After watching your review I bought the Baton 3 Pro Max . It is all you stated in your review. Very happy with my new Olight. Keep up those good reviews. 👍🏻
Just received the magnesium alloy version in tan today directly from Olight. Definitely very lightweight! I'm digging the battery capacity and the output but it's almost too floody for me on an average semi-dark Street in my neighborhood. Just came in from my first test walk with it and on high and turbo it's quite adequate, but my personal preference, except for battery capacity, might be the warrior Mini version 2 just because of the added throw. I guess we all have our preferences which is why there are so many flashlights!!! 😅👍🔦🔦🔦 Great review is always in many thanks for your detailed presentations!
Great review. I picked up the tan magnesium alloy B3PM and am quite impressed with it so far. The excellent Seeker 3 Pro has been my go-to 21700 light, but was too big to EDC. The B3PM excites me because it uses the same battery but in a much more compact, pocketable form factor. One of Olight’s best designs to date for sure.
I didn't think that my Olight Seeker 3 Pro would become an obsolete flashlight so quickly. This new Baton has everything I wanted in my three month old Seeker. Small and the ability to disable the proximity sensor, it's awesome. Thank you for your review.

This is a wonderful light from Olight. I have been buying them for years now and the only problem I've ever had was with the baton 3 pro ! A well known issue with the proximity sensor! Still a good light , but then the baton 3 pro max came along and its the best light I have had from them? I have the green and the black ones and love them! I really like the fact you can disable the proximity sensor if you wish but this one works fine!
I bet Olight would double their sales if they stopped using proprietary batteries. Thanks for this video as I didn’t know the MAX existed. I EDC the Baton 3 Pro
Don't know about that because then they wouldn't have the magnetic chargers. The magnetic chargers are what drew me to Olight. Now I have a full collection, my family and friends have lights too.

The new Max crushes the size to power ratio and hits a perfect sweet spot between the Pro and Warrior 3S. Can't wait to score this light.
We neeeeeed this light!!! Especially in the natural color of magnesium (maybe tumbled?) and also with the option of neutral and warm whites. Not just the black in those variant hues.
I’m a welder and I use the baton 2 for a work light. There’s pretty much always some metal shavings on it but the only time it’s a problem is when there’s so much built up that it won’t stick to whatever surface you’re trying to put it on. A quick wipe off is all that is needed to cure that problem. I can see how it might be aggravating to some though.

Biggest flaw in my opinion with any baton 3 no matter the size, is the clip position. It’s on the wrong end. I don’t like carrying lens up and whenever I put it in my pocket the knurling scrapes along my pants really bad. Because of this I find myself using the reverse side of the clip which doesn’t work as well and isn’t as deep of a carry. Unlike any other light or even knife that I have. Big flaw for me and honestly a deal breaker when I can just carry a different Olight. I’ve been loving the arkfeld
I LIKE WHAT THEY DID WITH THE EMITTER AND THE BEAM PATTERN. ONE OF THE GREAT THINGS ABOUT INCANDESCENTS THAT LED'S HAVE HAD A HARD TIME GETTING RIGHT IS THE BEAM PATTERN AND HOW THAT LENDS ITSELF TO PRACTICALITY. GLAD TO SEE THEY ARE MAKING STRIDES IN RIGHT DIRECTION
Interesting you say incandescents have had better beam patterns… I disagree there. Maglites and their ilk have simply awful beam patterns with dark regions and rings in the beam. Because LED emitters are so small, the light is more focused and provides much more consistent beam shapes than irregular tungsten filaments in ill-fitting bulb sockets.
The only thing I don’t like about it is how sensitive the shake to wake battery indicator is. Seems like it always turning on. I’m sure it doesn’t suck much juice at all, but still an unnecessary battery killer.
