DCS World is one of the most popular flight simulation software platforms on the market, and the Bf 109K-4 has been recreated with excruciating detail. This late-war aircraft of the German Air Force, known as the Luftwaffe, was one of the most fearsome versions of the Bf 109, and is one of the most popular modules in DCS. In this DCS Bf 109K-4 tutorial, we'll walk you through the steps required to get your Bf 109K-4 up and running in minutes. So if you're looking to get started with DCS World, or just want to brush up on your start up skills, this tutorial is for you!

average warthunder player: press I
Why you plaing simulator dude
@@Moonstar-zj8co it's available in every mode lol but yea sims are fun sometimes
@@Moonstar-zj8co People who want the game to feel more realistic buy joysticks and play simulator
Controller players: go forward and you fly
an average wt palyer shouldnt fly this pos
I like when the propeller spins
OooooKAY
Usually pilots like when the propellers spin
Yeah its like a huge cooling fan because when it stops spinning the pilot starts sweating.
Yeah I wouldn't like ot of it stopped spinning :/
She's also deadly in the hands of an unskilled pilot, just not to the enemy.
And skilled pilots, too. Arguably the best fighter pilot in history was killed by the G variant.
I was just about to do this joke but thought Id check to see if someone else got in there first. 🫡
@TheEDFLegacy there were quite a few notable 109 aces, which one are you talking about?
@@hughmungus5033 most likely an early G-2/trop piloted by Hans-Joachim Marseille
@@TheEDFLegacy and who was the best ?
"Clear !"
"OKKKKK :DDDDDDDD"
Reminds me of that jet pilot replying with "yeah, cheers"
Pilots have the weirdest comms
XDDDD
Gotta love the sound of an inertial starter!
My grandpa was supposed to fly this beautiful machine, served instead as an AA gunner. He got captured by the americans (he actually got a medal for this from the Nazis, funny story).
For his 85th birthday me and my dad bought a Model off a BF109, build it and painted it.
He passed away 3 years ago.
Not flying it probably saved his life. Thanks for sharing the story!
@@SportDCS the funny thing is how he got captured. The americans were closing in, they wanted to run away, but my grand dad ran in the wrong direction. Got a medal for „bravely charging the enemy“ or some shit.
@@sugandesenuds6663 lol
Your granddad is a hero
@@ShiftySheriff2 He is, and you have a dumb name. Little Kaiser couldn't even beat the French in WWI 😂
“Ready to taxi” that’s about where my flight ends in this fucking thing
That K-model 109 in early war camouflage Looks cursed af 💀💀
I swear it is an F2 camo
I remember the first time I downloaded dcs. Had no clue on how to start my plane, went to yt tutorials. Saw the first video, then I thought “I think war thunder will do fine for now”.
The funniest thing is this is one of the few birds you could _actually_ start, in real time, in less than 60 seconds. Actually I bet 30!
The very first thing you do when you spawn in, call for ground crew to run the starter. Then zoom through everything else (doing the priming takes longest) and you can pull the handle and start the bird when they call "Clear!"
I have to say that's a far better cockpit design layout than most aircraft.
One of the most beautiful fighter plane ever made🥰🥰🥰🥰
Welp now i know where Lucas got the startup sounds for his podracers
Ockaaaay
I feel like I’m watching a discovery channel reality show
God i love that flywheel sound before the engine starts up
This work for me now AGO 2023. Thanks!!!
This was really good! Now I’m gonna try to steal one from local museum!
OKKEEE
オッケーで笑った
MW50 for takeoff? now thats some spicy drag racing!
Super cool
I'll bet that was a great plane to fly. 20mm cannon....mmmmm
It was a death trap unless you were skilled and even then it killed some amazing pilots and it wasn't because they were shot down
@blayzed2529 ahh didn't know. Had strong guns. Hard for a spitfire to down one, but they did, for sure. Saw a former pilot saying they'd pump tons of rounds into the 109 and they'd have to hit them in just the right spot to bring them down
K4 had a 30 mm in the nose hmmm👍
@@Tirpitz-lv2kt it could mount a load of different weapons. The ground crew could remove the propeller and lift the engine to install a 30mm or a 20mm gun. While it would also be equipped with two 13mm mgs on its cowl.
