Josh, I got about the same results out of my MTR and custom BR gun. I am trying it as practice ammo. I got better results after sorting by RIM thickness and weight . Thanks for the great videos.
Thanks for doing this series. It’s really helpful. I bought a couple of bricks of the Norma tac 22 before I discovered your channel. It shot pretty well in My Rifle which is nothing close to what you’re shooting. I’ve got an old 1022T that I shoot for 22. I’ll probably be picking up one of these CZ 457s pretty quick. But these are really helpful these tests. Thank you.
Thank you for the review. I just ordered 1000 of these for $4.45/box (50) May, 2022, incl. shipping. I use standard/target velocity ammo in my High Standard Supermatic Citation. This looks like good stuff.
Another great vid. The list of accuracy of what your MTR will shoot is really narrowing down what I should be taking with me when I go to the range. Thanks !
enjoyed the heads up on ammo. i m new to accurate 22 shooting and needed a guide of what ammo to consider at a price range and results without spending the time and money you have. greatly helped in ammo cost and selection right off the bat.
It shot great out of my savage MK2 FVSR out to 85 yards. Once it got to 100 I had a 3in vertical deviation. Got some Lapua center x and started shooting tight groups at 100 yards.
Shoots real well in my rebarreled B14 shot well at 50 and 100 so i bought 1000 rounds of it. shoots as well as CCI Std vel. and almost as good as CCI Green Tag but way cheaper than Green Tag. Good ammo for shooting with the guys and not wanting to waste $15.50 a box Eley Match.
Josh unfortunately I'm a rather late arrival to your ammo testing party so I don't know whether you still monitor the comments or not, but I'll post this anyway. I think the Norma brand is manufactured by RWS, given the headstamp on the casings are exactly the same as what's on the casings of their R50 ammo. I'm a HUGE CZ fan and have seven of their 22 long rifles. Three 453's, two 452's and two 455's, one of which is my benchrest rifle. The setup on that one is a 455 receiver with a John Langley one ounce trigger mated to a two groove Benchmark 21 inch barrel. I have taken 1st place in more then a few matches with this rifle using Midas Plus, R50, and Wolf MT. It loves all three of those ammo offerings. But it hates Tac 22, and Norma Match. When I tested both of these a year or so ago, around the same time you did I guess, I couldn't even come close to your results. My four group, 5 rounds per group average for Tac 22 was a lousy .806. My LabRadar data was, AVG 1025 ft/sec, a spread of 44 ft/sec and an SD of 11.6. Their Match ammo numbers were even worse. AVG-1039, Spread-74 and SD was 18.1. How anyone can market ammo with those numbers as "Match" ammo is beyond me. And how it's four group average came out better then TAC 22 I have no idea, but it did, with a .692 four group average.
I have very little experience with shooting and even less with different brands of ammo. I've shot well with Tac 22 and Match 22. With the price difference tac22 is the way to go between the two. Especially when deals come around. I enjoyed the honest review. Even better since you this ammo was new to you.
i've watched these match ammo tests again since i now have a MTR barrel and i'm getting pretty much the same results as you across the board except sk pm and cci sv. cci sv actually does quite well but the sk pm doesn't do great, bout the same as tac 22. bad lot maybe... love the videos, cheers.
Picked some of this up at a local academy. Was out of my cci sv that had been doing so good for me and the Norma was all that was available. I didn't have high hopes for it but I was pleasantly surprised. Several different lots through the vudoo now and I've shot a couple in the .2 range at 50 yards. When I've shot at paper. Going to have to get out and do a 6x5. Edit to add this ammo runs $10 a box locally. It's loaded by rws and I believe I read somewhere that it may just be rebranded R50. Don't quote me on the R50 thing buy I do know it's loaded by rws.
Same here, My LGS was out of standard velocity CCI so I bought this in its place, I was surprised by how oily it was but it shot great out of my savage Mark II. My LGS had it for $7.99 per box with a 2 box limit, it sold out and when they got it back in stock 3 days later they were selling it for $10.99 per box. 🤨
This shoots very well in my CZ457 MTR and at $9 a box is a great value. It is now my go to ammo.. I managed a few 1.12” groups at 100 yards and hope to get better. Would love to see your results at 100 yards.
Will see if i can get my hands on some more. Usually i have a box and the process of fouling in the barrel and shooting the 50 yard groups leaves 5-10 rounds leftover
Interested in seeing Wolf Match as well. I know it's titled match, but brining CCI SV into the mix as a control to compare would be nice too in my humble opinion. I know SK LR and Wolf Match have performed better for me, but CCI is what I enjoy most of the time with not much of a loss in grouping compared to those costing twice as much for me personally.
Question. If one took all 5 of those orange targets, and pile all 5 groups on top of each other, for a 25 shot composite group, would that be a better indicator of the rifle/ammo accuracy capability than the average of 5 groups?
