Le 15 février, sur l’autoroute 10 est à Brossard, ma Kia EV6 était parmi les 27 voitures endommagées par un nid-de-poule. De plus, ce nid-de-poule a endommagé environ le même nombre de voitures le 14 février et le MTQ avait été avisé, sans en faire la réparation. La roue et le pneu de ma voiture doivent être remplacés et il y a la possibilité de dommage à la direction et la suspension, ce qui sera vérifié lundi le 20 février chez le concessionnaire Kia.

It was one heck of a hole on highway 10 in Brossard. The hole took out 27 cars on the 15th of February alone. The worst part is that on the 14th about as many cars were also broken and the ministry of transport was advised, but nothing was done to fix the hole! Irony of ironies, shortly after my car was broken, guess who showed up and fixed the hole? Had they been there 1 hour earlier I would have been OK.

Story of Québécers lives i don’t know how many link kits and tie rods I’ve changed over the years on all the cars. These guys use inferior asphalt to guarantee repair contracts each season there should be a class action lawsuit against these crooks.
The roads here really do not last. To make things worse, with climate change, the temperature can swing form -20C to 5C over night, messing up the roads even more than in the past. I am fairly confident that this was the case here, but not taking action on the 14th is very negligent on the part of the Ministry of Transport.

The English subtitles worked well. Sucks you had to go through that André, glad it was not any worse. As they say, two seasons in Canada: winter and construction seasons.
@@macleanjp yep, it was pretty bad. I had to have the wheel and tire replaced, as well as have the car aligned. The pot hole was so big that it broke my flow-formed Fast EV05 wheel! I have still not received payment from the company responsible for the site and it is now in small claims court. I am waiting for a date.
it happened to me once, I filed a complaint, and all they did was mail me a letter stating that the national assembly passed a law to exempt them from all liability….pretty freakin convenient eh.
For many years I was under the impression that the indemnity law was bullet proof, but there are certain conditions under which a claim will be paid and I have all of the conditions met. You have to prove negligence, that is the big one, and not only do I have video of everything, but I have a recorded conversation with the towing company that has exclusivity for the area, proving they had advised the MTQ the day before where about the same number of vehicles were damaged. The other conditions are met as well, so this should be a slam dunk for me. Plus the fact that I can take this to the media because about 50 cars broken by one hole in 2 days is pretty bad.

I feel your pain, been lucky to escape damage here🇬🇧 so far but our roads are always in a terrible state after the first few winter freezes. Consequently not sure how compensation is dealt with...
One observation... I love how you naturally swore profusely in English! How lovely to have two languages at the tip of your tongue in which to really express your feelings....and how ironic then that we, over here, ask for pardon for that sort of language with the expression "excuse my French"!

Thanks Jude. Most of the time, when I do actually swear, I swear in English since it is my first language, but occasionally when I am in a very French situation I tend to throw out a good, strong French swear because it just "feels" better. This was more of a guttural, from the heart swear 😎

@FireballYT have you ever heard two fluent Italians talking together, or two Mexicans, or two Chinese people? The cadence of speech is generally fast, especially for those who don't speak the language. Had I been speaking Madarin would you have said "typically Chinese", or would that come off as racist? How is it any different for me? Just because I am a white guy speaking French does not diminish the sentiment of the comment, or the perception of that kind of comment. Also, the reason I was speaking much faster than I usually do is because I was on an open overpass, it was pretty cold, especially with the wind, and there was nowhere for me to warm up as the car I had was a 5 minute walk away. Just sayin'.

