I really enjoyed your enthusiasm and positivity for your car. This is what driving is about for petrol heads. I've had my 86 for a month now and am always looking for reasons to drive it. And don't think this car is only for certain types of people. I'm 64, retired and can get my golf clubs in the boot, rear seats flat. I'm a very happy old man with my GR86 life!
After ten months I have zero regrets about my GR86. I didn't think I'd use it as a daily driver, but I was wrong. Such an engaging car. Oil starvation issues are apparently not related to RTV.
Very few people these days truly "love" their cars and that includes a lot of young men. I "love" my 2018 BRZ. Every time I sit in it and start up the engine, it's a thrill. Opening it up on a windy country road is a sublime experience.
Sometimes I'll have doubt on whether or not I made too impractical of a decision buying a 2 door sports car to daily. Everytime I hop in for a drive, the doubt goes away. Hands down one of the best driving experiences under 50k, though on longer road trips the road noise and occasional interior rattles do remind u of it's cheaper economy car roots
it's one of those things that you won't truly find out until you try it out. you either learn to live with the limitations of a sports coupe, or you realize that the tradeoffs aren't worth it. either way, you learn something about yourself :P i'm on 2 years with my supra and i love it. the 86 is significantly more practical though. i can't even fit two rear wheels in the trunk :'( they really should have had an 18" wheel option on the supra...
ay dude, great video! congrats on getting the car and its dope to see that you really do love it as much as you do! I'm from australia where we got one of the highest prices for the car, AND had to wait a full year after the rest of the world got them. I'm on a 3 year wait for the car, but it should be arriving around later november / early december, FINGERS CROSSED. watching videos like yours really helps the wait feel a little easier, and makes it feel like all this time and effort ive put into gettin the car will be worth it in the end. also i wanna correct something for you, since it seems you and a lot of other people seem to STILL believe in this when its not completely true. the engines on the cars that were blowing up weren't exclusively because of the RTV, the RTV build up on most cars isnt enough to completely block or cause major issues, of course its good to clean it up and there is a SMALL possibility that it could choke the oil pickup, but its not the main issue and its not the full story. basically ALL the gr86's and brz's that have been blowing up were tracked hard, and the real culprit of the issue is oil starvation. it turns out that taking hard right turns seems to drop the oil pressure a ton and starve the motor of oil, its also good to note that the majority of the cars that have had issues were NOT stock and had setups / mods which increased grip, therefore increasing the lateral G's they could hold as well, so if you have a stock car and youre driving it hard on normal roads, you should be alright it seems. this oil starvation issue isnt exclusive to these cars as well, its a fairly common issue, it was just unexpected from a new car so early into its lifespan is all. hope the car serves you well for years to come, thanks for making a good no bullshit personal review!
I appreciate you correcting me! I learned more about it actually right after I put together this video haha. I hope you receive yours soon, and I am glad that my video has impacted you positively while waiting for your car. More content to come soon!
I’m planning to get one of these very soon and this is the first time I’m hearing about the RTV issue. I’m a bit apprehensive about that but I’m sure this is something they would resolve in a next model.
Looking forward to mine! Getting it in two weeks. Red as the Neptune blue is no longer available in 2023 which is by far the nicest color to it. What exhaust is the best accordingly to general consensus? It's the only thing besides wide angle mirrors I'd change including deactivating the fake engine sound if I get fed up with it.
I adore my GR86 but the one real criticism I have is that the red line limiter is at 7200 rpm’s instead of where the dial shows it at 7500 rpm. It should really rev up to 7500 or adjust that dial.
good video bro. first video of urs ive watched so far, just subbed for the 86 content as im looking to pick one up soon. keep up the videos theres a lot of potential for you in yt
I must comment here, great video sir! You tell me more about car than all proffessional videos😄 nice job, I miss consumption infos, but I think this is also a great daily driver.. Enjoy the car its my new dream to chase
Cool video. I drive my gr86 up to 2 times a day and I don't commute to work with it. Every time is a lot of fun. Just hate paying so much money for premium gas though :-(
To be honest, I have never driven a first gen 86. As for my gen, the side mirrors are very nicely sized and do not give any bad blind spots. I would imagine yours won't be too far off from that. Good luck with your 86 and keep us updated!
Been watching dozens of vids on the Gr86 and this is one of the best. Its raw and honest, none of the fluff and trying to push anything so that the company will let you review the new models. It's a man who loves his car. I had a 2015 86 GTS Aero here Aus but it was written of when someone smashed into it while it was parked 😢 Been eyeing the new 86 and the RTV is the MAIN reason I have held off buying one (besides Toyota pricing is $4,000 more than the Subaru BRZ) Don't want to sound cheap but that's a 10% markup, and while I prefer the toyota badge, that 10% markup makes me consider the BRZ and putting the $$$ toward a spoiler similar to the aero since I loved it and also maybe circular lights like the old 86. I'm a 2JZ fanboy if you haven't noticed. Anyways wishing you all the best and I look forward to your upcoming videos.
That issue is a really big problem because you can drive the car and ignore it but if Toyota doesn’t fix the problem, eventually your warranty will run out of time and then you’re stuck with a ticking time bomb. And if you decide to sell the car just before the warranty expires you’ll likely have trouble selling it and you will take a hit if you do sell it. Not good, not good at all.
True but if treated properly and regular oil changes at the proper viscosity the fa24 should last quite a long time. Once she goes I plan on putting a straight 6 in.