Just ordered the magnesium model for myself, excited to get it! If there’s one thing I would change it’s the option to swith the position of the pocket clip like on the Warrior Mini 2. I’m assuming the upgraded version after this Pro Max model will include the option to change the position of the pocket clip. To me it makes so much more sense to keep the emitter down, especially in a backpack organizer pocker where I might damage the glass if I throw in a laptop charger or anything a bit more heavy and angular.
got my pro 3 max a couple days ago and it's almost always on my hip , love it!!! 9:45 omg thank you!! the instructions make it seem like it needs to be connected to the charger to disable the sensor, I tried that and it changed from dimming when close to my hand to strobing between turbo and high over and over , now it just stays on turbo or high if I get it close to anything. which is strange because unless on for awhile AND touching something flammable I don't see an issue... compared to this laser pointer I have that definitely catches stuff on fire, you can even etch with it.

Olight tends to get a lot of hate from the flashlight community. They were my stepping stone into higher end lights and their customer service is excellent. I'm excited to see them stepping their game up! As always, awesome review Cheule. Thanks for what you do for the community, and providing such a wealth of information for both the beginners and pioneers.
Love the content bro!! Found your channel few months ago and I was instantly hooked!! This baton 3 pro max looks sick. Def picking 1 up. Just wish olight would go back to stating what LED is in each model like in the old days..
I hate the sensors on these lights. My baton 3 pro I got failed due to the sensor failing. And because initially you couldn’t disable the sensor on the pro (the sensor on the pro was disabled after all the issues) I’m glad you can permanently disable the sensor on this light tho. I may give them a second chance because that.
The sensor on my BOSS is user selectable for sensitivity, as well as can be disabled). And since the BOSS has 4 editable user mode groups (basically four flashlights in one) you can activate or disable it on the fly. All this is to say, bounce sensors CAN be implemented correctly..
@@cheule maybe they can. I’m honest just a little biased. As a master technician of over a decade it just doesn’t make sense to me to add points of failure in an item that can be utilized to the fullest without. If it can fail it eventually will 🤷♂️
@@cheule Great videos! By the way, your BOSS has a sleep timer as well! It’s called “motion sensing” and you can have it dim after one minute and turn off after ten minutes as well as a quicker option of dimming after ten seconds and sleeping after one minute. Let me know if you have any questions about it
Could you make a video explaining the different driver types somewhat in depth? Like Boost, Buck, Direct, Fet+1 and all that stuff? How they work, what their effect is and so on. I get really confused on them
Hey, make sure to fact check this but it should get you stared and message me if you find any videos as I am interested in them too: 1. Direct Drive Drivers: Direct drive drivers are simple in design and do not require any complex circuitry. The output brightness of the flashlight is directly proportional to the battery voltage. As voltage decreases, the light will dim and draw less current. 2. Linear Drivers: Linear drivers use a linear regulator to regulate the output current of the flashlight. A certain amount of current is allowed to pass through it, typically 350mA. A linear driver regulates output current by dropping the input voltage from the battery to an output voltage to match the forward voltage of the emitter. This means that the input voltage coming from the battery needs to be higher than the output voltage, and the difference between the two voltages is dissipated as heat within the driver. 3. FET Drivers: FET (Field Effect Transistor) drivers use a transistor to regulate the output current of the flashlight. The voltage from the battery is always at full power, and the driver uses pulse-width modulation (PWM) to control the amount of current that flows to the LED. The FET switch turns on and off rapidly to adjust the amount of time that the LED is powered on, and this determines the brightness level. FET drivers can generate heat due to the switching of the current, so they may require additional cooling or thermal management. 4. Boost driver, In a MOSFET driver, the driver uses an inductor to boost the voltage from the battery to a higher level before regulating the current to the LED. The MOSFET turns on and off rapidly to control the amount of current flowing through the inductor, and this indirectly regulates the current to the LED. The voltage across the LED is determined by the input voltage and the duty cycle of the MOSFET.
25:30 my warrior mini ultimately failed from picking up debri on the tail switch. That why i decided to stay away from the tail switch. I loved having the tail switch but it needs some work so for now I'll go with the pro 3 max.