I prefer to keep the groups either 5 or 10 round groups. If you shot 4 .2" groups and 1 group had 1 flyer making it 1" would it be fair to say that ammo and gun is a 1" gun. The averaging helps me get a realistic feel for what the gun and ammo can do
Thanks for doing that Josh. I was curious how that would shot out of your cz. That may be my next rifle as I go down the 22LR rabbit hole. I just started down this path at the beginning of the year, using what I already have a savage mkII . I initially started shooting the VOD matches with SK rifle match (I overpaid for it from a big name online retailer). I haven’t been able to find the SK, Eley, or Lapua; so I thought I would give this stuff a try. In my testing it shot very similar to the SK rifle match out of my rifle as well. I am able to fine this ammo online at the price that you mentioned, so I may get some more of it. Thanks again.
It's maybe to tricky to film . But a how too on getting standard trigger to 1lb would be amazing as there isn't one on RUclips 😜👍 your content and quality is great
Nice video, Can you tell us a little more about the scope you are using and the price ? Thank you 👍🏻 How about an ammo group test using or comparing an Anschutz 1761 D HB & Anschutz 1710 D HB.
The optic is an Athlon Helios BTR Gen 2 i got from my buddies over at ncprecisionoptics.com They run around 600ish if i recall correctly. Its a super nice optic for the money. Id love to test the new competition anschutz but the price tag of 3k makes it hard on a poor guy lol
Another one to consider trying is the RWS R50. That also grouped well for me. I'm sure that you do not want to try too many because it may become unwieldy, but those were good in my experience.
This Tac is definitely a good go to for Target Practice plinking @ 3.99 a box Cant beat Iv been shooting a bunch of the “New”Norma Match as well but currently there not even listed on there site 1/22/23 they tend to hang up here and there but can’t beat the price @ Rural King No limit.🇺🇸🍻🎯
My only issue with this ammo is the oil it’s covered in gets all over your fingers when loading the mags. Other than that it’s decent ammo I’ve had no issues shooting it suppressed
Agree with other comments. This is made by RWS, and could be like what SK is to center-x. In my MTR, this shoots very well. Shooting better than Eley Match, but might be that I just found a good lot of Norma. More testing will tell.
Rumored to be close to RWS target maybe even made by them. I paid 100 bucks for a brick a couple of weeks ago for it almost what I used to pay for Centerx. It was a little hard to chamber in my RimX also I still haven't tried it in my 513 Matchmaster. Shot OK, a couple of fliers but I'm good at that.
do you watch [ Mark & Sam after work ]they shoot extra long range ELR .JUST DONE A REWORK ON .22 SUBSONIC & SONIC AT 300 YARDS . THEY DO SHOOT AT 500 YARDS & 1000 WITH ..22
Why not at least hang some ribbons down range? If you are looking to showcase the accuracy of a particular ammo, as a short range and long range BR competitor and 1k record holder (2002 IBS), it's important to know what the wind is doing? I am just getting into rimfire but can't see how you can accurately compare ammo with no flags. I do appreciate your testing.
Great video Josh. I was very curious to see your outcome with the Norma tac. It shots really well out of my B14r. I have had sub 1/2" moa 5 shot groups from a 100 yards several times with it. Shots good for the price point. Keep up the great videos.
@@PursuitofAccuracy yes, but I like them because of the majority are pretty tight. They are damn good for a fourth the price of premium stuff. My S & L is heavier than MTR, but I'm gonna get a squirrel with it this fall. Has no safety, but I can de cock it until I'm ready. Just because it's there.
If you haven't watched a STKO video, here on YT, I would give him a look. He has some very interesting vids regarding .22lr accuracy that will make you scratch your noggin! ;)
Thanks for your dedication to the 22 LR.
Appreciate ya Terry. Thanks for the continued support

Still not too shabby when you consider its price and performance when compared to the other 22lr ammo you have tested. Dennis.
Yeah not too bad

Bahahahahahahahaha
So how do all of these match ammo’s compare with CCI SV ? Perhaps as a baseline comparison
At 50 its gonna be better but not blowing it out the water. At 100 and beyond....total blowout
Love this series man.... p.s. sale me a 10rnd mag hahaha keep up the good work, loving the channel
Appreciate it! Wish i had enough to sell some right now haha
Hey man, try out the limb saver rubber barrel tuners. Barrel Harmonics and 22lr go hand in hand.
Im looking at testing a barrel tuner soon
I've had some good groups with the SK flatnose match in my 457. Not quite as good for me as the Eley black box match but close.

I havent as I have no real control over that shooting factory ammo

Another great video. Would you care to comment on a realist group size at 100 yards when you get .50” at 50 yards.
Its hard to say really. Ive seen ammo shoot the same at 100 as 50 and some that shot .3 at 50 and 1" at 100.

What is that around the objective end of the scope, looks sorta like grip tape?
It was grip tape. At the time i was using the optic as something to steady the rifle
