Your including Happ in the mix ? That's not very reassuring , nobody even inquired about him before the trade deadline . Too bad ! And that's a very average looking lineup .
I just read on baseball-reference that the Cubs haven’t approached him about a deal. He has a no-trade to 10 teams. Taillon has been pitching really well since his return and was due a rough outing…..it’s part of the grind. The umpires not only blew it on the ejection of Pearson and Counsell, but they blew a batter’s interference call early in the game. The Reds batter was clearly in the way of Amaya as he tried to throw out a guy on a steal.

Most around baseball don't expect a tough start to have any effect in the trade talks. Honestly I think he started last night because the Cubs aren't moving him.
You know Anthony I'm glad to see Leiter gone. For some reason everytime I saw him pitch...he was hit good. It seemed he couldn't get batters out unless they swung at bad pitches. I won't miss him but Morel...shame he couldn't get it going.
I'm kind of shocked that the Cubs are where they are at. To be clear, I'm not a Cubs fan. I really thought their early season performance was "who they are." I expected them to be a contender, if not for the Central title at least for a Wild Card spot. Not sure what happened. They got the manager they wanted. Seemed to have a lot of solid talent. Even got some positive surprises in the rotation -- Assad and Imanaga, in particular. I really don't get it. Do you Cubs fans have some insight into this failure?
Why in the world did th e Cubs start Taillon with the trade deadline so near? Our whole organization just doesn't seem to make smart decisions. Taillon just dropped his trade value, to say nothing of risking an injury.
@@thehappyhermit01his recent stats are immaterial. You have to look at the big picture. They need to dump as much salary as possible to make some power moves this off-season. What are your thoughts on Amaya jogging down to first? He’s been doing that all year and I’ve been pointing that out to all my friends. This time it really cost him and the team. They should send him down to AAA to work on his hustle because this is unacceptable. Surprised our six million dollar a year super manager hasn’t corrected this issue.
8 million per year, but the point is valid. That was a BS play and he should be benched for a week, but it won't happen. He can't go to Iowa because his options were all used up early in his career.

If you trade Taillon you still have to replace him next year . With who , one of their overrated unproven prospects ? Really ? The Cubs farm system is loaded with a bunch of marginal ballplayers , pitchers included , while the front office bullshits everyone about their future greatness . This organization has been floundering in mediocrity since Hoyer took over . Where is the superstar or just a couple of star offensive players ? They don't have any . Do we have to go through another year depending on one hand Happ to supply power and generate offense ? Does Crow-Armstrongs defense make up for zero offense ? Do they put up with another year of no offense and bad defense from Amaya ? What about Suzukis shakey right field play . I’m not sure one start tanks his trade value all that much. I’m assuming the Cubs don’t have super serious plans yet to move him.

If they're actually trying to trade JT, his start last night is baffling. There was no way that start could improve his value to other teams.
