I have used the Cetaphil one and it’s is great - Does leave a white cast but I am okay with that and the LRP 100 is great for the summer!! And I just ordered the Bondi Sands SPF 50 super excited 😆
Great information. Was looking for a higher SPF for outdoor since I’m not using Retinol and need more protection. Many of these are reasonably priced so that’s a plus. Could you review the new Korean sunscreens? Thank you.
Question: I have combo skin After cleansing I wait for 5 minutes and I apply tretinoin 0.025% before moisturizer I have been using it for 3 months now There is no active acne My concern is my skin has become more bumpier than before Before it was just the few active acne in my T zone Now I have small bumps all over my cheek What I have been doing wrong and how can I correct it??? Cleanser - CeraVe Foaming Cleanser Moisturizer - Neutrogena hydro boost gel
Dr. Liu, Thank you for recommending specific sun screen products. This was very helpful! I have a question about layering spf products: is it additive? If my sunscreen is spf 45, and my makeup is spf 40, is that equivalent to an spf 85? Thank you!
I have enjoyed your channel very much. Thank you for all the great information. I have sensitive skin and have always been unclear about sunscreen. Now I know what to buy.
Dr Liu, thanks for the review. I started to use only sunscreens with one of these filters: TriAsorB, Mexoryl 400 and titanium dioxide (optimal mix of small and large, whitening particles). Only those filters can provide best avaliable UVA 1 370 to 400 nm protection. The term "broad spectrum" actually means "90 % of attenuation by absoprtion up to 370 nm".
What are sunscreens you like that fit the above criteria? I'm new to looking into sunscreen filters and read that most US ones don't provide good UVA coverage - do you have any suggestions (for oily skin would be a plus)? Thank you kindly!
I really have been loving the neogen day light airy!! What are your thoughts on hybrid sunscreens that have both chemical and physical filters? Is there any added benefit to those formulations if your skin is not sensitive and can tolerate both?
can i use the bioree one. i have oily acne prone skin. 1.i wasn't going out much for last 1 years but now i have to go out regularly and my skin produces the most oil. 2.i actually need sweat proof ( i hate sweat+pil mix) 3.i don't like the shiny / dewy feeling much
I have oily skin and what I use in summer is the Elta Md UV Elements Tinted or the ELf Invisble Spf 35 if Im not doing anything sporty, and the Neutrogena Hydro boost spf or the Balck Girl Sunscreen kids spf if Im going to be sweating a little. If Im going to be hiking and the like I use the latter 2 but I wish i had a water resistant mineral spf I could reapply instead withouth being super greasy, even if it has a cast, and comes in a large bottle.
can I still re apply the sunscreen during day when my face becomes slightly oily? or should I use tissue to wipe off the oil first before re applying? or I just re apply directly on the oily skin? thanks
Can you recommend sunscreen for sensitive skin that’s in a dry climate like Florida, hyaluronic acid tends to break me out not sure if that’s due to my severe dry skin or weather here
@@Alexellis738 can you share what site? Or you mean a European friend sent it to you? It’s so frustrating to hear how great that sunscreen is when we can’t buy it here.
@@maureengreen617 sure mine came sealed from eBay that was the only place I could think of online and if you’re not happy ebay will refund you Amazon I wouldn’t trust personally. Good luck!!!
Thanks but what about mineral sunscreens for Fitzpatrick skin types, IV, V and VI? Do you see patients with melanin rich skin in your practice? Are there any chemical sunscreens that for dry hyperpigmentation sensitive skin that will not leave my skin looking ashy or or grey or with a dark purple hue? Thanks
I can’t use neutrogena. They always sting my eyes. I do enjoy La Roche Posay, but eltamd uv clear and the Japanese skin aqua sunscreens are my favorite.
Can you please talk about uva protection in the sunscreens you talk about in your videos? Because we don’t really care about uvb, the sunscreen can be 50, 60 or 100 but what about their uva protection?! Thank you!
The only problem I have with Biore’s one is high amount of ethanol (maybe also fragrance)… it stings my face (not everyone tho). Asian sunscreens usually tend to include alcohol into the formulation. However, I found Rhoto Skin Aqua has two sunscreens which are alcohol-free. If sensitive and oily in summer months, they might be your best best friends. I’m an oily rosacea patient (so picky on sunscreens haha, even LRP stings my face). I’m Asian and our skin are oilier in general? Haha… love you, doc!
Thats one done said to lots of Asian sunscreens the alcohol allows for quick absorption but isn’t always the best for everyone. You can try few other brands like Beauty of Joseon I don’t believe that one has alcohol

Those are really great filters I wish there were more readily available in the US
What's an example of one you like?

I use Austrailian Gold Tinted sunscreen SPF 50 on my face
Is australian gold condidered broadspectrum? Do you know if it would be ok if i am a tretinoin user?
Me too! I love it. ☺️
I love Eltamd Uv Elements and use it every day

Sunscreens are best for summer
Hi Dr. Even oil spf50 needs to be one shot glass of spf as well.
I really need a sport sunscreen that won't worse my acne. Any recommendations?

Hi dr. Liu is it still possible to get tan even though you wear sunscreen and added protection like hats and umbrella?,
Possible. To get tan in shade. Thats why reapplying and also remember sun protective clothing to minimize sun damage

A necessary Ingredient for the formulation not harmful but may be irritating for some
Has anyone here ever use the life brand spary SPF 85
