Aha, I see what you mean at 16:30. From the aerial photo and the 'walkaround' at 22:10 I got the wrong impression. There, at 22:10, the walls look a bit low, but not unusual for old barns. But the walls are tall. Well done 'freeing those barns'.
We do not call them 'wacker plates' in NZ - never heard of that - they are compactors. ! Good that you can fix it - with Claude's help, encore une fois! Bravo, Claude 🙂 Oh that mound (of dirt) has become a mountain ... This is a huge undertaking. 'Moving mountains'. ... There is more than enough dirt to form a pond ... You must be careful. Soil is unstable, you can get slips at any time but esp. after rain. Please take care ♥♥♥
There's a colloquialism (slang) for strimmers too = weed wackers - I wonder if thats related or from the same source lol. My son picked that up from some US tv prog, either The Simpsons or Family Guy. He's the same age as Philippe 🙂

Bonjour from Australia I just finished watching your movie length Vlog & thoroughly loved it!! Did you grow up on the land or are you just resourceful as the interest has evolved to help people teach themselves many skills! You have a beautiful family & your son will learn so much just watching his tenacious & fit parents! 🥂😍
Dear couple and baby, happy to see you! In a video, a while ago, you mentioned the hypothesis that the former resident created this hill behind the barn. However, I do not know whether he asked the old residents of the village to obtain confirmation of his hypothesis. I see your hard work in removing all this land, and I wonder: from where, how and what is the objective of the former resident to get this land and create this hill there, even though he has spent hours of work, fuel... including It makes your projects take longer, and the rain contributes to this too. I see the color of the earth, its compaction on this hill and I wonder if this hill wouldn't be natural to the place and, with just the barn being built in an inappropriate place, etc. Health and prosperity to the beautiful family.
Hello, there has probably always been a hill close to the old barn but it has become higher probably with the addition of the new barn they had to get rid of there soil somewhere.. remember these are 200+ years old so a lot has happened in those years and not many around to tell us how it was. We can only make estimated guesses that it wasn’t like this in the beginning by an old barn door at the back that is useless now with the hill against it. An old farm road that is a metre deeper then it used to be etc.
Great work as always. I was a bit surprised you didnt restart the excavation work earlier in the summer, while it was still hot and dry, as the mud issue when it rains causes so many problems.
We would have started sooner but we had no means of moving the soil yet. And when we got the dumper it had some issues so we couldn’t use it immediately. Such is life 😅
I think your chickens have identity issues they think they are dogs🤣🤣Love the way you clean and look after your machines. You do scare me but you are getting on so well moving that mountain to make you dam. Bon courage👏👏🤞🤞👌👌🙏🏻
I lead a ‘city life’ on the west coast of the United States far different from your life. Yet, I find your mechanical explanations so interesting. Your channel is a bit different from the 6 other European home renovators I watch because of your explanations and focus on restoring and reshaping the land.😊
Great work…may be worth plugging the dump truck into a trickle charger/ maintainer every night, could save you having problems. Gonna be a great dam/ lake when it’s done,t
Mud, mud, glorious mud! Because of so much rain I'm alarmed watching you drive that dumper at the pinnacle of fresh earth, so dangerous. Hilarious watching chickens following the machines - glad none flattened!!! :)
In case you don't have enough advice on doing things😏...I'll add mine. The soil that you are dumping can be or is weak below the surface, then new rain soaks into the top part adding a lot weight in addition to the loaded dumper on top, hate to see you having to dig yourself out if the soil gives out. I'm sure you are aware of that, but I feel better now, don't want any disruption of good progress videos😄.
I love how the chickens follow the excavator around, knowing it will dig up yummy insects! So smart!
😂 those chickens have had some close calls.. always manage to get out of harms way..😊

Hi Phillipe, the earthworks you are doing is - in my professional opinion - major. In most countries and local councils, it would need the certification of a civil engineer. The issues involved are:
1. Slope stabilization. To prevent the slopes from failure. This could mean installing retaining walls. There are many types. If no retaining walls are used, then the slope incline must be no more than 45 degrees.
2. Surface Water Drainage. This is very significant and cannot be stressed enough. Whenever humans alter the natural drainage lines of existing land, the water will move in ways that may affect the existing buildings.
3. To deal with drainage, proper drains need to be built with inspection pits and invert levels. These must be calculated.
4. Underground water tables. As there is a well on the site, I'm absolutely sure there are one or more underground water tables. These cannot be disturbed. Doing so will affect the geology of the area.

