My name is Justin, and in this video, I talk about some of the things that I would say I personally love/hate about my Modified 2023 Toyota GR86. All the reasons i stated for both sides are all my opinion so please don't take something I say the wrong way. I appreciate all the support these past videos.

hey i'm wondering what's a fair price on a premium model and how much i should make a year to afford this car?
This is probably one of the cleanest and best looking gr86s i've seen. Too many people do too much. Less is more with this car.

What does “and stuff like that” actually refer to?
Why do you keep saying “for me, personally?” What’s the difference between “me” and “personally?” If you’re referring to yourself, then “personally” is implied.
@@zaamrod50 if I’m being honest man, still relatively new to the whole RUclips, and filming videos of myself stuff. I get kinda nervous when filming and tend to say stupid shit 😅. I’m sure with time I will get better, and maybe even be able to speak a sentence with proper grammar on film 😂
Nice build! I have had my black GR86 Base for about 6 months now, and it is a blast to drive around. I'm the same way where this was my first manual car under my ownership. Of course I have a few things I do not like about the car, but the pros out way the cons.
Pros
1. Driving it is so fun
2. Fairly practical for carrying stuff (I've went on Costco runs with this car and it fits a lot of stuff)
3. Clutch is very beginner friendly
4. The GR exhaust option from factory sounds great
5. Heel and toe is fairly easy to do
6. Hill assist is useful if you are scared of rolling back (It can be disabled)
7. Powersliding is easy to execute and control
8. Mods are becoming more available if not are currently available
Cons
1. The car does not come with spare tire and jack (You can source one from the previous generation and it fits)
2. Android Auto/Apple Car Play will occasionally disconnect
3. The steering wheel does not come out as far as I would want it to
4. Signal stock can be a learning curve
5. Interior space for your phone can be tricky
I can name more pros and cons about the car based on my experience, but I feel like these are the most notable in my opinion.
I appreciate you giving me your stand point on how you feel about the car. You actually mentioned some great things that I feel that I should have mentioned within the video. Like you stated I feel that even though there may be some cons with the car, the pros definitely do out way the cons. It’s Cool to hear that we also have a similar standpoint on some of the features as well though. How to take it to the track:
To fit the wheels, drop your rear seats, take wheels out of boxes, and slide ur front seas up a bit. Tools can go in under trunk area, helmet and other gear goes in passenger footwell.

I'm in the market for one how much did you pay for it at the dealer please? How bad was the markup please?
I actually ordered mine at alittle over MSPR last March and I ended up paying a bit of dealer fees once it finally arrived as well. In total I think it came out to around 35-36k if I remember correctly. Which isn’t to bad, considering when they first released some dealerships were marketing them up to near 50k. The market is alot better for these cars right now though, so you should look into getting one if you are interested in these cars 💪💙

I actually did try that, it could of been the way that I tried to put them into the car which is why they didn’t properly fit, I will definitely be trying again once I take the car out to the track. Thanks for the input fam 💪💯
Hey! Just to let you know that the back seats can actually fold down giving you more space
I’ll definitely have to take another look into it, and try fitting another set of wheel in it. The previous time I tried, I didn’t have the best of luck 🤷♂️

Oh and one thing you didn’t mention is the best part about that car the way it looks bro the body lines the stock body kit and the way it sits I mean look at it bro it’s freakin sexy

Imo the only thing to hate about this car is the fact it has only 228 hp. Even 255 would have been nice.
Tbh I’ve seen a few GR’s dyno’d and they actually all were around 220 ish WHP and more around 238-242 crank horsepower which is right around what Toyota claimed from the factory. Compared to the previous generation 86/BRZ this alone is levels above what these cars use to be. I appreciate the support though fam 🙏💙
I definitely want this car but idk if I should get manual or automatic. I can’t drive manual and want to learn but my city has insane traffic😅
Wassup fam, the 86/BRZ/FRS has been one of my dream cars to own since it was first released back in 2013. This was actually my first manual car that I’ve owned. Granted I have driven other manual cars before owning my 86, but this car is super easy to learn in if it’s your first time. I would say that if you are gonna buy this car, the only way to do it is to buy a 6spd if you truly want to have fun in it. That’s just my personal opinion though, at the end of the day do what you feel will truly make you happiest. Thanks for watching 👏💙
Love your car man it’s nice to see someone without to much money to throw into it still make the car look so clean and fun to drive!! I bought mine about 6 months ago brand new where I am they are still pre order only so very hard to get and maybe 3 in my county but I have the auto version still fun but I want to trade it in for the manual but I was wanting to keep the pearl white I love it but seeing yours with those wheels looks absolutely gorgeous. Maybe we can stay connected and exchange Info I’d love to take mine to a track day after putting on some better pads stocks ones don’t stop for nothing

The manual version of this car in my opinion is a blast to drive, maybe if you ever find another pearl white you could possible trade yours in if you wanted too badly enough. Wished they still made them in that blue 😢 can't get it in that colour here and there's like 8 GR86's on the used car market in the entire country. Will have to be the red one..
I saw that they recently said they have discontinued Neptune Blue. It’s very unfortunate to hear, I feel it the best color choice out of the options the provide from factory. I think the Red is 100% the way to go though, that was my backup if I somehow couldn’t get it in Neptune blue when I first ordered the car. I appreciate you watching the video, and for supporting. With the seats down I fit four wheels and tires unmounted. The boxes and having the seats up probably made it harder for you