@@mikkel066h correct, same like the gun pods under the wings
“Today, I’m gonna walk you through the thorough but necessary 612 steps to start this plane”
Some of the pilots were know to carry a spare starter crank inside the cockpit for the ground crew in case they had to land somewhere other than one of their own landing strips. Then it was if anyone around could help the pilot fire it up.
Thank God now I know what to do if I ever wanna steal one of these airplanes
If I did all that I would be dead in 60s
War thunder player: *holds in left shift*
Cool!
Holy shit you can read the labels!
Radiator to "Open" not "Emergency"
Before Switching on the MW50 make sure it is available. In singleplayer it most probably will but in Multiplayer not always. If it’s not available leave the switch off and never exceed 1.45 ATA
I had no idea it was an option one way or another. Thanks for the tip!
@@SportDCS one way to find out if your Plane has MW50 loaded is to turn on the Switch and go full throttle. When the MW50-pressure indicator is moving, you are good. If not turn off the switch and don’t go beyond 1.45ATA
Bro this is the easy start up
Ain't nothing like those old ADI injection radial engines
Does this procedure actually work for you in current versions?
If I prime it and turn on mags before pulling the starter handle it doesn't start for me, as of the previous update i don't prime it, pull handle then flip mags on after its clutching, starts first time
I recorded this in the current release. It should work as outlined in the tutorial
Achtung a das ist gut
Can you do a fw-190 next if possible?
Cool but we need one thing
The huge F4-E
CLEAR!
OKEEEEEEEE
Can you do one for the Fw 190
One time I primed to much fuel when starting and the engine blew up
That okayyy tho
whats that black circle thing with holes in it? its on the left side of the cockpit.
Me: "press E" (to start engine)
Imagine you forget to turn the oxygen valve
I guess starting a tank is more easy than starting warplanes
Make a video how to land the bf-109
imagine if this in cod and warzone lol
Do you really need to turn on the water methanol injection while taxing?
You don't "run" the starter. The starter flywheel had to be manually cranked up to speed by two ground crewmen turning a handcrank. Then the starter clutch was engaged, allowing flywheel inertia to crank the engine over.
"Crank" or "spin" the starter is more accurate than "run" the starter.
do you use track ir or virtual reality?
Can you do a Su-57?
Dog what are those textures 💀
Most German startup ever
Damn. It's so old. It really needs a visual update
ED hasn't updated visuals since 1944 :(
Do the He 111
just read the manual how its work on online i just read it and i have a headache
Turning on the radio before starting didn't sound right. Tube radios took a lot of power. Better to turn on after the generator is running.
Meanwhile DCS doesn't have a P-51H 💀
Funny enough, I’ve flown in a P-51H
Im sorry but i can never go back to dcs after flying the same plane in msfs
Glad to know you can’t start a plane like a car 😂
Now tell us how to fly it I can't fly it howww?
couldn't they have made all this one key press?
Game?
A K-4 with a 1940 Battle of Britain paint scheme?
Yeah I was wondering why it had an F2 paint scheme
Yo yo yo dont forget to give meals to the technicians as well.Or else ya engine will not start in the future.
Does all this, dies after 35 seconds in combat
Imagine doing that in a hurry
Ground crews desperately cranking the starter so they don't get bombed.
Prime 8 to 9 times? Nah. In real life you would flood the engine. Hold it for several seconds 1 to 2 times if it’s a cold engine. Never once had a problem with this in DCS
In real life you wouldn’t flood the engine. It’s a 35 liter (2,176 cu in) block. It can take WAY more fuel. The manual says 8-9 primes, so that’s what’s in the video
@@SportDCS ahhh, count me corrected. I read in the DCS manual that says it’s no longer needed in game and now optional. But I’ll take your word for it for the real thing. Thanks
Dang, you got enough fuel to be able to start the engine?
Most likely had to rob the rest of his JG to get enough for a 150m taxi.
I have been watching many
WWII planes taking off at
night, and any of the fighters had so much flame
coming out the exhaust ports, I would think someone would have
invented aluminum covers
to hide the flames from being seen in a frontal
attack.
There were various types of covers, primarily on night fighters and bombers. You can look it up. Some hid the flame only from the pilot himself so he wouldn't be blinded (night fighter-bomber Fw.190 A-5/U2), others were basically tubes to hide the flame completely (mostly on night bombers).

Then crash because too much torque
Oh no please
Is this a mod or an official module?
