I love the way Cedar critiques his work without tearing him down. She’s awesome.
About time she told Heath where is idea belonged.
Thank goodness Cedar has good sense on the drywall texture stuff. I didn't like any of those either. But she was right about your creativity.
Praise the lord , no ridiculous texture 😂 good job cedar
A dirt road with no uphill ditch (with cross drains under the road) will continue to frustrate. Prayers for you and yours. 🙏🙂
Exactly. Ditch on the hillside side and dump the dirt on the road to build it. And of course culverts under the road to drain the ditches.
Same thought here! Culverts culverts! Divert that water, Road is going parallel to a stream at the bottom of a hillside…water will always be coming through:)
Yep.. It would be worth it for him to dig the ditch himself if nothing else; even if it is a county owned road.. At least in the worst areas. A couple of strategic culverts under the road to let the water cross and most of the problem would be solved. Not to mention that the road needs a bed of large rocks/ gravel as a base.
Put in a French drain at the top of the retaining wall & run a pipe down the side of the yard & under the road so it drains to the creek.
Isn't it just life, you come up with an idea and the wife changes your mind for you Its been like that for 46 years for me the wife is always right and you do just what she says. Happy wife happy life. It was nice of Ceder to offer a hand with the paint, you will find that as you both get a bit older you will both help each other out more and more. Its a nice time of life where you share more with each other and it brings you both together closer and closer. Thanks for posting
Cedar said it so well. Great creativity, but lots of work to maintain.
Run drain tile to move the water under the road bed, vibation compactor to get it flat and pack it. Driveway fabric and big stone. Without the driveway fabric any stone you put down will just get pushed down.
Yes!! In Alaska we use road fabric for almost everything
It may be time consuming rust repair but is also restoration of a really cool historical truck. It’s worth it.
You have a great gal there Heath. It’s obvious she loves you and cares enough to treat you well even if she doesn’t like your ideas. Hold tight to her, you have something many only dream of.
You've got a good partner! Supportive, but stands her ground. Good luck to you both on your journey.
If possible, you could try adding road fabric in the yard before putting gravel down. The road on the other hand ideally needs levelling, culverts placed, road fabric added then 6 inches of 4in- rock as a base toped of with 2in- gravel.
What a respite these visits are for me. They help me to ponder better things that I can do to make my little corner of the world a more peaceful loving place. Thank you both. Much love and respect.🫖📚🐈⬛🖖❄️
The truck has really come out very well!!😊 can't wait to see you driving it!!
Thank you for saving another classic from the crusher! Good music.
If we hang around long enough we will feel like we moved to mexico, equador or honduras. This old jarhead is in his 70's and I've never lived through times like this.
Wood chips saw dust for the road. Saw mills will gladly give them to you.smooth the road. Throw down as much you can, especially around curves.
As you are not doing the texture anymore you could build a frame for the 3 samples and hang on the wall as decoration.
There is a good story on this 3 samples and I’m sure if you hang it in the wall it will bing lots of conversations about it
Thank God your wife agreed with alot of your viewers to NOT use the chicken coop wire for the drywall!!
You should use some driveway cloth as an underlayment for your driveway so you do not keep having to get stone every other year or so.
Thank god for Cedar and her super delicate critique and view. Heath didn't appear to be butt hurt or take it personally and that is what I think a fantastic relationship should be. Heath, sometimes "KISS" is the best approach as we can always be extra critical of our work afterwards. At least you are not paralysed by indecision like me.
The truck is looking awesome.
If you're looking for vintage games on an arcade machine base, I know there is a trend of building old-style arcade machines with raspberry pi's in them that can emulate 1000s of games... Might be the easiest and cheapest way, instead of getting old arcade machines.
👍👍
This is the way!
Have any of you commenting on this ever played on the old machines? There is no comparison.
@@bendoing4598yes old Machines are great, but if you want more bang for your buck then above option is very cost effective and leaves ou with more options than 1.
Now that I am retired I am like the Cat in the Sun. Liked the song and enjoyed the whole video 🙏💞🙏😘
Amazon sells an inexpensive (Amazon brand) sound deading butal mat....that would be a nice touch on that truck and easy to do before you install the interior. I did the doors on my F150 and it helped. I also added the foam mat over the butal mat. That rust repair is a lot of work...turned out nice!
Welding without eye protection... shame shame. It seems every time i do it , my wife somehow finds out and hollers at me . Truck is looking good, hope all is well.
You’re doing a great restoration job on the truck and the rooms are going to be amazing, hang in there Heath, you do sound very tired and exhausted too😧.
Need to concrete and slab out that area between the shop and house maybe a carport too. Nice solid connector to work on. All that dirt dust and mud Gives me anxiety lol.
Only thing worse that listening to "mud" on sheetrock dry is watching it applied. Very boring.
LOOKING GOOD!
I have a '64 pot o gold pinball. Complete but needs work. I was going to make it work, but never got around to it. Could be another winter project. You can likely find something much closer than Texas though.
