So OwONekko shows her true colors… ignoring criticism and making caricatures of people you don’t like? Yikes. Jo's thumbnail wasn't even clickbait. Neko was promoting AI, saying how she uses it for her "humour" and saying how great of a tool it is and she likes to use it. I know Neko kept saying "I was being neutral" but she wasn't, that is not what being neutral is. She was praising it, that is saying AI is good to use. Jo did absolutely nothing wrong. She was respectful and calm with her points and even praised Neko throughout it and Neko calls her a racist.
That’s also very true- I try to look at both perspectives but regardless the outcome is that neko used ai, couldn’t come up with an actual reason as to why she didn’t think it was bad, couldn’t handle criticism once she got blacklashed, and oh! Misgendering and not apologizing for it. On top of drawing crude caricatures of people she didn’t like saying terrible remarks. I only say that jo’s thumbnail could come off as clickbait like but that’s all thrown out when she claimed that jo is racist.
I agree but she did lose her cool at the end of the video which she said she would do
not only that, nondi went on to say 'we don't have to base everything we do off of morals' when she "defended" herself from the backlash, you can see the screenshots on her own twitter. it literally isn't clickbait when you claim morals didnt matter because you're having fun/choose to profit off of something you barely worked on - that's not "neutral"
and keep in mind, Jouuusta is 17… OwONekko is pushing thirty.

What baffles me is that she had the audacity that OwOneko made Jo look awful in her thumbnail in her drawing while Jo didn't even draw her in a unflattering light like...

you should see what she did to Jo in her newest video 😭 Nondi LITERALLY is making Jo say slurs/racist stuff and protrays her audience as pedos as well in one section (id card that literally calls someone a predator)
What's wild to me is how Jouusta drew Owonekko really well in their thumbnail, but Owonekko decided to draw them in an ugly caricature. Like where's the courtesy?

The ai take is whatever we can disagree. But she’s just attacked Jo making it seemed like she was rascist is being completely immature intentionally misgendered someone and insulted her fans. She just wants yes men and couldn’t handle anyone disagreeing with her. I was so disappointed seeing this because I enjoyed her content so much. But god she over reacted

As someone who was a avid viewer of OwONekko, I have watch quite a few videos on this topic and I guess I feel comfortable enough here to share my thoughts, or rather feelings on the matter
This whole thing just left me feeling sad, man, I loved her art, resigns and most importantly, humor, but the way she reacted to Jo's polite criticism and everything that has happened after, like with the whole misgendering and refusing to apologize for it (because she left him anonymous??? Like what?) that was completely inappropriate and left a bad taste in my mouth and I simply no longer feel comfortable following her and giving her my support
End this on a nicer note, I really liked how calmly you approached the situation, also you're voice is very calming and easy on the ears, it made the whole thing very easy to listen to, especially as I'm drawing (or having just woken up and climbing out of bed, as the case may be), I also really like your art and was very impressed with the animation in the video, all that is to say, I like your vibe and I think I'll stick around for a while... as long as you don't plan on having any AI art hottakes anytime soon, lol

The way OwONekko treated Jo was so uncalled for, rude and petty. Nothing warranted trying to paint Jo as a racist. So disgusting, especially cause those kinds of allegations can ruin careers.

I liked owonekko before but calling someone racist that isn’t is actually dangerous nowadays like you could lose your job or have difficulties getting one if theres like accusations about that.. idk the other person in this drama that well so if his full time job is youtube that’s reaaally bad like you’re (owonekko) just sabotaging their job at this point

Slightly clickbait, since owoneko does actually indorse AI in her video. She says she’s neutral, but then profits off of it and endorses it so…How neutral can that be? And also even if it was, slight clickbait or exaggeration is something most RUclipsrs do. Not saying it’s right either, obviously clickbait is annoying but drawing an offensive character of the person and calling them racist is an EXTREME REACTION.