Another great review! The updates to the proximity sensor alone prove that olight really listens to customer feedback. But, they are also giving more emitter options, way to go olight!
I feel like from time to time, the cutting edge technology can be found coming from either large manufacturers or small artisans. They seem to trade that influence back and forth over time. Right now it seems like large manufacturers are starting to drive the technology, with proximity switches, enthusiast preferred emitters and tints, dual channels, and the like. It’s an exciting time to live in! I love that some of these really cool features are coming to more easily accessible lights. It’s not like everyone can or will get their hands on a BOSS (I wish everyone could though, they’re amazing) so I’m excited that more people will be able to get this great tech in hand.
I have the Baton 3 pro and I use it on my hat as a headlamp sometimes. Do you think this new one would work as a hat light or is it too heavy? I like the new floody beam.
Good question. I’ve been able to use a Warrior 3S as a hat light at 153g, and this is 125g or so. So yes, it’s possible. But it’s also heavy-so not comfortable.
I can see one disadvantage with the flood light with less defined beam...when you are trying to see something far away the light pollution from the objects near you would obscure what you are trying to identify in the distance, essentially blinding your vision. Not so good when trying to identify something in the bush in the outdoors.
I have this as well. Solid flashlight, but I always found that the "Shake to see the battery life" feature to be really sensitive. It goes off even when I don't even shake it. It's not a deal breaker, but can get irritating at times.
Hmm, magnesium body and emitter swap to something warm or neutral. It would be great light! I love exotics materials. Magnesium is in my wish list now 😀
My personal preference always are flood lights, Lol and as a huge olight critic, because of their LED choices and UI, just could never bring myself to purchasing one. but between this and the seeker three pro, I’m in, if you have any other suggestions for any of their other lights that are pure flood would be appreciated.👍🏽
Thanks for your review. Hey, when turned off and back on, will it return to the last power setting or do you have to cycle back to your preferred setting?
I'm done trying to get a reasonably small light that has both a good flood and a good throw in one. I already have a good long throw now I have a good flood with the max.
Is the bezel easily removable on this one? Just watched your Warrior 3S emitter swap vid, and it has given me some hope for a swap on this one for a higher CRI swap, but that bezel doesnt look easily removable. I have ordered one in NW already thanks to your review here
Floodierness! ☺️...... I'm looking at the thrunite catapult pro (I saw your review) they now have a neutral option! Any opinion or thoughts on that? Congrats btw, you're quickly becoming the standard for flashlight reviews, imo. ✌️
I'm in between this one and the warrior mini 2 I like this one better because of the high lumens but it looks so bulky I can't imagine making it apart of my EDC it'll take me back to my maglite days. How this one on the jean pockets? I carry the I5t now and its great just looking to upgrade.
This is incredibly small for 21700 - much smaller than a Warrior 3S for example. I have no issue edcing it, but then I will occasionally pocket the Warrior 3S! So maybe I’m not the guy to ask. But in practice I don’t find this any worse to pocket than a KR1. One thing that should be noted, the W2M has a more focused beam. This one is more floody. I find this ideal for close up work, but the Warrior 2 mini would fair better outside.
Olight is at the top of the game and _everybody_ is playing for second place. Intuitive UI, compact physical size versus competition, competitive outputs/runtimes, refined milling, good design/looks, available in NON-BLACK (a huge feature for myself as I hate black things) and now a choice of emitter colors. What is there to complain about?! I understand that hardcore enthusiast community guys must hate whatever is the most popular just to be different and contrarian but I am an Olight fan, I will admit. They comprise most of my collection and I don't see a compelling reason to go elsewhere. Yeah, sure, customized/proprietary batteries, blah blah blah, but how often do these batteries fail? Bought my first CR123 battery six years ago and it's still working just fine. I suspect that most flashaholics will grow tired of the flashlight or be on to the next next next one before they wear out their battery cells. Does anybody know what tint the magnesium light is in? Website doesn't list a CW/NW.