Kinda fun watching reindeer move in close to your filming!!! It is a wonderland out there for sure!!! You sure can accomplish a lot…ahhhh…to be young again👵🏼!!! Sometimes I feel like I am up tackling the painting and wallpapering of my younger years with you!!
That is going to be a nice truck when it is finished.
Frame your texture samples as wall art. Not everything has to be vintage, less is more. They are also part of you and the effort put into the design and construction of this part of your dream.
Where's your eye cover while doing touch-up work on the old truck?
Yes, I agree with your wife, however, I’ve been married for 36 years and women usually figure out what’s right. I have many ideas like you too Heth but like your wife said she’d likes to creativity.
You must be so relieved having that rust-proofing done, never to do it again.? The work on the apartment looks great!
Who are you trying to kid???
You will ALWAYS have some sort of "project" going that involves repairing and rebuilding - probably also rust repair because that is what metal does - IT RUSTS.
And that is what YOU DO - you FIX STUFF.
You will find some old broken down farm implement somewhere that will be useful on your homestead, you will buy it, you will fix it, you will restore it, you will use it - and we will watch.
Are beavers actively banned in your area at this time?
If not then maybe you can get a breeding pair from someone somewhere for the right price (that should be for no cost?) and let them go free and do what they do naturally.
It should be very interesting to watch the process of them establishing themselves on your land.
AND what effect they will have on the water ecology in the area.
Beaver dams will create a better ground water situation which will create better vegetation which will simply make for a better homestead.
But whatever you do, make sure that you are doing it legally, correct permits, permissions, species and all that stuff BECAUSE you do not want Fish and Wildlife to come around, hunt all the beavers AND leave you with a massive fine AND the bill.
Oh yes... Cedar is 200% correct about the finish on the walls - and you will be grateful when you DON'T have to repaint the rough surface every 6 months because rough finished are DIRT MAGNETS.
You can ask your good buddy in NH, Al Lumnah, to catch you a couple of his pesky beavers and send them your way...
If I may make a suggestion. Why don't you do a Concrete Apron against your retaining wall, with a couple of Catch pits, which has pipes under ground taking that water away from the house, then you limit the amount of water that can create mud.
Just grading the soil along the back of the house wont really solve your Problem. The pipes can run on the far side of the house, close to the Veggie garden.
you want to catch the water and re-route it away from the house (where you want it to go).
prediction, by the end of summer, another old truck project will be well underway, more trees will be cut down and the house and shop exterior will remain untouched. Please prove me wrong.
re-evaluate???? Last year you were stranded up there, unable to in our out with your vehicles. Sounds potentially dangerous to me.
So much time and work on yet another truck only to sell it within a year. I don't understand this man sometimes.
Thanks for invited us over. Everything you work on gives me new ideas on my projects. THANKS
Why cant your wife contribute and paint the walls? Shocking watching you having to do everything..
That truck cab looks AWESOME! WAY TO GO Heath. That's a sucky job to have to do but it probably will be around longer. Of course we hope you live to a ripe old age. ❤
You need 3/4 rock on that road but that would be spendy, would crushed asphalt work
IDK, Heath - The first thing I did when I bought an almost rust free truck in 2013... just the rocker panels needed to be replaced. Now, over 10 years later, it looks like they need to be done again soon. I never count out the rust... seems like it's inevitable.
For a brief moment, I thought you had gotten a new dog! but it was Bandit sporting his summer trim lol
Time consuming work, but well done, Heath! Thanks for sharing!
Heath...try talking to Al from Lumnah Acres.. he could probably send you a beaver or two...he's been trying his best to get rid of them since they keep flooding his property and roads lol
I had the same thought and was searching to see if there were any comments mentioning Al. How would anyone transport beavers? By plane?
The road looks like it gets worse every year I watch. The '69 repairs look great. The undertreatment will help keep rust at bay for years to come, if you keep it that long..lol 😂😅 Great to see the shop apartments coming full circle, drywall and rust repair you know. Love ya'll ❤
So if want a good wire use the easy grind By essab for your mig its night and day. Expensive but its worth it.
Many comments have recommended culverts on the sides of the road with under road piping to the ravine. There is no substitute. You have to do it if the matter is ever going to be resolved.
I wonder how many miles of Road you're going to have to rock??
I hate to say it , but I think you need a small road grader to keep your road flattened out.😊
Happy Sunday Red Poppy! Woohoo! Heath declared that he won’t do drywall ever again…THAT means the next project announcement will be a new house at the top of the mountain…with plenty of drywalling opportunities:)
Congrats on a job well done!!!
beavers are very important to the natural ecosystem!
Always a master class in how to do it right . . . . learn so much. #craftsman #quality
BTW if you keep welding like that you're going to go blind. I'm just trying to help ya out bud.
I remember when we bought some country property when I was a kid in the 70s. The seller said the creek ran year round. He lied. I still remember that. Such people plant rotten seeds that live long in memory.