This whole situation was so insane cuz I used to like OWONekko for a few months...then suddenly that whole AI thing happened and things hit the shitter so fast it still gives me whiplash to this day.
All Nekko had to do was stop fighting and shut up tbh. Then no one would have cared as much.
i remember finding owonekko on yt shorts maybe a month or so ago and then next thing i know theres all this drama for an artist i was about to get really into--
also, video aside, the animation you made in the background is really cool :D

I just realized that she has 329k subs left after this, like Jesus the first time it happened was when she was live, talking about the AI drama and lost 5k subs which is surprising. Tbh I would've still watched her videos after the whole AI thing because I agreed with her stance. Still, I do agree with Joe that monetizing it even tho the AI made it after your prompt is a bit weird to me, bc then it's no longer about fun or joking around, you're now doing it for money, which she has said to think that it wouldn't get that big, which I think wouldn't want me to monetize the video. And I have another thing to point out that Jo said in their video, that Nondi also brought up (Nekko). Which was Oney's plays. Nondi would think she should be allowed to make the video she did bc they did, but Jo brought up a good point by saying that Oneyplays added commentary to the AI "Music" But those ast my thoughts on it,

i found out that it's a copy paste of her comments she left on r/defendingaiart where a bunch of ai """"artists"""" back her up and hate on jouusta. so it seems she found her little reddit echo chamber to enable her breakdown.
@@sardonikai Yeahhh it’s really sad since this also proves that she was never neutral on ai and actually likes using it and now she doesn’t just have her partner enabling it but a Reddit of weirdos who like ai art. It so ridiculous. I think I’ve seen the Reddit post myself but it was hard to skim through because of the constant bootlicking and hate on Jo. Absolutely disgusting.

The issue wit Neko is they shot themselves in the foot by turning off the comments in their response video. They’re such a hypocrite for being mad at the initial comment from the big RUclipsr on their A.I. playlist for making that comment because his fans would blindly follow his words without doing research. Yet Neko turned the comments off on their response video, thus forbidding any conversation from happening at all and encouraging their fans to blindly follow them. Doesn’t help that they’ve been pulling a NerdCity and throwing mindless temper tantrums at everyone who doesn’t 100% agree with everything they say. Now they’re claiming the Jouusta disagrees with them because she’s racist towards black people. So yeah, Neko may have had a point about A.I. , but they’ve now destroyed any potential for civil discussion on A.I. Sorry but, don’t announce a known controversial opinion if you’re gonna respond this immaturely towards backlash and critiques. It’s a real, “you made your bed now lie it in” situation.
Also the folks who defend Neko by saying “You can’t make any ethical arguments against A.I. because you use Amazon” are making a pretty weak argument. Amazon is a billion dollar corporation that’s been in power for decades. They’ve successfully integrated themselves so deep into the several markets with over 100 different subsidiaries and secondary business. So completely avoiding it and giving it money is next to impossible. A.I. doesn’t have that same level of influence and societal integration. It’s objectively easier to avoid A.I. than it is to avoid Amazon (and any companies associated with it). Also, two things can be true at the same time. You can agree that Amazon is just as unethical as A.I. while still using Amazon.
I hate that argument in general because folks can use it for defending literally any immoral and unethical act. “Oh, you think pedophilia is unethical because it harms children? Well you’re drinking coffee and eating chocolate made from coco beans that were harvested using child labor.” There may be no ethical consumption under capitalism, but using it only as a gotcha to avoid actual critiques on A.I. doesn’t change that fact that still has numerous negative consequences.

Nekko misgendered the person who originally made the “peace and love, AI harms the art community” comment, Nekko made a community post saying that people shouldn’t use gender and stuff like that as a shield and should talk about the actual AI points she made. But then she draws someone criticizing her being racist, like??

i also heard that she was criticized by an art creator who uses he/they pronouns, but owoneko used she/her for the creator. after being informed that the creator used he/they pronouns, owoneko continued to use she/her, so theres just some weird transphobia on top of everything else

This is getting annoying. We really need to start being considerate of what we say and do and who we hurt. I’m a black artist myself and hearing this from Neko is disheartening and disrespectful. Mind you, I don’t think AI is good, but it’s something you can use for reference rather than as your own possession. The way she handled the situation was very childish and I really do hope she understands the consequences she put herself through.

imo i saw the thumbnail as more of a simplification of the whole thing, meant to help you understand the gist of the situation in just a sentence before clicking. like if jo drew nekko saying "ai is NEUTRAL.." then that wouldn't really make sense seeing how..she really isn't? that wouldn't draw you in at all. even if she didn't directly say ai is good, that's about as simple as you can make the situation in a single thumbnail. because she IS promoting ai.

