    This video was pretty honest and straightforward. I cannot wait to buy one.
    Thanks, bro.

    I have this sprayer too. You can paint large areas fast!! My experience so far is PPG wall and ceiling paint flowed pretty well. Behr paint not so much. I’m going to add conditioner and see if that helps it.

    A quick internet search shows that one gallon of drywall primer should cover 200 to 300 sq. ft. It would appear that using the sprayer is not the most efficient method for this type of project since this project required seven gallons of primer. This is likely due to overspray plus the overhead of priming the sprayer. Also, my understanding is when a sprayer is used professionally, there is one person who is spraying while another individual follows the person spraying with a roller. The speed advantage is the person with the roller does not need to spend time painting the paint tray.

      That's what I've read too. But I sprayed walls and ceilings. I didnt add up that square footage. 350 sq ft was only the floor area.

      I've done a bunch of research on backrolling after painting and this video sums it up perfectly. It's not something you always do, but rather, it's done when it's called for. ruclips.net/video/cfp5Ks49aVQ/видео.html

      that will save a couple of gallons at least since you'll smooth out the primer across the surface evenly. Still needs 5 gallons given the total area.

    The foot print of the room does not equal the total square footage of the project. You must take the square footage of all surfaces to be painted and add those together before making your calculation against the 300 to 400 ft.² per gallon noted on the can

    I have the same sprayer, and you definitely need to factor in some paint waste. I painted five 4x8 sheets of plywood. 2 coats on each side, used about 2.5 gallons of paint. At about $60/gallon. Also would highly recommend upgrading to the swivel gun as the hose is not very flexible.

    Great video. How long can the paint sprayer sit without being cleaned between coats?

    • @KevinNadeau
      @KevinNadeau  3 года назад +1

      Thank you. I'm not sure exactly, but I wouldn't let it sit for probably more than 30 min. Guess it would depend on temperature and humidity too.

      I just sprayed three bedrooms with my x7. We taped the opening of the can where the suction tube is and put a garbage bag over paint and sprayer. It sat overnight and next morning we applied another coat. Results were amazing. We are meticulous with cleaning and taking care of our tools so i wouldnt have done it if it was going to ruin the machine. We used Behr Marquee paint which requires at least an hour between coats. Hope that helps

    Soooo, 350sf of floor works out to about 17.5' by 20', est. 8' ceilings, equals 950sf painted, plus extra walls for bathroom, closets, etc...add a generous 25% for those and waste...comes to 1200sf painted. Guess it is hard to understand where 7 gal went, but the can estimate of 300-400 has always been low for me too, so I'll have extra on hand!
    These jackwagons who commented about "saving you money" obviously have forgotten that, besides less paint, they'll still charge you for their time, tools, overhead, etc.
    $300 sprayer + $65/5gal PVA primer (x2) + $225 topcoat? You're in for $650 and saved, I'd wager, $350 PLUS you now own a sprayer for other jobs!

    You needed to back roll the primer, unfortunately it’s not gonna adhere properly to new drywall.

    7.5 gallons for a 375sq ft room??

    • @KevinNadeau
      @KevinNadeau  3 года назад

      That sounds about right. We did walls and ceilings, so the actual painted square footage wass more than just the floor. I've always heard 1 gallon will cover about 350-400 sq. ft.

      This was my concern as well. I just received one for Father’s Day . From what I know of paint coverage, even being primer and new drywall and unsealed mudded walls, that seems to be about 2.5 - 3x amount of primer needed? Obviously the time saved is huge! Do you still feel worth it?
      Thanks for the informative videos. Keep them going. Not trying to be negative, just figuring the value of the sprayers.

      I think he forgot to thin it down. You need to thin primer when spraying it. If it's water based, you can thin it with a bit of water. If oil based, you can thin it with something else.

      From what I've read an X7 model would be better since it supports a larger tip but for your average home owner or handyman spraying on a limited basis the x5 seems to work. I'm just looking at buying one now and it's a toss up between the x5 and x7.

    • @KevinNadeau
      @KevinNadeau  3 года назад +4

      It was definitely a learning experience for me. and more fun than using a brush/roller. But you realize that I was painting more than 350 square feet, that was just the room's footprint size. The actual square footage that I painted (walls and ceilings) was much more than that.