Good evening Red Poppy 😊
Oooh you're early, 2100 here in the 🇬🇧 perfect timing 😊
Just another suggestion among so many others. I'm anxiously awaiting the rock wall to be completed. My suggestion is a heavy duty set of steps (RR ties) near each end similar to the water storage steps. With these wooden steps, they would be convenient if you decided to move your garden to the landing above the wall. Enjoyed following along from the get-go. Great Grandma Smith from SW Kansas.
Was he welding without a hood? That dude's lack of safety never ceases to amaze me.👎
Some road mix on the roads and proper drainage would do wonders for that road.
Watching from the uk 🇬🇧 👍👍👍
On the road again;. cant wait to get the truck back on the road again.....!
Nice video! Enjoyed watching! 😃👍❤️🚂💨💨💨💨💨
So nice to see light at the end of the tunnel in the shop! Next!!!❤🎉
You should do the interior floor & firewall with POR-15 & Dynamat. You’ll be amazed at how much the Dynamat cuts down the noise & heat from the diesel. Throw some pieces of the sound deadening on the roof (assuming you are doing a headliner), the back cab & in the doors too. You’ll be happy you did! It makes old trucks livable and comfortable.
After watching your many videos on vehicle builds, I'm sure the bump side diesel will be replaced in the future......
Heath! Do plaster of Paris accent walls in the shop bedrooms. Just do one wall with it. you can mix colors with the plaster of Paris, and apply it. You'll be happy you did!
Write that down "No more rust work and no more Drywall work. 😁👍
Can't wait to see what projects get prioritized ahead of the retaining wall this year. =)
Check with silver pin ball restoration in leech lake Minnesota ....he fixes and restores pin ball machines all eras and old video games l saw a pac man there once he makes them look like new he restored 1 of ours we have 2 with a western motif
Progress is progress.. one step at a time! Thank you for being you.
Oh my God the mud season is here😮!!!!!
I thought we were going to vote on the texture?LOL!!😂
Good job Cedar!
Love the buck in the background of the ad read. He's such a nice ol boy.
Hello Red Poppy! Mud season! You love mud season! LOL .......... I live in Vermont and know all about back roads and mud season! It is no fun!!
Hello Red Poppy Ranch from Ipswich, 🇬🇧
Thanks for the video.
Thank goodness Cedar prevails..........lol
It brings great joy to me, watching the different projects. The 69 should be passed down with the children. It is happy spouse, happy house.
🙋♀️❤️. Love watching the new rooms getting done! And thanks for telling us what we're listening to! Really enjoyed Be the Cat By Kylie Dailey!
I love rust free auto!!😅Too
07:25 ms packman and streetfighter are possible with a rasberry pie unit.
They just install it into the case of you r choice
Tabletop machines are GOOD.
It will run all the OLD GAMES .
I bet you r son can use one.and there cheap
On this episode of This Ole Truck…
Street Fighter, yeah boyyyy.
I wouldn’t buy the arcade games, they sell a USB or small drive that contains every single arcade game. We grew up with. Then just buy a single computer or something that you can project it up on the wall and play arcade games in high definition.
Your house and property is beautiful.
However, your muddy road is just awfully unsafe and dangerous. What can you do to make it better?
I have already voted for #2, and I still think so. That #3 which you do not like, is way too smooth in most places and looks very unfinished. #1 is also greatly unfinished. I hope you disregard Cedar's preference, as hard as that may be. If you do go that avenue, you will find yourself having to refinish it in fairly short time.
You are so good, you can do rust repair with your eyes closed, lol! Really bad for you as the UV rsys attack the sensitive skin of your eyelids. I've "sun"burned mine doing the same and the pain was awful for a couple of days. Glad to see you got this wrapped up!
We can see that you're not doing lots of welding but please do be mindful of the intense UV radiation given off by the arc. Even with short exposure it can be harmful. Cover up any exposed skin.
When I patch old rusty trucks.. I just leave the welds as they are and paint over it.. it gives the truck a rustic "patched" look and I think it gives it more character than turning it back to looking perfectly like stock. But that's just me. :) I do the same thing with my jeans and hoodies.. I'll throw a diamond patch over a rip and sew it on.. So now most of my clothing has a few patches and it all looks custom like some kind of fancy brand would do.
Best music accompaniment on RUclips, evey episode. Thanks from Chattanooga Tennessee
Everything is looking really good man! I see culverts in your future. Lol. Yeah if water can be a problem that’s for sure, but it sure is pretty up there.😊
Heath you should have a look at the graco quickshot or graco ultra for all your painting projects, honestly its amazing and makes painting 10X faster and less boring (if thats possible 😂), yes the prep on some occasions takes longer but everything after that is a breeze.
Heath why don't you buy a male and female Beaver and put them at the head of your creek? Also why don't you dig drainage ditches on the uphill side of your road and use the rubber drainage pipes to cross under the road to the creek?

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
John 14:1-11
King James Version
14 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?
10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.
