redpoppyranch.com We found a color we can agree on now it's time to strip and re stain the board and batten, Doug fir siding on our house. Music: www.epidemicsound.com
I'm surprised you didn't use a sprayer, unless it's hard to do with stain. And so your screen door doesn't slam, put a few velvet sticker tabs where it closes. That screen door looks great!
To help all sides match, as soon as the bucket you are using reaches the half way level, mix another bucket and pour the new bucket in with the original. Do this all the way through and everything will match.
Tip to get that stain in the roof rafters ; Get a cheap Garden Hand pump sprayer. The stain is thin enough to be sprayed through the nozzle, then you simply wipe the excess with a brush or rag. That stain looks like old red oak lumber. Pretty cool.
Finding a stain you like in the store and then on the wood, is a frustrating process. Pleased the remover worked and you both are happy with the result, well done!
Yep! That color stain does wonders for your house (and shop down the road). It's crazy how much difference a shade of stain can make regarding the esthetic of a home. I do have to say my heart hurt a bit for you as I was thinking about all the hard work required to make the strip & re-stain of the house happen and am glad I wasn't the one having to do it! LOL I'm excited to see the finished product though. The darker color will make all the details ... the tin, flower boxes, overhangs, etc, really pop now. It all sort of blended in and got lost with the gray. I am HORRIBLE at making those kinds of choices myself. But sometimes it takes seeing what doesn't work to help you understand what does. God bless you all. We'll catch you next week, Lord willing. ❤
Heath leave the siding alone! It’s looks beautiful the way it is and you’ve achieved that rustic look a lot of people strive to create! Relax for a change and sit down on the porch with your lovely bride and live life to the fullest!
My Dad was a painter for 30 years and taught be how valuable a sprayer is. Not only is it faster than using a brush or roller but the finish is smoother and more consistent than applying by hand. Boy those peaches look GOOD!!
Heath, as a long time subscriber, I really enjoy watching your ingenuity and creativity. I love the blower motor cage you’ve retrofitted into a mixing paddle for the stain. Keep it up man!
I just can’t make up my mind as to which I like more: the new colour of the siding or the colour of the peaches. Of course the peaches have a desirable taste and I have not tasted the siding. Well, I like them both. So both of you win. Congratulations!
The stain looks wonderful. Great job. I also love the awesome guitarists you selected for the back ground music. Good choice. Love what you guys are doing on red poppy ranch.
Cedar, you need a channel where you post videos about your cooking, canning, and gardening. I think you made a couple videos years ago, but I'd love to know more about canning. You're AWESOME!
Interesting to hear you talk about the Navajo Nation, me and my dad are electrical contractors and have done the electrical/automation for the bulk of their water systems and a handful of wastewater systems. I have spent the majority of my career and many nights out there.
I loved my grandparents screen door, but it was set to the explode level when it auto-closed to keep the mosquitoes and flies out in rural middle Ga. My grandfathers chair was right next to the door, so it only took once to catch it before is slammed. 😂
I have put quite a few of those wooden screen doors on over the years. Just can't beat the sound of those closing. reminds me of my childhood. You will probably need to put a turnbuckle on it after a while. They tend to sag. The ranch is looking good.
I have a the same big box screen door. The dogs tend to push the screen out at the bottom. I wound up reinforcing the bottom section with chicken wire, something similar to what you did on the steps in the shop. I highly recommend doing that sooner than later. You'll like that door a whole lot more if you don't have to keep fixing the screen.
I’ve been a viewer for many years but I believe this is my first time commenting , just wanted to say you have done an amazing job and continue to do so , and that stain is definitely the right choice
I look forward to next week. Round house will be amazing Peaches are my favorite fruit, then raspberries. They looked VERY DELICIOUS GOD BLESS YOU ❤❤❤SE MICHIGAN 🙏 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 THANK YOU FOR SHARING. GRAND to hear the bell ring from MEXICO 🎊 NUMBER 1
"youve come far pilgrim"!.....we just celebrated 2 years on our new farm...i remember when you were drilling the well.....thats how I found you folks ....Many Blessings! PS....i was just markin out my hogan the other day also! Ruger good boy....I lost a couple of good ones since him
Excellent choice on the stain color! It's beautiful! That screen door looks great too! And I agree with you on Cedar doing the canning...it is a lost "art" - the peaches look very tasty!
Love your work ethic and all you do to care for your family. I am always amazed at your many skills. You have so many more things to be responsible for than any head of household I have ever seen. You, I'm sure, you are better prepared for difficult times to come than most. I'm thinking that because of all of your hard work and all that you have there, you certainly wouldn't have any reason to have a "Bugout Bag." The Lord bless and protect you and your family in the coming days. We haven't missed one of your videos since your main house was framed. Tom & Beth Luck in Central Florida
I know most cooks don't wanna hear somebody else's ideas, but this is a proven asset to home canned peaches: place one pink wintergreen lozenge into each quart of peaches. Just try it on a jar or two..........see what I'm yammerin' about.
I sure do agree with you about storage of food and things that are lost over the years. Very very few young people today no have a can anything. I guess we all the folks when hard times come we'll have to teach the Younghans how to do it! Even down to storing eggs in limewater! Your place does remind me of days gone by. Your house is really getting to look so pretty and welcoming around that door to the kitchen. Such a pretty entryway I can just imagine the lovely smells of baking and cooking dinner coming from the kitchen. Thanks for sharing it!!
Wow so I been your fan for almost 7 years where does time go ,,,,One thing I have learned about you Heath you don’t jump into things ,you seem to wait about let’s say while ….Wonder what else I will see be safe cheers ❤️🙏👍🤕🕯️

Nothing better than a wooden screen door . Reminds me of going to my grandparents house when I was a child. ❤
Kathy, you took the words right out of my head. Hearing a wooden screen door slam will always take me back to the days at Granny’s. God rest her soul🌹
I cant believe… How long I’ve been following you all. Time has flown by . I love all the charm & warmth it added
Finding a stain you like in the store and then on the wood, is a frustrating process. Pleased the remover worked and you both are happy with the result, well done!
