Totally agree with those posting. I heard and read about how "horrible" these were. I rented one and yes, a healthy twelve year old with a good ten speed bike will beat it in a drag race, but this is not what these are about. Cold A/C, mandatory in Florida, drove, rode respectably, and I thought the fuel gauge was broken. Anyone doesn't like theirs, I will take it off your hands😊
6:14 great scope at under the body, never never knew they actually cover the under compartments from debris/speed bumps/dirt/snow from clogging up your transmission or engine.
Affordable new cars feel like a thing of the past now. The Mirage along side the Nissan Versa being the last bastion of a type of car that will fulfill well over 90% of what people need from a car. For reference, I am talking about the hatch back model. I'd recommend the hatchback over the sedan. The storage capabilities are significantly increased by both folding the rear seats down, and the taller trunk even with the rear seats up. Sacrificing a small amount of passenger space for such versatility feels like a no brainer for my circumstances. For a single person; couple or even a young/small family of 4-5, this car is about as practical as it gets for everyday commutes and shopping. For the Driver, as long as your not over something absurd like 6'2 then the seat can be adjusted to be reasonably comfortable for you. In my experience though, between 4 average sized adults and 1 infant, the car had just enough space for everyone when I had the Mirage. So it's safe to say the interior space is actually pretty decent. As long as your travels don't call for a bunch of gear and equipment. I could totally see this thing doing well on weekend family road trips. Longer vacations might be a bit of a struggle, but knowing a roof rack is available I'm sure even longer trips with extra roof storage would make even longer trips manageable. If your only going with 2 people, I'm sure this thing can manage more adventurous road trips that do call for lots of equipment if you put the seats down. Can you move large items? Probably not. Ive read on a reddit thread that someone apparently was capable of fitting their stove, a washer, dryer and portable dish washer in their Mirage (obviously 1 at a time) with the seats down. Though I assume the dryer/washer were more compact units, it is still impressive that the Mirage can move such appliances. I've also seen photos of people moving pieces of their sectional couch on the roof. A sectional couch seems like a good compromise if you can't afford to rent a truck or don't know anyone who owns a truck to move couches. The Mirage is exactly what it needs to be. A cheap car that accomplishes 100% of what a sedan will for daily commutes such as grocery shopping, going to work, and picking up the kids from school and other daily needs. While only sacrificing the ability to go on outdoor, and adventurous road trips with the family that require more trunk space/carrying capacity then the mirage does. For such a small sacrifice, I would be more than happy to own one of these for myself. I don't need much more than the Mirage. If you do, I'd just settle on a decent used sedan if the Mirage isn't quite enough for you.
I've got a 2019 with 197,000 miles on it, no issues whatsoever, literally none. The CVT will go the distance if you do the maintenance, which in this case is every 30,000 mile do a fluid change with new filters (there's a screen and a standard filter). Gas mileage is amazing, averaging well over 40 all the time. I've travelled all over the country as well, it's not a bad travel car at all. Congrats on choosing well, look forward to updates on it as you pile on the miles!
That’s awesome to hear to hear 197,000 miles and going strong . I’m at 8,889miles 2.5 months of ownership right love the thing. Definitely will be doing all maintenance for sure.
Good to hear. I want one, but with a manual gearbox. I hate automatic transmission's. I think automatic transmission's are like Nukes THEY SHOULD'VE NEVER BEEN INVENTED!
Take out that spare tire and you will get better millage. Just carry a repair kit. Dump those mats and get some WeatherTechs. Protect that rug. I went from Phila. to Wildwood NJ. 44 mpg. I told the wife if she lost a few pounds I might hit 46.

Doug DeMuro released a video today called 5 Worst New Cars You Can Buy and he lists the 2024 Mirage. Would love to see you make a reaction video where you call out Doug
Doug is on point. I had a 2018 first owner and it was literally the worse car I have ever owned. I never felt so unsafe. If I test drove it any season other winter so I could really feel the car out, I would have bought anything but this. Wheels bearings going out at 30k miles, rear defogger going out at 60k miles, cvt was over heating after 40k mile fluid flushes, wind knocks the car around, little sound deadening, speakers are not great at all (the 20 year old work trucks at work have better speakers), engine sounds like an angry blender. I averaged 32-34 city and 38 highway. You're only getting more than that by driving like a semi with a full load. Highway merging is always scary since the car takes ages to get from 45 to 75. I can keep pace with a Mirage that is flooring it while I'm 35% throttle and my car makes 222whp stock. Hasn't the average for new cars over the last 10 years been been around 200? The Mirage makes 1/3... Crash safety videos from department of transportation has the Mirage rated at the lowest possible passing grade and I was pissed that they let them sell as is after watching that video. I went off the road a little in a snow storm. Went in and out of a ditch, bent a wheel, broke a headlight, had some bumper damage, and needed an alignment. My insurance adjuster asked me if I just wanted to total it because he has totaled Mirages with less damage and simular miles. MSRP was $15.4k at the time and dealer wouldn't move on price. I don't know how anyone was getting them cheaper, claiming $10k with 0 miles. That's 1/3 off. I owned it for almost 4 years and the wife said our baby will not be brought into this world while I owned that car. It got traded a month before he was born. Even if I had zero issues with my Mirage, I would never buy another one or take one for free. Sorry but a good, taken care of used car is better than a new/newer car that barely meets standards...