I'm actually quite impressed here... This is one of the best EDC light configurations out there at the moment. Great "muggle" design but really talking to the enthusiast market at the same time. The only thing I think I could argue here is the beam profile, I would prefer that extra little focus in the middle rather than all that flood... But still very good for EDC. If it's in the D4K ballpark as a 21700-sized light, then I'm gonna want one - to me, the extra convenience features have always been a positive with Olight. Nice review, -Cheule-!
Great review. I was wondering about the beam pattern as the MAX has higher lumen output, but shorter throw than the Pro. In real life usage I don't need the focused beam at extreme distances since I can't see clearly that far anyway. I just wish the neutral white temp was available in other colors as I have too many black colored lights and they're harder to find in the dark.
Amazing review, Finally a strong Olight that you can disable the prox sensor. I’m a first responder and I work around shiny metal and have to peer through glass all the time. Glass reflections constantly trigger the prox sensor so I’ve had to keep using my old lower lumen lights or other brands. Keep up the great reviews of Olights!
Just found your channel. Blown away. This is the EXACT video I’ve been hoping for as I’m torn between pro and pro max, mainly based on EDC size and form factor. Is the max worth the carry?
Looks like we are entering a "smart flashlights age" with that motion sensor and proximity sensor. Do you think other big brands are going to adopt this kind of technology?
Congrats on you channel!! Questions about your Boss… what do you like more? amber or red… Crenellated or smooth… 3500k vs 4500k… Future head or retro… Thanks!

I love how thorough this review is. I am definitely digging the Pro Max. I have the Baton 3 Pro in Purple, I love it. I am definitely going to scoop this one up during the sale. I am glad I am now subscribed to your videos, I clicked the bell so I will get notified about all the ones you do from now on.
I like your clean concise review style. I just ordered this one and your video made me happier about the purchase. Thanks!
Everything mainstream in a hobby gets hate. Doesn’t matter if it’s good or bad. People like to feel they know what the good stuff is.
What A Great INDEPTH Review!!!!! Great Job.
Love the content bro!! Found your channel few months ago and I was instantly hooked!! This baton 3 pro max looks sick. Def picking 1 up. Just wish olight would go back to stating what LED is in each model like in the old days..
Yes, it can be frustrating. My guess is XHP50.3. But I’m not sure.
This was an insightful comment.
I just received the warrior 3 S for xmas and now I want this baton 3 pro max just for the reduced size
Great review! You sold me and I wasn’t planning on buying another Olight for a while.
How would you choose between the Olight Baton 3 Pro Max or the Olight Mini?
I like the larger lights, just for runtimes and thermal mass to prevent step down.
Glad they are listening to the community
I'm fairly new to quality lights and your videos are very helpful - thanks
Excellent review... I love my baton 3 pro max... keep up the great work
As soon as I saw the warm white available I was hoping you'd get one and see how the CCT and tint was :)
I asked them to send me one, it’s on its way if you can wait!
@@cheule Oh wow that's awesome! :)
@@cheule I’m stuck between the neutral white and warm white. Will you be able to review the warm white before the sale goes live?
Hmm, magnesium body and emitter swap to something warm or neutral. It would be great light! I love exotics materials. Magnesium is in my wish list now 😀
Love the memory feature and the proximity sensor! Brilliant designing!
Great review, the battery indicator seems a bit wonky. I love how Thrunite does it with the Blue-Red-Flashing Red...
Green / orange / red / flashing doesn’t work for you?
I wish I could get used to lights with no tail switch. This one looks good.
Thanks for your review. Hey, when turned off and back on, will it return to the last power setting or do you have to cycle back to your preferred setting?
Happy that Olight is giving LED options that are not 7000K.
I have ordered one in NW already thanks to your review here
A month ago I knew nothing about fancy flashlights, after binge watching your videos I think I now know too much haha.
Welcome to the rabbit hole! Join us at r/flashlights on reddit as well.
Fantastic Review! So Thorough about so many facets and features. Thank you!
