit Hose Mender. Sells for +/- $2.75 they have a Male/Female hose mender. All you need to do is to cut the hose correctly where needed and slide the mender piece in. No other tools required. They also have a coupler version in case the leak/repair is too far along the length of the hose and you do not want to end up with a shorter hose. This last one may not be too good of a solution if you have the hose inside a reel, because it may not reel-up perfectly.
You don't say where the flat end of the clamp part goes (which way it faces.) If I put it together as it came in the box the flat ends toward the center, the break in the hose, it doesn't really fit snug. If I flip them they fit more snugly.
👍✝️❤️🙏
Soooo if I can’t get it in just stick my “hose” into warm water for about 10 minutes? Then slide it up to the center and screw it?
Try the body lotion
Tried duct tape, didn't work,haa.
