Lifetime timing chain? Ha ha hind sight is a wonderful thing. We see them failed from 40000 miles at least they can be changed without dropping the sump! We have seen a few with broken plastic chain guides then the sump has to come off to clean it out of all the bits of plastic. They have gone back to timing belts now ! As usual customers have carried the engine testing ( often at their own expense) that the VAG group should have done.
Big joke ... The timing chain and tensioner does not last the life of the engine ... Early as 50 000 km you can expect to have problems with the timing chain and tensioner.
Volkswagen/Audi should make these Engines Easier to work on...! Granted that a strip down repair of these engines should take at least a whole day but if you have 20 Vehicles a week to repair..! You are bound to neglect some of the additional intricate details that have been added to Repair these Cars..! Additionally you could not take the Engine out and Attack it with your Bag Of Spanners and have a hope of a Successful Repair...!🤔🤔😇😇👍👍
For those who're curious to know, this video is from 2008 (as mentioned in the video).

Wow! what a great video. Part 2 was excellent. Just like part one. I learned a lot. Thank you for making it.
Seeing part 1 and part 2, I just have to say that I love Germans!
Fuel filter will never need changing? lol.
Almost as funny as saying the chain and v belt will last the lifetime of the car haha 🤦♂️
Repair manual where do I get them please?
Thanks
need it. do you have it?

True. Horrible design. The chain will stretch
That made me laugh. I'm only watching this video as my timing chain, or its tensioner, need to be replaced!
It depends on the version of the TSI 1.4 twin. CTHA has a better chain. ~100k km without replacement.
This is NOT the latest 1.4 TFSI COD 150 HP Engine. That latest engine has a Cam Belt and not a timing chain.

Does this engine has an EGR valve
No it doesn't...they variable inlet timing means they don't need it
Salam qardaş bunu azərbaycan dilində edə bilmızsən???
Great engine, but as always Germans like to over engineer their engines.
