You're new channel. I agree 100%, shorts will bring down the metrics as well. Also, I've gained about 99% of subs from long form videos. If they choose to watch only 2 minutes of a 5 minute video, and you gain a few subs from it, it's worth it than producing a short for 30 seconds and getting a thousand views and gaining no subs and they only watch 12 seconds of that short. There are two separate algorithm's for shorts and long-form videos but they both contribute to the total. Shorts will bring down that total if people just don't watch it. @@99midnightgamer That’s true, for now though I think I’m just gonna make short form content for Instagram reels. I might post some of that short form content on RUclips every now and then however in the future.

Shorts are good for advertising your channel. Im not a fan of shorts but they do come in handy for clipping funny moments.
