    Married for 3 years, she got a free lexus, motorcycle, half a 401k, half a house, all her debt paid off, and probably a xmas bonus on top. All from a trucker's salary. All enforced by "the law". What a disgusting institution marriage has become in the US.

      This is why the trend against marriage is growing with so many younger men. Divorces are no fault anymore so all these women have to do is be nice enough to get you to marry them and then like you said, take half. I'm union and my buddy went through this a couple of years ago. He married a woman, took care of her kids as his own and their biological dad never paid a dime, treated the woman like a queen. At the 10 year mark everything changed. She moved out with zero warning, filed for divorce and ended up with half his 401k, half his pension and half the savings. She had been a part time server at a little restaurant during their marriage so she made maybe 10% of the household income. He found out during the divorce she had been cheating on him for a couple of years. Why work your ass off, do the right thing and then just hand half of it over to some woman who was only in it for the money anyway?

    This sounds like what happened to a guy I went to school with. He dated a girl for a little over a month when she told him she was pregnant and he had to marry her. Friends told him to call her bluff and make her prove it, we even gave him the name of clinics to take her to.
    He married her. They rented a nice apartment and he filled it with financed goodies. He financed car for them. Obviously, she was not pregnant ('big surprise).A year or so later she wants a divorce, and it was ugly. She dragged it out over how to split the the stuff HE had paid for while they were married. He met with her and her lawyer several times and she was never satisfied. He told us their final meeting lasted about fifteen minutes; he told the judge he was done and ready to sign the paperwork. All he wanted was his truck (it was paid for and he had it before he married); she could have everything else he had paid for.
    She was stunned and apparently not happy. He said it was as if she did not really want to divorce him and maybe hoped he would beg her to take him back. The divorce was granted and he never looked back. He eventually married and had three kids.

    Dave, $740 was the national average for a new car payment a few months back. This is only 25% more than that, all trucks cost this much now. What has to stop is the price of vehicles going up because in case you haven't been looking around, there are no cheap ones anymore. You can expect to pay 15-20K for a very very POS used one now. Prices doubled to tripled since Covid. Most trucks new are close to 100K now out the door.

      For a truck around 600-700 in monthly payments, the mileage exceeds 140k pretty regularly from what i've seen. A 7-950 truck payment seems like the norm now for a fairly newer truck. This is why i strayed away from Dave is because of the disconnect from the everyday person the more our economy slips.

If you have the cash, sure, but most people seem to be needlessly drowning themselves.

In that price range you're talking about cars with 70-90k (average) mileage. $5k could cover complete suspension wear and tear replacement, brakes, tires, other minors. But any engine issues are a whole different ballgame. Buying at that price you're adding an element of randomness to if you get a car that lasts 50k miles without major issues, or 10k miles before you're in the hole for a $9k trans. Gentlemen, I married a woman in 2010, 6 years later she cheated on me and literally left the household from one day to the next. We had 2 kids, 6 and 3 at the time. Went through divorce, custody battle, debt divided in half.
    I swore that wouldn't happen again.
    Remarried in 2021, this lady loved my kids when we were dating, once the paper was signed she flipped on me and didnt want to have anything to do with my kids.
    Separated a year later. Going through a divorce again.

    When you buy a new truck nowadays, there’s literally about $11k to pay for on top of the actual truck you’re buying. Taxes, fees, GAP insurance, delivery charge of nearly $3k, dealer profit. Not a shocker he’s not ahead on a 2023.

      @JakeAkstins 6 месяцев назад +1

      @asimskentzos9231 There is value in marriage, but there are also a lot of women out there who are intentionally with a man just for their money. Most divorces are filed by women, and most child support payments/alimony is paid by men. The divorce rate is 50% with a high chance of the man losing half their assets in a divorce. Not viewing this financially is probably the biggest mistake a man can make in their lives.

    “The problem with divorce is, it turns a marriage into a business transaction.” Oh Pappa Dave sadly we’re living in different times. He signed that contract the day he got married he just didn’t read the small fine prints and he’s a truck driver he definitely was getting cheated on while he was away he just didn’t caught on to it. That woman wanted the divorce once she was sure the grass was greener on the other side. Three years and no kids she wanted out the first year of marriage she was just waiting for the right time.
