If you don't mind a suggestion from an old body work guy every time you bare metal paint with weld through primer it will hold off the rust and as the name suggests you can weld through it no problem your local body shop supply place should be able to get it for you great job by the way Regards From Liverpool.

Heath my friend I would humbly suggest spray liner inside and out on the floor. You can still put padding an carpet down but it will completely seal the floor top and bottom. I recommend the Rihno liner products. Both the spray and roll on I have used. They work great and dry pretty fast.

I have watched every single one of your videos and look forward to them every week, I don't always comment on them , but I always put a thumbs up. One thing I have mentioned quite a few times is , when the weather is bad , even rain and sunshine, your vehicles and equipment could all do with some sort of shelter. Maybe when the weather breaks and you have finished your trail up the mountain, you might find some time( plus funds) as I know wood is very expensive at the moment and it would have to be a big shelter as you keep accumulating more equipment. Anyway whatever you do, I will continue to watch. Xx

As a young 17 who eloped with a man whose Dad was a body man, I was determined to deep my sons out of body work; just as determined, it seems for fate to make it happen. 4 times now, once in Gainesboro TN when my 51 year old son was born, again in Rhinelander, again in Minocqua where he died in a 100 year old highway removal garage. My son is now being narrowed into bodywork and I'm 77, here in Iron River MI. Sad that I have had to fight against the toxic job for so long.

Colby, I support the truckers. Something has to be done about the politicization of everything right now. I know Trump is a billionaire but like you said, they can do this to anyone they choose. If a sane person puts Trump’s presidency against Biden’s, he/she will see who did the better job. That should be how a presidency is won.

Dear Heath, I don't know if your interested but over here in SE London it seems like we are having no winter at all. Every day the weather is like either the beginning of autaum (fall) or the first parts of spring. It is nowhere near the normal low temps we should be having at this time of year There has been heavy rain storms but not as many as there should be for February. There has been no snow and not even sleet. In late March to early April the farmers start to turn the fields and get ready for planting by late April. If we are going to have a winter over here it had better be soon and quick as it will be to late to have one soon. Sorry this comment was long but I could not shrink it down any more. have a great day....

@jakobrebeki Well, those activities, yes. But we have other industries such as snow mobile builders, ski resorts, lots of winter festivals, ice fishing contests, ice sculpture contests, winter clothing manufacturers, etc. Another problem is that without the hard freezes the insects that hibernate under tree bark are not killed and wreak havoc on our orchard and lumber industries. For the rest of the year, with low water tables, farmers, ranchers, resorts, public parks, home gardeners, orchards, and arborists. And this is just Minnesota. The states around us are going to have a repeat of the problems we have had in years past. It's going to be rough.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
0 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.
    1 John
    Chapter 5:1-11 KJV
1Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
2By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
3For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
4For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
5Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
6This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.
7For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
8And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
9If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.
10He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.
11And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

Winter ops with tracked gear is tricky. Only had to resort to hoarding in the tracks and getting out the murphy-heaters once. After that we’ve always been fastidious when working in freezing temps. Once bitten, twice shy… This past November was tricky as we had a last-minute cleaning of dugout… warm enough that mud slurry was everywhere, cold enough overnight we couldn’t count on it to stay that around the tracks… So much shoveling.

I remember the old days, building out the main floor, different stoves, different batteries, #ledgergate 1 & 2, cabin in the woods build. man time flies.

Hope when you finish the 69 Ford truck you make it look extra special and give it to Cedar to drive around in and call it her own rather than just selling it for a quick buck!

Often you are your own worst enemy. You can't just use and abuse equipment and expect it to function properly. What's fun for viewers is you never seem to learn from the oopsy poo's. 👍👍👍

I don’t think your choice was questionable at all. It would cost you way more money than what you would have wanted to spend to get something a little more rust free. Also the years of truck you are looking for is harder & harder to find in good condition. Looking forward to seeing your truck done & path up the hill completed.

Have you considered putting a heavy coating of rhino lining on the floor of the truck and then covering the foot areas with rubber floor mats? Putting carpet down will keep the rust process going instead of preventing it. If your heart is set on carpet just get rubber floor mats with carpet on the top side to cover up those rough areas. Also the Rhino lining allows you to hose out mud and dirt when necessary. Just a suggestion you may have not considered.

Glad to see you using eye/ face protection when you're grinding. In your earlier videos you made me wince when you didn't use any protection.

Nice to see you got an easier winter with the snow, last year was off the charts. Also nice to see you have another vehicle project. It's always good to have something that satisfies your soul. Thanks for sharing!

When he puts clips of old videos, I watched those when they came out. I remember when he would heat up beans on the original wood burning stove haha

Knew a fellow who painted the under side of his pickup with used motor oil every time he changed oil. Never had a rust problem.

    Heath,
Do you get enough power from your solar panels during this time of year or do you have to run the generator a lot? Also did you keep both generators using one as a standby? Thanks

Great job Heath , personally I would rather take a truck like yours with a little bit of rust and fix it up than getting a "clean" truck where all the rust is hidden under gallons of bondo.

I criticize you would not repair the truck properly and seriously. But you seem to have changed your mind because I am happy with your work now. This will be good. Cool to see you making roads up the mountain. This will be really cool and good, I think. One thing I would like to add is that you also write in celsius because there are many of us who follow you who only know celsius. It would be great if you could post this.