@@Justinackerman_ in my case I had the wheels just in some reusable bags to keep them from scuffing, and put them 2x2 in the trunk. Then the tires I put in 2 stacks of 2 behind the drivers and passengers seat, with the seat a little further forward than usual.
When the tires were on the wheels I put two in the trunk area and two stacked behind the passenger seat on the folded rear seats.
@@seanmackay6739 So i actually just went to the track and drove a 4-5 hour trip there and back with the car. Thankfully didn’t need to bring any other wheels or tires with me, but I’m the scenario when I might need to bring some spare tires and wheels it’s great to here that you were able to make it work with yours. I’ll give this a shot the next time I need to do something like that. Really means alot to me, that you would take the time to help me out. Thank a lot homie 🤝💙

Honestly I don’t have any issue with them. I heard some people were experiencing issues with them hyper blinking, but thankfully haven’t experienced any issues myself. So at this point I enjoy them 💪 I appreciate your support fam it truly means a lot 👏

Does the car have to be fast or just look fast? in are economy with increase cost everywhere. As a car builder I built 2 Evo's . I don't think people build cars fast anymore.
Not sure where I am going with this build ( first 2 Mods I did! 3rd brake like because the car is so small and a ADRO swan wing :) next tomei dual exit exhaust or header.
This is the car to own any age for 2023 every day it feels like I am in a race car.

No sir, the car doesn’t have any sort of aftermarket tune on it, it is completely stock besides for the Cat-back Exhaust and the wheels tires and coilover’s. I truly appreciate the support fam 💪💙

I was considering it, but it would have been another 3-4 month wait, on top of the 8 months I had already had to wait. I figured I didn’t care as much for the slight difference it really has so I just decided a base model would be the best option. I can always add aftermarket parts to make it how I want. Thanks for the suggestion though fam 💪💯

I actually just recently replaced the stock header with some aftermarket PLM catless UEL headers. Really woke up the car a huge amount, and sounds insane.

Wheel’s specs and tires, how much did you lowered? I’m planning to buy one.
The wheels are 18x9.5+38 and the Tires are 245/35/18. In order to run this spec you’ll need aftermarket suspension. I went with BC Coilover’s, I have about a 2 inch drop on all 4 wheels. I hope this could help you out, thanks for watching 🤝💙
you know you can drop the rear seats to fit more stuff right?
Yeah I realize that, like I stated in the video though, I was able to get all 4 to fit, but they were jammed in the car a bit so I just thought it would be safer to only bring 3 wheels instead of all 4. I appreciate the support though fam 👏💙

I truly appreciate your support and feedback on the video fam it means a lot to me👏 Personally I knew I was going to buy aftermarket wheels, and change the spoiler on the rear to a carbon one eventually, alcantara honestly isn’t really my style too. So I felt there was no need to order a premium 86, all the added features would of delayed deliver of the car as well. Once again i appreciate the support sorry for the long answer 😅
@@Justinackerman_ of course brotha! yea I agree aftermarket wheels, tires and suspension definitely to change the look of your ride and make it more your style. I almost had a 22' 86 premium is Neptune last year but the deal ended up falling through unfortunately. I told myself it just wasn't meant to be right now, but that I would eventually get one within another year. So hopefully I can make that come to fruition. I know this a 50 50 question for everyone but would you recommend the manual over the auto? I have experience driving manual for only about a month and half. I enjoyed my time learning stick for sure but that time ended as the car i was learning in got in an accident. I also live in a town wear both would be fine so it isn't like there's a clear decision on which to get due to my everyday commute. Curious on your feedback bro! Now I'm the one who's sorry for the long reply lol

My personal opinion I only would buy this car if it was in a Manual transmission, not that there is anything wrong with the auto for this car, but when getting a car that weighs as little as this thing does, and for having only about 240 hp having a manual really allows you to connect with the car alot more and makes you just enjoy it so much more. This is all personal opinion like I stated before the auto for this car is fine, but for me the 6spd is the way to go 💪💪💪

How you get the pops so consistently?
It just from me putting the clutch in and revving the car, or on downshifts it does it as well, or on deceleration. It sounds insane in person fam, I appreciate the support 👏💙

Haha, it’s pretty crazy isn’t it? 😅 At the time of this video all I had done exhaust wise was just the AWE Track Catback. I’ve updated the exhaust I have on the car now with a PLM Catless UEL header on it as well, in case you wanted to check it out to see how it sounds now 💪💯

This is actually a base model 86, so it never came with a duck tail spoiler, I added a carbon fiber one to the car though and I think it set of the look perfectly in the rear. Thanks for watching the video 💙

MY DREAM car how you afford this?
I actually just turned 19, I still currently live with my parents. The 86/BRZ has been my dream car since the original FRS came out back in 2013. I’m blessed to say my father made a promise to me, that he would help me with the down payment when I go to buy a car. In which is kept his promise, and I pay for the monthly payments every month and the gas, ect… If you want something bad enough man, I promise that if you work towards it you will achieve those dreams. I hope you enjoyed the video, I know you’ll be apart of the 86 fam on day as well. 👏💙
