After carrying out a 2-stage preparation using Meguiar's ULTIMATE COMPOUND and Meguiar's ULTIMATE POLISH, then finishing/protecting the car with ULTIMATE LIQUID WAX (full video link below), the car has been driven normally and used daily for around 5 weeks in a rural setting (lots of farmers!) and during what was still a stormy, wintery period.
In this video, I carried out a basic maintenance wash - wheels cleaned, pre-rinse, pre-wash and 2 bucket, multi-mitt safe wash - with no other finishing products or top ups used. I then dried the vehicle off, dressed the tyres and inspected the results. See below for full list of products used and, more importantly, enjoy the video...

Good follow up to the original video, it's great to see how stuff performs long term rather than just initial thoughts at the time of use.
Don't ever apologise for saying you don't like a product if it's true. People like us rely on RUclipsrs like you to tell us the truth so we can spend our hard earned cash appropriately. If you have spent cash on a product, or indeed been gifted a product by a supplier or manufacturer and don't think it cuts the mustard, then your honest opinion helps the rest of us avoid making the same "mistakes."
Thanks for the info dude.
I may be daft at times and I may do things wrong on occasion... But I will always be honest, whether a product was purchased or presented... Appreciate the comments, thank you for taking the time, it's very much appreciated 👍🏼😁
Another good video Mark...enjoying more and more everytime...great craic...proud mum..😜😋👍
🤣 Glad I could entertain you... Your car's next!
Thank you for the video, interesting.
I'd like to just make one point though.
You say pre rinsing the dust off first is a good idea. Unfortunately this has been proven on many detailing channels to be a bad idea.
If the car is really grimy and you are using a pre wash, like a citrus degreasing pre wash, or even an acidic traffic film remover, these work best when applied directly onto the dirt. Even if you are simply snow foaming, again, snow foam works best when applied directly to a dry dirty car.
So many detailing channels have done comparison tests between pre jet washing the worst off, and than applying products, or just applying product on a dry car, and every single time the product on a dry car has removed more of the dirt and grime.
Pre rinsing just creates a water layer which stops the chemical being as effective, and basically waters it down. A good cleaning product will dissolve the dirt, and does not work as well if it has been watered down with a layer of pre rinse water.
As a hobby detailer myself, and previously rinsed the worst off thinking it was obviously the best way, I learned and tried the product on a dirty car method, and it is absolutely true, it works better.
This car wasn't even that dirty to be honest.
I use Bilt Hamber auto foam, it has a PH of 12 (touchless has a PH of 11), so both work due to their alkaline content, so putting those on a layer of water weakens them and reduces the PH to nearer 7 (water). And rinsing snow foam from the bottom upwards, oh dear, I see you have been watching too many bro science detailing videos.
That Meguiars looks to be pretty much done. Soft99 Fusso coat still has very good beading after 4 months, and I wash my car every week.
Thanks for your comment although you could've saved yourself a lot of time and watched my more recent stuff (this particular video was made in 2021 🤣) I actually I'd another video about a year after that demonstrating exactly what you said, that pre-rinsing has no benefit whatsoever
ruclips.net/video/qHXeFgqKhw4/видео.html
As for rinsing from the bottom, I responded to you yesterday on another of my videos (the BH Double Speed Wax one if I remember correctly) explaining that it's a personal preference and nobody can prove either way is better - we all just do what works for us 👍🏼
@@SparkleanAutos Ah yes, apologies.
I do remember your reply, and it's probably because I subscribed to your channel I am now getting older videos in my recommended.
Sorry for the confusion, and thank you for the content, I will no doubt work my way through your back cat of stuff, and do my best not to repeat myself, apologies again.
@DjNikGnashers repeat yourself as much as you like, every interaction is good for the channel 😂 and thank you for subscribing and watching them, every view really is appreciated 👍🏼
Good to see a follow up review 👍
I’m waiting to use the meguiars hybrid ceramic liquid wax soon. See how it fairs out
Hopefully better than Ultimate Liquid Wax lol
Newer products should be a lot better, this one doesn't make any claims so I can't be too harsh, but I'm not blown away by it 🤷🏻♂️
First things first Mark. 07:40 Olé! 😎
Thanks for the cheeky little name drop 👍🏻
As always a great video and a good honest review of the wax and drying towel.
Keep up the good work and you've definitely put a smile on my face 👍🏻
Haha thought you'd like that 😅
Have to be honest Paul, some people may not like it but it's the only way to be respected.
Glad you enjoyed the video and hopefully won't be as long until the next 👍🏼
Good honest review of the wax & drying towel Mark. As always a great video to watch with some good tips.
