- After the Cubs shocked the baseball world by trading Christopher Morel and two pitchers for Isaac Paredes, many expect the Cubs to have an even busier trade deadline.

Mick Gillispie has covered the Chicago Cubs since 2007 and has been a fan of the team since the 1984 season. He has broadcasted spring training games or been heard on Cubs.com, MLB.com, 670 The Score, WGN, CSN-Chicago and Marquee Sports Network. I agree. Shaw and Triantos? It is potential. Trade one! Nico is a Gold Glover and while lower avg this year I feel he will be better next season. You have to have a base hit guy. Our problem this season was everyone swinging for fences. Take a base hit!

2 hits in 6 innings so far against the reds, if the front office does not make some changes then it's time to start cleaning house from top to bottom and I would start with the batting coach
We also drafted Corner IF Heavyyyyy 😅. Matt Shaw should be moved back to SS immediately. Got some good Pitching prospects, Great Catching prospect. The 2 SS HS prospects in Rd 3 and 4 are the New Head of Development picks. He is Elite at developing IF. Especially SS. See Houston 😂. Great draft. We added a 3B and 1B the 1st 2 Rds who are likely in camp next year 😂

Cubs will not trade Taillon. If 2025 is his "landmark" to present fans with competive team he can't do that if they trade him.

Why do you think the cubs need a CFer? Dansby's not going anywhere. So they don't need a SS. and Amaya has been much better since getting rid of his leg kick.

PCA is 22 years old and is still DEVELOPING.. he just had a 3 hit game!!! We don’t need any more outfielders!!! we need a star power bat and better relievers and a catcher

Unless the Rays get a new owner they’ll trade them away again in a few years! Trust me I live in Florida and the Rays are my second team but it’s so difficult to get involved in the good players!

Matt Mervis should be traded for another good prospect who is blocked. Guy just needs to play. Oakland your would think would be all over getting Mervis. If I'm Cubs, I would shop him some, see what we can get back.

So for Morel we got a weak pull hitter .247 BA for the most part his homers go down the left field foul pole line with exit velocity in the 80's. Better defense than Morel but don't really see much improvement over Morel here. Not sure whatHoyer is thinking here!

I wouldn’t touch Leiter Jr, Merryweather, Little or any starter unless it’s a deal you can’t say no to. Nico should def be traded. We have 2-3 other younger Nico’s in the minors. He’s a great defensive player. It’s tricky. Cubs need a couple better pinch hitter options off bench and a *legitttttttttttttttttt* flame throwing closer. (Looks like we gave him up in Bigge, but that’s ok.) you can find closers in FA.

Keep Leiter. You just said he is mosted wanted because he's the kind of guy who can help you win a World Series. I thought that was the goal. Keeping the top line starters seems a no brainer. I'd trade Wisdom and Neris. Wisdom deserves a chance of playing. He just doesn't fit with what the Cubs need. Does Wesneski have trade value?
If we trade Nico over moving Swanson I will need time off. Nico doesn't drive runs because he is at the Top of Order usually. The bottom don't hit on this team! Mick just all about moving Nico! 20 other players to move first.

What if Morel got hurt? We can play the what if game all we want. Morel wasn’t a good defensive player, Paredes is an all around upgrade at the moment.
Morel's going to be a big star with the Rays whose batting coaches improved Paredes' batting skills, and they're going to develop Bigge into an elite closer, instead of shuttling him between Wrigley and Des Moines.

Trade Neris, Smyly and Tauchman. Keep Leiter unless you get a bunch for him like the Padres gave up for Jason Adam. That was a haul. Wish the Cubs could pull that trade off with someone. Keep everyone else and go for it the rest of the season and next year for certain.
