Just bought the same model last month as a second vehicle. Takes a little getting used to but drives fine once you're in it after a few times. I noticed the same thing with the foot rest but Im not rough with my cars. I almost made the same mistake with that added console but the dealer told me they wouldn't fit but maybe they'll make a version that does eventually. Everything you said is spot on. A full tank lasts me 3 weeks. New subscriber! Thanks for the content.

I'm only at 650 miles on mine, but I'm loving it so far. I did extensive research, and even if the Civic and Corolla were cheaper, I still would've picked the Mirage. I love everything about it, other than a couple minor nitpicks. I love that it feels like a car from 20 years ago, because I don't like what they've been doing with cars lately.
I also still listen to CDs, but it wasn't a big deal for me to put all my CDs onto a thumb drive and plug it into the Mirage. I'm kind of liking it more. I got the base model, so no armrest, and I bought an aftermarket center console that works well. I removed the seat-backs in the back to set it up as a camper when it's just me traveling. I got Weathertech window shades for that purpose as well. The versatility that this little car provides is incredible!

I've been researching this car and I'm confused by the vastly different reviews I see of it on youtube. There are those who complain about how gutless it is and how the CVT heats up, both issues exacerbated over hilly terrain, making it feel unsafe driving on the highway, then there are reviews like yours who say the exact opposite! I guess I need to rent a Mirage for a couple of days and drive it for myself to know for sure! Thanks for the informative review.

Hello I’ve been looking for positive reviews of this lil fun car because my sister bought one new a couple years ago and now my niece is driving it(shes only 21) and constantly complaining, and today i showed her in the mountains what this thing is capable of, i tell you a group of bikers were ahead of me and i was able to keep higher speeds in the tight corners than some of them. It’s so much fun if you know how to keep the momentum. Obviously it doesn’t have the straight line performance of a v6 mustang or whatever, but you gotta adapt to the situation. If you’re a good driver or car enthusiast you can learn to enjoy all the pros and cons of every car.
Oh and it’s easy to park and fuel consumptionvery good.

Things to note, the car does have GPS, as long as your phone has Android Auto, or Apple Carplay. You need to do a little bit of set up, but to use it all you need to do is plug your phone into the USB A port, which is down by the cup holders.
Also, if you get a 2017 Mirage SE radio, it still has the backup camera, plus Android and Apple Carplay, but it also has a CD player. It's a slower screen but it does have that if you want a CD player. Not sure if it's plug and play though.
Also, for MPG, my average over the past 17,000 miles is 51.4 MPG. I hypermile it. So around town I speed up about 1,500 RPM, and use cruise control in town when up to speed. And on the interstate, I set the cruise control to 55 MPH, unless there is a minimum speed posted that is higher, which I've not seen. I just stay to the right. I got the yellow Mirage, so it's very easy to see.
The fastest I've gotten my car was 75 MPH down a hill, I was actively trying to slow down using engine braking, it wasn't quite enough. I was going 75 in a 55, but everyone was passing me, including cops. So I guess it wasn't that bad. Sport mode was keeping it around 4,500 RPM down the hill without throttle.
Besides that, I just cruise at 55.