Was disappointed tbh with both but have to call it as I see it 🤷🏻♂️ no point bluffing and giving people the wrong impression
@@SparkleanAutos spot on mate, no point in bulk otherwise why do the channel. 👍👍
Exactly why I wanted to do it, have some fun and give my own opinion to anyone bored enough to listen 🤣
@@SparkleanAutos my comment meant to say bull. I love your channel because you say it as it is and people will trust what you say. I have 4 videos scheduled and 2 of them are poor reviews but that’s how I see it🤷♂️🤷♂️
@@ObsessiveCarDetailer I read it as bull... Only noticed the typo when you pointed it out 🤣 100% agree Martin, and that's why I enjoy your channel so much - I know that you'll tell the truth, regardless of the brand. No favouritism, only way to be respected 👍🏼
I recently went from 25 year's of bike's to a car. I didn't do much research on products. Just headed to Halfords and bought Maguire's and Autoglym. I wish I'd known about Bilt hamber earlier.
You can't go wrong with Meguiars or Autoglym - they're safe, easy to use and you can't really go wrong... I just find this particular wax doesn't last very long - but it is a pleasure to use!! I'm going to do another video on it soon clarifying my feelings on it lol
@@SparkleanAutos I am happy with the products I bought. But feel there's other options I should have looked at first. I'm only detailing my own car. It does look well once done and the Maguire's ceramic spray is easy to use.
Another awesome Sparklean production!!, I was hypnotised by the slo mo footage with the excellent music.
So what’s the plans for further protection on the jag?, can’t leave the poor car all polished with a shite LSP, hoping to see it on another video soon 👍
I have just the thing in mind... Watch this space 😉😉
And thanks for the comments and support as always mate 😁👍🏼
Looking good Mark, great video. LIttle tip with the onyx, you will find you will use less product if you use the trigger spray to apply to your applicator pad or direct to the tyre. Should eliminate any sling 👍
Thanks Gavin. And I know 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ I didn't have any triggers available (I have a box of them but they were at my 'studio' aka my mum and dad's garage lol)... Wasn't even going to show that part but didn't think anyone would notice 🤣🤣 whoops 😋
@@SparkleanAutos 🤣🤣🤣
Nice honest update not everything can be the best thing you’ve ever used... car still looks great but protection definitely lost its initial zing already, big if but if it does hang around like that for a couple more months then not too bad I suppose. And the drying towel looks like it’ll be relegated to wheel drying then 🤷🏻♂️
That's exactly what it'll be used for lol it is disappointing though because I genuinely like a lot of the pads and cloths from SGCB, unfortunately this one just didn't meet my expectations 🤷🏻♂️
I'll check the car again in a couple of weeks and maybe do another update... 👍🏼👍🏼
Good video Mark, got to say the wax looked poor even on the vertical panels for only one month in. The cars looking good from the level of effort you put in with polishing from the last video. Good work mate.
Cheers Dave! I already knew it wouldn't be amazing but with the amount of prep work I put in, as you say, I would expect more than 4-5 weeks protection 🤷🏻♂️
Car still looked good but definitely not dying to use it again!
It looks like there's no wax on that car at all , the water sheets off to some degree but also looks to cling to the car not completely running off.
Yip, pretty much... I think we can safely say this isn't a durable wax!! It's really nice to use at the time but you'd need to be applying it every 2-3 weeks!
I'm not sure if you watched the previous video where I applied it but given the amount off work that went into it, 2, 3 or 4 weeks just isn't good enough in my opinion.
Your car is beautiful. Thanks for the review on this wax... wish i saw this before buying it LOL
It's a good product, provided you don't mind reapplying it regularly - this is NOT along term protection product 👍🏼
@@SparkleanAutos Can you recommend a longer lasting product?
Depends on what you're looking for? Finish?water behaviour? Durability?
@@SparkleanAutos for me, 1. durability, 2. Water behavior, 3 finish
1. A good spray sealant -Turtle Wax Hydrophobic Sealant, Garage Therapy CS, or a good, durable paste Wax - Bilt Hamber DSW or Fusso 99
2. Hard to look past Sonax BSD for water behaviour!
3. Really subjective to be honest, Meg's Liquid Wax leaves a lovely finish if I'm honest, it's just not very durable!
All durability will be dependant on the amount of prep you put in 😊
Hi Mark, just found your channel and subscribed...appreciate your comments which are both positive and negative and that is very refreshing. Can you advise what you feel is the best drying towel in your opinion as I am looking to change my Auto Finesse one. Cheers and keep up the good work 💪👏👍
Hi Chris. Thank you for the subscription and for commenting, it is very much appreciated when people take the time to comment and yes, I will always be honest in my appraisals, regardless of whether I bought products or received them as a 'gift'
I'm currently using 2 towels regularly and I've included a link below for each - for the record, I have no affiliation with this particular store, this is just where I buy the majority of my products, the same items are available elsewhere 👍🏼😁. I have another older towel which I still use specifically for the Mini in the Bilt Hamber videos, the Liquid Elements Silver back XL I believe it's called, which I purchased on amazon - the reason I keep this for that specific purpose is the fact I would occasionally use Bilt Hamber Auto QD (watered down) as a drying aid and I don't want to potentially contaminate my other towels. I hope this info helps, apologies for waffling on!

Thank you 🙌🏼🙂
I used this on a faded paint red car, looks like it restored the original darker look but only lasted about 10 days.