Tbh this situation was eerily similar to the ergo josh situation. It’s just sad seeing fellow poc content creators fall this hard- so I feel the black lash was always going to be this big and the repercussions heavy

I wasnt really a huge fan of her, I only admired her and her artwork, plus sometimes I'd watch a few of her videos. I'd never thought she'd do anything like this, her response to all of this was very disappointing and immature. I hope she's takes a break from the internet and comes back with a long and PROPER apology. unfortunate. [OFF TOPIC BUT I LOVE UR ART, ITS SO COOL!]

The majority of people turned on owo when she was misgendering joe and deleting comments when people corrected her and continued to misgender joe the whole live

@@mofubunsart you don’t need art school, just to network as if you went to art school. I recently graduated from SCAD (Atlanta) and right now the animation industry going through some growing pains so just keep improving and doing great work. I think after the ai bubble pops there will be a huge demand for us so be patient and there’s no small artists just small projects lol. I mean unless you’re physically small which there’s nothing wrong with small people lol.
Omg thank you for the advice! I do like animating but I do it in my free time- I want to get serious about it but I held off. I agree ai is in its honey moon phrase so everything “sounds cool” but it’ll come crashing down also I am indeed ant sized but I take no offense to that 🫡🤣
edit:i just learned that nondi uses they/them pronouns now. im going to try and correct every instance of she/her but i do also find it kind of sus given the transphobia theyve shown and how they have previously projected her own faults in this scenario onto others. as a trans man ive seen trans people change pronouns (going from she/they for example to just she/her or just they/them, at least one case of this from my memory included the person going back to the pronouns they used beforehand once things died down.) when they do some shit and get called out for it. none the less, i apologize if i miss any in my edit. its not my place to make claims about why someone changed pronouns immediately after they did so, its also not my place to place such judgment unless its a extreme situation-like the person makes it blatant by reverting back to the pronouns once everything calms down. idk if i can find other comments i made on other comment sections to correct it but either way i put the effort in here
the live stream was so much worse than the comment left on nondis video. the comment was deleted almost immediately and would most likely of been forgotten if she didnt respond to it in a video. the live stream? it was announced in a community post and was a *livestream* posted to the owoneko channel.
the comment wasnt on his channel, it was not in a place were his followers could easily find it through him. it was on the video nondi posted. and not only was it on a video that his fans were unlikely to look for him on but he deleted it quickly. he at no point tried to send people to attack nondi.
nondi however? the community post announcing the stream and the stream itself were so clearly made to target a smaller channel in the thumbnail. not only that, but they were essentially bullying people with smaller platforms throughout the entire stream by drawing comments the way they did. was it likely a manic episode of some kind? yeah. it was also them making it clear to me at least that this entire issue was them projecting onto others.
a larger creator leaves a comment disagreeing with them and deletes it almost immediately. they respond with a video were they misgender him and uses the creator being "anonymous" (people were able to tell right away who they were talking about) to misgender them. people corrected nondi and nondi deleted said corrections and doubled down on the misgendering. knowingly misgendering someone is transphobia.
people called them out on the transphobia and then they stopped purely because they realized that continuing would only make it clear to people calling nondi out on that that they are transphobic. their "apology" for the transphobia was awful and had no sorries or responibility taken. they claimed that they werent being allowed to criticize a trans person because they were trans-something blatantly false given that they were knowingly misgendering said person and got caught doing so. misgendering someone-especially a trans person-is bringing up their gender in a hateful way.
and then they pull the "youre racist" shit with jou. no one had brought up their race unlike how they brought up someones gender by *purposely misgendering* him over and over. yet they did it anyway by drawing jou saying "i hate blackkks." the longer this goes on the more they do shitty things then projects them onto their critics after being called out on it. if this is all a mental health break i hope they recovers and takes responsibility but i have a bad gut feeling about all this.
also their pronouns changing makes the transphobia they all the more ironic than when it was just them projecting.