Very happy to hear! Glad that anyone can find joy in this car.
your better off with a C8
Petrol heads is way cooler than "car guy" or "car girl" like we say in the USA

I have a 2023 premium AT and I agree with what you said about the steering. It’s insane how responsive it is! What a blast to drive 👌

Thank you man. I’m definitely getting this car now. You officially made me decide after months of thinking.
Glad I could help!
Yeah they are called tweeters but still like the car. Visibility doesn't look so great but it looks really good

Love your passion you have for your GR86 cracking car enjoy the car to the max !
Thanks, will do!

They have lots of choices for axle back systems. That is what I would recommend, they are cost efficient and make a difference.
What you're referring to when discussing RTV/warranty... exhaust not to blame, turbo might be, etc... is the Magnuson Moss law.

Nice video. I enjoy driving the GR86 in iRacing. Fun car!
dude knows his shit

Awesome thank you!
Great video dude! I’m looking into purchasing one soon and this video definitely helped ALOT. Deserves a sub for me. Keep up the grind :)
Thanks for the sub! And good luck!

Thanks! 👍
Did you get the performance exhaust with it? Sounds better than mine lol
I replaced the exhaust myself. Check out my upgrades video!
Is this an issue with the 24’s as well
We don't expect Subaru or Toyota to really make a change to this issue this year, due to no recalls or changes to the engine itself.
Keep the content coming dude 👍🏻

I can relate too lol. I just tell myself that I am making sure my car is performing the way it should by using 93.
Im 5'0 and I'm getting a 2017/18 GR86 for my first car, I was wondering if it has any big blind spots to worry about??
To be honest, I have never driven a first gen 86. As for my gen, the side mirrors are very nicely sized and do not give any bad blind spots. I would imagine yours won't be too far off from that. Good luck with your 86 and keep us updated!
@@ScrubsMedia24 Thank you so much!! Definitely will. If you ever drive a first gen ill definitely watch the review.
@@rott_3nthe first gen definitely has blind spots I owned a 2017 I know from experience I own a 2022 and the safety features definitely help
What exhaust do you have on it
As of now, we have an MBRP muffler delete axle back, and Tomei UEL headers.

Breaks my heart hearing about your 2015 86. Subaru or Toyota it is still an amazing car! Wish you nothing but luck with getting your BRZ!
hey brother love the car, wondering what you do for a living ??
keep up the content
Thank you! Currently a college student and work a normal job.
Can you remote start the car?
I do not have remote start, but I do plan on eventually having it installed.
Nice video, great car . Enjoy. Paul

Thanks 👍

What color is that called?
Toyota calls it “Neptune” Blue but other car companies have their own names/version of it. Such as Ford having “Grabber” Blue.
morpheus blue
Kevin vo got a red one
I just bought a 2023 GR86 Premium in the Raven Black color, can’t wait to make content on it just like you 🤝
Raven black is awesome! Happy to hear your excitement to make content as well :)
callmeCarson buys a GR86
Carson is my brother.
Your abuse of “um” is absolutely irritating, please work on it.btw driving stick is the only way
I appreciate the tip, but you are probably the 30th person to comment this on this video lol. Thank you though.
Like what you said, but please/PLEASE….stop saying UM!….you seem to know what to say, but PLEASE clean up how you say UMMM! WHY!
There are a lot of things wrong with this car. What is acceptable is individual based. This vehicle is not expensive, so expectations should match.
I get it. This car isn't for everyone. But it is for me.