Hi Shane. It's a great product to apply in terms of ease of use etc and looks great initially but it's definitely not one for long term protection!
@@SparkleanAutos Do you know what gives long term protection?
Lots of good products out there but for a quick, inexpensive and very durable protection, it's hard to look past Bilt Hamber Double Speed-Wax or if you have a day (or 2!) to carry out a proper decontamination and paintwork preparation - Garage Therapy Ceramic Sealant is another really good product that's easy to use 👍🏼👍🏼
@@SparkleanAutos Thanks, its for a red car, only 5 years old but the bonnet has gone pink, the rest of the bodywork has kept its original red colour.
Surely if its only 5 years old there's still manufacturers warranty on the paintwork?? Most offer 10 years paintwork warranty as a minimum? What sort of car is it?
Not sure to either use gold class or ultimate class. I've used both but just want longest longevity and good shine.can you double these waxes up and if so which would be the first wax to lay down. Thanks.
I don't see any reason you couldn't layer them, but I would certainly leave a MINIMUM of an hour between layers/coats... As for longevity and compatibility, I wouldn't be qualified or experienced enough with Meguiar's products to answer that, might be better to contact them directly 👍🏼👍🏼
I recently purchased Meguiar's Ultimate Liquid Wax (haven't used it yet). I have a 2022 Hyundai Kona, I bought new last year. Can I use this product on the car's exterior black plastic trim to keep it from fading?
Whilst they say it's fine to use on all finishes - and I've never seen any white staining when application runs over onto the plastics - I would still use dedicated plastic trim products.
This product won't do your plastic trim any harm but, and particularly as your car is so new, the best thing to do is treat/protect the plastics regularly now with dedicated trim sealants, rather than wait until they fade before trying to restore them 👍🏼
@@SparkleanAutos Thanks for the quick reply.
@@mmsb13_420 Any time 👍🏼
Can I use wax paste with buffer machine instead of using it by a hand?
Just so happens I've made a short video in the very subject with this particular wax 😃
ruclips.net/video/c5vYGfCxig4/видео.html
Hopefully this answers your question 👍🏼😊
I am going to use both applications by a machine! Not sure if anybody done it before
did you do a claybar before compound and polishing
I did indeed, I'd never put a machine polisher near a car without coating it first 👍🏼
I actually spent 2 days on this car - ruclips.net/video/SQXP1vhDnO4/видео.html
1:10 can i ask what those yellow things are for?
They're hose roller guides - they stop your rubber hose getting stuck in the tyres which can be very frustrating (and damage the hose!)
amzn.to/43lSiFt
Another very good video Mark!
Good editing and very honest review ,well from meguiars I’ve tried loads of products ( my favourite is 205 compound) but not the one feature in your vid..
Great One sir !! Really liked the slow motion bit!
👍💪👌🏻
I've used a few myself, I think most people have as they're a very well marketed brand, particularly appealing to people when they first become interested on care care/detailing. The Compound and Polish from the same range are very good beginners products, and this one is very easy to use and effortless to remove... But the durability just isn't there for it to appeal to me.
Thanks for commenting and supporting as always Alan 👍🏼😉
@@SparkleanAutos
It is a pleasure sir!
Never been a fan of the "best in Halfords" meguires brand
Was never a huge fan myself, the Ultimate range is a good range for beginners to learn machine polishing but Liquid Wax is definitely not a good long-term protection product!!
@@SparkleanAutos totally agree. I feel that meguires fan boys have never tried the plethora of quality brands available as they only shop in the high street and fool themselves into thinkin that that is the best brand on the market! Rant over lol. Keep up the great work 😉
Haha thanks for the support Adrian 👍🏼😁
Hi Mark, new to your channel, but really enjoyed them. Reason I started watching is I've just bought an XF in black, paintwork isn't too bad, lots of stone chips, but other than that it's OK for now.
One thing I have noticed which i really hate is orange peel on the vertical part of the boot lid, I noticed the one you were cleaning had the same. What's the chance of a vid' showing removal of orange peel?
Keep up the great work!
That's an excellent idea for the future, I'm sure the owner wouldn't mind me resolving that particular issue! Thank you for the support 👍🏼
Are you from Northern Ireland by any chance?
I am indeed Matthew, North Antrim direction 👍🏼
@@SparkleanAutos thought I recognised the accent I'm from Carrick direction
@@matthewmcfadden2770 Small world lol
Why do people do wheels first? I always do wheels and tires last because theyre the dirtiest.
That's precisely why you should do them first, so that the contaminants being removed don't go onto your nice clean paintwork
You're actually washing your car under direct sunlight, right!
That's correct... Perfectly fine if you follow a few basic rules - keep the panel cool, wash small areas at a time and do NOT allow the product to dry...
I've actually done a video on that very subject 👍🏼
@@SparkleanAutos how could you make your panel cool if you are under direct sunlight?
By constantly misting them with cool water...
ruclips.net/video/njwlYjvn-OQ/видео.html
Also bare in mind, that was filmed in March, on the North Coast of Northern Ireland - it would've been 16/17 degrees max 👍🏼