Floodierness! ☺️...... I'm looking at the thrunite catapult pro (I saw your review) they now have a neutral option! Any opinion or thoughts on that? Congrats btw, you're quickly becoming the standard for flashlight reviews, imo. ✌️
I love warmer tints, it’s less of an issue for throwers like the Catapult Pro, but still welcomed.
What a great review.
This may be the next torch I purchase plus looking for something with a great flood throw too....
Наче чудовий ліхтарик, але все ще не на стільки щоб придбати собі. Не сьогодні)) дякую за відео
My understanding is the non-CW is black only. That the Tan would be CW.
Might have to upgrade from my Baton 3 Pro. 👍
Just got a warrior 3s but has to get the baton 3 pro max in that purple color it looks crazy
I can see that. But everyone has their own opinion on that, so who am I to say.
Love your videos dude keep up the good work!!!! I thought the baton 3 pro was 1500 lumens?
button is rubber or plastic?
Botj
Looks like we are entering a "smart flashlights age" with that motion sensor and proximity sensor. Do you think other big brands are going to adopt this kind of technology?
I think only a few. And it’s an example of a olight really trying to bring a better experience.
Congrats on you channel!!
Questions about your Boss… what do you like more?
amber or red…
Crenellated or smooth…
3500k vs 4500k…
Future head or retro…
Thanks!
This is awesome! However I’d love to see a tail switch on it. Who knows, maybe we’ll see a warrior mini 3 pro max is in the future…
I love the Baton 3 Pro Max. I wish they had included the option for choosing neutral white in the magnesium model.
Yea, hopefully they'll come out with the warm white again in fancy Mg.
Think your gonna need a vacation after all these reviews I’m just watching and it’s a lot great job busting out a lot of reviews for the giveaway and keeping them like you normally do!
Seriously, soooo tired.
I have the baton 3 in titanium with the holster that charges it. Super cool.
I’ll be ordering it in NW. It will be interesting to see how the beam compares against the seeker 3 pro.
Are you able to do an led swap on a baton 3 , I tried your website.
I’m uk based.
Your videos are well articulated and easy to listen to.
The emitter choices are great, thanks for the video!
Glad it was helpful!
'Bolt action' I think is what the pen's mechanism is called.
Also: isn't the Baton 3 Pro supposed to be 1500 lm? Or is that only in CW?
I'd like to see what the Olight haters come up with to justify not liking this light. It's fantastic!
So far the comment section hasn’t had the usual sass. Guess Olight got it right this time! (At least in the haters’ minds)
Olight lacks candela and proper thermal regulation.
@@abigailsaoirsefinnegan This particular model does, it was designed that way🤦♂ And what exactly do you mean by "thermal regulation"? it steps down just like every other light, I'm not sure where you're coming from......
They did it again!
Love the upgrades
Your reviews are thorough and detailed. Thanks for your commitment.
Love the reviews. Could you review the lights from the Led Lenser company someday?
Looks like such a great light and price! Can't wait til Jan 10 to get one in the Tan!
Please test the warm and cool white Baton 3 Pro Max emitters. I got the warm white emitter with the early access, but I’d like the neutral and cool white as well. I’m a little upset you can only get the od green and tan magnesium with cool white. The means I have to have 2 black lights to get neutral and warm. Sad😢
Yes, that’s a shame. But I can see why they want to streamline their skus. I have a WW on the way to test.
Very helpful review. Thanks for post it!
I knew you'd already have that light. Disregard my comment on your previous video. Lol
I want the WW version, but I also want a tail switch. I'm wondering if I should wait and see if they release a new Warrior Mini model with WW? 🤔
What emitter did you put in your Warrior 3S?
A 4500K xhp50.3. I also have a WW Baton 3 Pro Max on the way…. Will review.
@@cheule thanks for the reply. I don't really know anything about all of the different emitters, but I'd like to upgrade my Warrior 3S to a warmer tint. Do you think the xhp50.3 is the best emitter for the Warrior 3S? Are there other emitters?
Guess I'll have to update my S2 BATON & S1 BATON EDC lights.