OwONekko said that people were using the RUclipsr she purposely misgendered’s pronouns as a “shield” and that it was taking my away from the fact that she was being “harassed” by them. And then she goes and uses her race as a shield to avoid criticism.
I’m whiter than the walls of an American hospital so I know I don’t exactly get a say in situations like this, but it always seemed so iffy to me. She is a grown thirty year old and behaving like this, not to mention that her partner just keeps enabling this. Pink deserves criticism too, they should be just as responsible as Nekko in this situation

Neko said in a few posts that the "big youtuber" sent their community to harass Neko when all that youtuber did AT ALL was leave 1 comment on Neko's video saying very politely, something like "hey this hurts music artist like other AI hurts us visual artists, we should support them too" and never ONCE mentioned any of this on any of their socials or anything. Why does Neko think leaving a comment that only people specifically clicking on that specific video and finding that specific comment can see at all is in any way "sending people to harass them"?
It's delusional and they're only claiming that because they are mad more people aren't on board with their selfish opinions so they assume it's some kind of purposeful attack. They also only claimed this was intentional harassment after they were called out for misgendering the youtuber. Neko originally claimed they kept that person anon so it's not misgendering, which if they are actually anon how are they harassing you?? but then claimed they didn't know their gender so it was fine, people told them that was bs. Then blocked people correcting them and then consistently continued to misgender and claim they don't personally care about gender so they can just misgender people all they want to. Neko made it super apparent they didn't care who they hurt and would just try and play victim in every awful, mean, selfish, and childish way they could when they were called out in the slightest for a bad take. Literally throwing a screaming, foot stomping, basically literal sh*t throwing, toddler like temper tantrum of extreme proportions over the mildest criticism.
It's all very "my opinions are correct and everyone with a different opinion is actually just wrong and is just a hater/troll/racist trying to attack me for who I am personally, not my actual opinions" and like.... my friend, you are not 5 years old do fucking better.

As a minor, i would have just apologized for misgendering and and tried to understand the point of view of other people who say that AI is bad to for artist community. The fact that a woman that is almost 30 and is acting like this really baffles me. Not to mention her latest "court" video, she is obviously milking the drama at this point, but still made a google doc defending herself, and while im not smart, smooth brain and all so correct me if im wrong, but as i tried to read it all i could focus on was how she put criticism in a way that people were attacking her. There obviously will always be people who attack over the smallest things, but the majority i saw were valid criticism and concerns. She is acting very childishly, and this is coming from a person that is probably supposed to act a bit childishly. Lets hope she doesn't triple down

The delivery definitely fell short and that was the real issue. But she’ll never grasp that cause she’s stuck on just having a controversial opinion.
I found OwONekko's art and loved it, so I kept watching their channel and continued to love their art. Learning about this whole situation AND seeing the Jou they drew (please let me know Jou's actual alias because I don't know and for accuracy I want to), I was disappointed. The whole "misgendering" thing I could understand, though I still think they/them should have been used since OwONekko said they didn’t know the trans person's pronouns.
And then that "Crybaby Court" video.
I hate to say this, but that was VERY immature on her part. The pronoun jokes? As a genderfluid person, those weren't jokes, but jabs. And that Jou art (AGAIN I DON'T KNOW THEIR ONLINE ALIAS OTHER THAN THAT AND EVEN THEN I DON'T KNOW IF I'M RIGHT). OwONekko was treated with so much respect in that video, and then they went and did something so disrespectful, it's lower than disrespect. I feel bad for everyone affected by this drama.