I have the sedan version, it's my daily vehicle I think this car is great. It's cheap, fills up with $25, it's a new car without the overwhelming new technology we see in a lot of new cars
I like the red front of yours. It looks nice! I regularly get 60 MPG on the freeway cruising at 55 MPH. Over the life of the car (11,400 miles) I've average 50.1 MPG. (City driving knocks the MPG down from the 60's I get on the freeway). I highly recommend these cars, as long as you don't want a track car.
Well, I been in the south, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona. Even in the 80 speed Limit, people usually only went 70. Keep in mid, in your state, 70 MPH is the Limit, not the minimum. Usually there are signs posted saying the minimum. Usually the minimum is 45 MPH. A few 55 MPH minimums I've seen in New Mexico, and in Texas. But not much. Only thing is, that is for the right lane (slow lane). Nice job on the video. I'm about an hour away from Hagerstown and did not know you could upgrade to a 10yr/100,000 mile bumper to bumper. That sounds worth it to me. If you don't mind sharing how much was it for the extra warranty protection, and is the 20 yr/200,000 mile additional as well or does Younger provide that on all their vehicles?
I'm almost 60 and I have a 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe which is big and nice and quiet and I've had three not at fault fender benders in it and have had to lease a mirage in the past and found that it is very small on these crazy streets these days going 50 to 60 to keep up and keep from getting run over and the cost of everything is so high I hope to never have to get a new vehicle

CVT is the same as in the nissan versa. Difference is the 78hp of the mirage doesnt strain the CVT and is why, with proper fluid change, you dont hear about the Mirage having the CVT issues the versa has
It's getting harder and harder to find cars that you can actually maintain and repair. Though I just bought two of them, a 4Runner and an Outlander Sport. Mirage is another one. Feel like I'm future proofed with the two I bought. It's like getting 2008 designed cars from 2024 production runs. Hopefully if those cars last 15 years each, by that time car companies will either have figured out how to make the new cars work, or mechanics will have figured out how to repair them, or perhaps there will be some totally new system where it doesn't matter. Either way I bought 15 years of peace of mind.
Attractive vehicle and smart choice! I'm curious, why didn't you pay a bit more for a new Corolla LE? I'm debating if I should also pay 19k for a new Mirage or pay 25k for a new Corolla LE. The Corolla has 169 hp so more than double the hp of the Mirage but it's also a 1000 pounds heavier. What do you think?
Sorry RUclips just showed me your comment today after 11days been some issues lately. Well I was genuinely interested in was the GR Corolla I’m more performance side of things. But I was considering possibly going with something with miles per gallon personally never cared but like to travel saving money in gas is nice. So I did look into the Corolla LE gets less mpg extra but still really good I found most averaging around 34 to 35 mpg. The 1000lb hurts that and kills off some power does have more options and more stuff to go wrong. Both cars are slow none going impressive you in those areas but the mirage did for me was gave me 90s car with some of today modern touches. The Corolla when I drove it I like it but had lot more modern car stuff that I’m not ready for yet in such basic daily commuter. That being said in 3 years I’ll be looking at the Toyota Corolla again both GR and LE and decide if I like one are both are something else. Mitsubishi mirage has an amazing reputation for reliability and Toyota Corolla the same. So your going be on your own on this decision both are good cars but I’ll let you with this 2 1/2 months 10,000 miles on my Mirage now from zero. That many miles so soon tells you I love my choice
Been thinking of grabbing one since it's the last year. Love that graphite gray. Have one reservation, I live in Florida and I have to take I-95 regularly. It's an absolute racetrack most of the time. I was curious how taking an on ramp is with your Mirage. Where I live you need to hit the end of an on ramp at 70 mph to merge in with traffic and most people are cruising at 80-90 mph. Do you think a Mirage can cope with speeds like that?
I can definitely get up to speed no issues. I drive mine at 80mph on the highway latest video at the end shows me doing it. Plus still getting 41mpg at those speeds. Also for peace of mind test drive one make sure to tell the dealer your concern and take it on the test drive on and off some ramps. I drive in Pittsburgh and Washington DC Baltimore regular basis also on I 95 does really good I’m super impressed with the mirage. I got videos now of adding Oem options now lol
@@PATuners I'll definitely test drive one. I'm looking at the G4 sedan so it's slightly heavier. This is flat-as-a-pancake Florida so it'll never have to deal with hills or mountains unless I take a trip out of state. I bet it's fine if you can do those speeds.

Only problem . It has 78 horsepower. It won’t pass other cars on the highway. The Mitsubishi Mirage is the worst car on the market. I see people selling it after 1 or 2 years. Don’t hold its value like Toyota, Honda or Nissan.