Hey Barbara, my neighbour called it a wacker plate so I took it over 😅 oh yeah we will have plenty of soil for the pond!
There call wacker plates in Australia
We call them thumpers here in Pennsylvania.
There's a colloquialism (slang) for strimmers too = weed wackers - I wonder if thats related or from the same source lol. My son picked that up from some US tv prog, either The Simpsons or Family Guy. He's the same age as Philippe 🙂
Bon courage Philippe ! 💪
Merci!!
Another nice video, beautiful countryside and lots of digging digging digging 😅.
But of course mama and darling little baby 😊
Thx, we can’t have a video without little Odin 😍
It must have felt good to have it confirmed, that all your hard work moving the mountain with Bob and Fred, was not in vain!!😃Oh my, the chimney at 9:33, is it as crooked as it looks?!
Also I am sure I can speak for everyone in saying that it is really good of you to answer so many comments, It must take you ages!!😃
Hello Suzie, it does take time and i am having trouble keeping up but we do read them all and we try to answer them all.
@@DomaineSauvage I can see that! thank you. oh and I added the question about the chimney after you had read this.😊It's funny seeing you furkle with the carburettor, my husband has just been successful with the same problem on his 1973 Norton Commando except he had to fit a new one! 😃
The chimney is crooked and leaking 🤣

Thank you for showing us your work! I am so inspires and I went out again today, clean up as much as trees cutting and ground… thank you.
It is you who did it, not me! It is satisfying when you are done with the work though 🙏
Prachtig al dat passende gereedschap Het lijkt wel een grondverzet bedrijf .Altijd gemotiveerd bezig en bergen werk verzetten,

I love that shot were Phillipes posse of chickens are following him behind the digger so funny ....never alone with chickens
Too funny
Crazy chickens, they do add a lot of dynamic to our videos!

You’re welcome!
Great vid again. Nice to see you guys at work together... good team.
Thx Martin! We would love to work together more but the editing part still takes up a lot of time.
@@DomaineSauvage Understandable and Odin needs some tlc aswell of course. But he will grow up as a healthy farm-boy soon and can help out also...eventually... ;)
I Love Odin ...me too following her progresse from Brasil.

Am so impressed with you guys. Wish I could pop around and give you a hand for the love of it.
Yes I was thinking the exact same thing. I watch this at night before going to bed and it’s so relaxing. I grew up on a ranch and cowboys in South Texas. The work is never done. I absolutely love how you pivot with the weather to other things. Beautiful life y’all have created. ❤
Maybe woensdag camping is open
Thank you Gordon!
Not much choice to work with the weather but it does suck since normally it should be better until November and not this again 😅
In a year maybe but now it is mudfest!
Very special man. I really appreciate such hard working job. Have nice day.
Thx!
Sending love❤
Thx!
@@DomaineSauvagethanks, good morning!
So much work, but it is really paying off. At least the chickens keep you good company for parts of the slog!
I don’t feel lonely with the chickens around 😅
Great work as always. I was a bit surprised you didnt restart the excavation work earlier in the summer, while it was still hot and dry, as the mud issue when it rains causes so many problems.
We would have started sooner but we had no means of moving the soil yet. And when we got the dumper it had some issues so we couldn’t use it immediately. Such is life 😅
Good luck to both of you.
Thank you Jean!
I have only just discovered your delightful channel. Eats UK tv
Steady as she go's.
Thx!
Great video folks, some good progress, well done and thanks for posting.
Our pleasure!
Hello again 🤗 from Philippines
I think your chickens have identity issues they think they are dogs🤣🤣Love the way you clean and look after your machines. You do scare me but you are getting on so well moving that mountain to make you dam. Bon courage👏👏🤞🤞👌👌🙏🏻
I lead a ‘city life’ on the west coast of the United States far different from your life. Yet, I find your mechanical explanations so interesting. Your channel is a bit different from the 6 other European home renovators I watch because of your explanations and focus on restoring and reshaping the land.😊
Thx! Nothing wrong with city life!
Great work…may be worth plugging the dump truck into a trickle charger/ maintainer every night, could save you having problems. Gonna be a great dam/ lake when it’s done,t
I need to buy a second charger then but not a bad idea!
Mud, mud, glorious mud!
Because of so much rain I'm alarmed watching you drive that dumper at the pinnacle of fresh earth, so dangerous.
Hilarious watching chickens following the machines - glad none flattened!!! :)
It is still okay to do it, I am making it wider so it is more safe to drive on top.
I don’t mind Rick, and that is what I notice. A few times I have been almost stuck by the soil giving way at the sides creating a deep rut.
May be time to start adding gravel in that one spot…