I hope you were successful in recovering your costs, good idea with the video! Otherwise, you may want to check if you purchased a road-hazard warranty with your tires. My son had two (2) tires replaced for free in one year using that warranty (not sure about rims though?). Cost when purchased was something like $6 per tire.
I have still not received payment for my claim made with the company responsible for the site and I have I filed the issue in small claims court because of the difficulties I had with them. I am still waiting for my court date. The accident broke my new Fast EV05 flow-formed wheel, broke the tire, and I had to have the car aligned. I also had the car inspected for other damage while it was at the dealer and fortunately there was no other damage found.
Excellente vidéo André et une chance qu’il n’y a pas eu de personne blessé. Par contre, c’est inexcusable de la part du ministère de ne pas avoir été plus rapide à prendre action et malheureusement ce genre de situation arrive trop fréquemment. Merci de nous informer car je ne savais pas que ce genre de site existait.

Je suis passé par là et j'ai aussi faillit endommager mon véhicule. Ce qui avait attiré mon attention, c'était la voiture de police avec gyrophares et environ 4 à 6 voitures sur l'accotement.
Je suis heureux que vous n'avez pas eu à subir le trouble et les dépenses que ça causé pour plusieurs personnes. De plus, la reclamation est loin d'être simple. Mais je suis presque rendu au bout avec ma 3ième demande; la dernière au groupe d'assurances de la compagnie de construction qui gère le chantier de l'autoroute 10 dans ce secteur. J'ai envoyé l'ensemble des preuves, incluant un beau montage vidéo de tout. Je suis heureux de savoir comment faire des belles vidéos que je puisse leur fournir 😎
My french isn't what it used to be from when I lived in your region. Sorry this happened to you. I was in Montreal this past weekend and one thing I noticed was how bad the roads were. I thought we had terrible roads where I live but at the very least, I can rely on highways to be without pot holes.
Yep, our roads are terrible because the province uses subpar contractors, or at least they use contractors that use subpar methods and materials. Our roads are constantly under repair and never in good condition. I think they use the old Zellers addage, lowest price is the law, for any road repairs.

@@EV-olution I saw that feature but figured I'll try to understand it without cheating :) Would love to pick up French again, I used to be fluent a few decades ago, but being immersed in languages other than French makes you forget it. I grew up in the Pierrefonds area of Montreal, it will always be close to my heart.
How much did it cost Andre to repair the damage? Do you think if you had gone with 235/60r18’s or 255/55r18’s on EV01+18’s instead of 235/55r19’s on EV05/19’s the damage would have been reduced?
The total expense, at the advantageous costs I get because of my connections, was still 1300$. Having an 18 inch wheel would not have made a difference. Two days ago an 18 wheeler was taken out by a similar pothole on the same highway, near where my car was damaged. It is just ridiculous that nothing is safe on our roads.

@@bobstevenson4396 I am not making an insurance claim as it would impact my insurance cost. I have made a claim to the MTQ since there is proof of negligence.
@@EV-olution Interesting in BC our insurance is with the government (ICBC) so the same entity would pay out either way. I would think with 18” rims the car would need to drop 0.5” further before the rims would contact as hard as a 19” rim would. What did you need replaced 2 tires & 2 wheels?
@@bobstevenson4396 the claim is to the construction company that manages the highway construction site so it is their insurance that will pay, not affecting my insurance in any way. I "only" needed a new front right wheel and tire, plus full inspection and 4 wheel alignment, plus gas for the car I used during the 5 days I did not have my car. As for the 0.5" difference with an 18" wheel, it makes no difference as the impact was far to great. As shown in my video, the car with the smaller diameter steel wheel not only had the tire blown out, but the steel wheel was crushed inwards. The hole was huge.

Mon fils avait endommagé 2 pneus dans le même pothole à Montréal l'année passée. Pas de récompensation.
C'est difficile de rencontrer l'ensemble de critères car le point numéro un et de prouver négligence de la part du MTQ. J'ai enregistré une conversation avec la compagnie de remorquage exclusive qui ont dit avoir avisé le MTQ le 14 février quand environ le même nombre de voitures ont été endommagées, en plus des autres vidéos que j'ai fait. Donc en théorie j'ai ce qu'il faut pour être payé et d'aller aux médias.