Not selling it and the 78 hp is getting 48mpg and goes up 4000ft mountains no issues and does 80mph no issue on the highway and gets 43mpg on the highway. I drive 90s cars this is luxury compared to the 90s so I’m good over here with a mirage. I been buying old Mitsubishi since 1998 have lot friends who bought the mirage all made it over 250,000 miles before selling them
I bought one brand new in 2017 Mirage ES manual for $10,153.73 OTD. It's a great economy car. The dealership I bought mine from has one they bought back from a customer, & it has 414,000 miles on it & still going strong. A friend works on a fleet of them, & they have been amazing. Many have extremely high mileage on them. After 6+ years of ownership, I have had zero issues. I haven't even replaced a light bulb yet. I have done things like tires, wipers, and maintenance items. A very simple car to work on yourself. Don't hold their value? Mine was $9,299 brand new at the time. If I qualified for the 3 rebates it could have been as low as $7,799 brand new. I plan on driving mine for 15-20 years (daily driver). Saves wear & tear on my Subaru Forester, which I use for towing & extreme snow conditions. I owned 3 vehicles with less horsepower than a Mirage. If you can make 78 horsepower get you down the road, you need to learn how to drive. I have no problem passing anyone. Would I win a race, probably not, but I also get 40-50 mpg year round. If I could have bought a brand new Honda Fit for under $10,000 brand new I might have one. Oh yeah, cars like the Fit, Yaris, Spark, & whatever are all gone now! Find some other car to trash, because you're exposing your lack of wisdom maybe? I really like my Mirage. I will go 15+ years without having a single car payment thanks to it.
I know a Mirage that has 414,000 miles on it, & it's still going. If you can't pass someone with 78 hp, I would learn how to drive better. I plan on driving my 2017 Mirage ES manual for 15-20 years. After 6+ years, I haven't even changed a light bulb yet. 40-50 mpg year round. Affordable, reliable, & very economical = great daily driver.
Love these lil cars. 90s simplicity in a modern package.
I totally agree

Hopefully if those cars last 15 years each, by that time car companies will either have figured out how to make the new cars work, or mechanics will have figured out how to repair them, or perhaps there will be some totally new system where it doesn't matter. Either way I bought 15 years of peace of mind.
Definitely go wrong with what you bought and I totally agree
That many miles so soon tells you I love my choice
good warranty too
Right hard pass it up. 3000 miles on it now loving it honestly
they got to update those door handles
@@Portiomos why’s that?
Just rented one it gets up to 90 no problem went from Miami to Orlando
Minus the infotainment system this car looks like it is from 2002 to 2012.
Only negative I see on these cars is the Jatco CVT. I'd much prefer the manual.
@@pedrofernandez8729 I much rather have a manual as well but my wife like automatic more she drives it more. I talked to many people about the cvt with normal fluid change they been good few guys I race with have I’ve 300,000 miles on there cvt mirage. It’s same transmission Nissan has trouble with but the mirage 78hp and 2000lb weigh is lot less on it plus a lot people don’t change the fluid every 28,000 miles they have issues either lack of knowledge are ignorance
@@PATuners I have driven 3 CVT equipped cars as rentals, 2 Nissans and one Kia and honestly, I could not have one as a daily driver. I consider them unsafe. I am no lead foot by any means, but in the rare occassion that i need a burst of speed, the CVT just cannot do it.
@ strange never found that as a problem
We should all have a car like this. Everyone's gotta have a big truck and drive it like a maniac while complaining about gas prices and having a huge car payment. Humans.
Really good car for doing uber eats
@@jamesb8619 i drive it all over the east been great ride. 27,000 miles in 9 months can’t complain
NICE CAR.
Thank you. It’s fun Affordable car truly is
It'll toot around
The thing is really fun to drive believe it or not I love it lol
i have mine for my daily commute cause i drive about 35 miles away to work. I did not want to keep driving around my Tacoma. I love this thing, it gets the job done and on top of that gas is sooooooooooo cheap. I will keep this until the wheels off @@PATuners
@@KingG-rb9xv I bought mine to take long drives trips and daily it. Save my Tahoe and other vehicles. I’m going probably do the same drive it to the wheels fall off
😅 nicee
Thanks!
Chosen over an Evo 10... thats saying something! 😅 There is more HP in the 12volt cig lighter receptacle of a Evo then then the whole Mirage... haha
@@Have.An.AmicoDay 😂 😂 78Hp its power house 😂 this mirage literally paying for its self in gas savings. I’ll have evo 10 before to long. I literally stop driving my Tahoe 10 times a month because mirage good on gas have $500 month extra now.
I'm not really laughing... i've got a 23' Mirage Ralliart and its a pretty good little car! @@PATuners
@@Have.An.AmicoDay they do very well I really enjoy the car and I’m 6’3 fit well
78 hp is absurd
Power to weight. So basically works
Out the same as any small suv in today’s world power wise
Nah perfect for A TO B car...
Please keep saying these things. It helps keep the Mirage affordable and in stock for the people who want a Mirage.
