I believe the double restriction only applies to the Rocky Mtn double and triple trailers. You should be able to buy and place the regular double anywhere.
Just thought of this, but the axle placement isn't actually just cosmetic. They may not affect the load capacity of the trailer, but the placement of the tires can drastically affect the steering profile of the trailer. A more forward axle will allow the part of the trailer that's behind it to swing out, pivoting around the axle, but a rear placed axle will prevent that swinging, making the trailer feel like it's dragging behind a bit more.
Same reason behind the 6x4 midlift on a truck. Lifting that middle axle allows for much sharper turns, as the middle wheels don't have to drag, freeing the truck to pivot much easier.
ScientistMan96 i was thinking the same thing
You will turn even sharper if you lift the rear axle. Thats one reson for axle lift. The second is drap and tire wear. When you are bobtailing or driving with an empty trailer, lifitng the axles will reduce the spinning mass you have to move and therefore providing better fuel economy and tire wear.
If they made loading times accurate you might sit in a door for 8-12 hours lmao
Cappin Teddy No kidding!
Or be told that the load is actually in another town driving there and then being told that its back at your original location then waits 48 hours to load. lol
cappin it does not take 8 hour to load a truck i load truck it take 30 min or 40 min lol there if you wait 8 hour there are making the product and let you wait i think they should implimate time of delivery not all compagny take cargo at 1:00 am usaly they take it from 7 at 5pm
dave10ca I've run a forklift before and I could load a 53' reefer or dry van in 15 minutes double stacking pallets, what takes you 30-40?
Obviously there is not some guy on a forklift taking 8+ hours to load a trailer, that's absurd. And if you think thags what I meant then you're incredibly wrong!
It's been a while since the average drier sat in a door that long. Shippers that waste a driver's time tend to get dropped nowadays because there's not enough drivers to pick up and deliver everything. Carrier basically says "if you want it moved, have it ready at the time you want us there, otherwise our guy has other things to do".
The difference with the two BLACK (not 'blade') sideskirts at 11:38 is that the top one of the two has the hole for the fuel tank, the same as the two painted sideskirts. If you had a dry van or insulated van, then you wouldn't have a fridge motor, which means no fuel tanks, so you wouldn't need access to the fuel tank filler, but if you had a fridge van (reefer), then you would have the fuel tanks, as you did, so then you'd need the holes so you could access the fuel tanks.
To download the 1.32 Beta you have to join the beta program on Steam (right-click on ATS in the game list, click on "Properties", then "Betas" and select the 1.32 version and it will download it and ready to play. Just did an works !
Robert Les well mine didn’t work so how do i just bring it all back to normal so I can actually play and not crash
Capo Stream Go back in Steam (right-click on ATS in the game list, click on "Properties", then "Betas" and select NONE - Opt out of all beta programs. It should download the store version.
You can't see what's on offer for other trailers, because that's how things work in real life. Some companies have only one base some have 3 or 4 scattered around or a lot more. So if you deliver to a base, there is a possibility to change trailer there. But you need to learn the frigo stuff as well as need to have a licence for ADR, etc. So most of the time a truck driver is stuck to one trailer for a pretty long period of time. That's why it is more realistic to show only the goods for that particular trailer. People asked for realism. This is one step closer to it. Whether you like it or not.
To roll this idea forward. If I assign a curtain side trailer for a fully trained employee of mine, than he can only haul cheap, basic stuff now. Right? So he misses out on the juicy ADR and heavy cargo jobs. Since there are no trailers available for them, yet. So financially it's not a very good move to buy and assign any of the new trailers for my drivers. As they will get stuck with cheap jobs.
What's missing is the feature to exit my truck and walk around for fun!
That's the second most requested feature I want
dev mode and free roaming camera does the trick IMO. pretty useful sometimes to "act" as a second person walking around the truck, directing the driver how to reverse the with the trailer
Keep dreamin, as long as SCS is running this show, we will NEVER get first person view where you can actually walk out truck, connect trailer, connect trailer hoses, do pre trip inspection etc... We will never see this as long as SCS is developing this game, well, at least not in the next decade or two.
And no, dev mode does not "do the trick" Do you see your door open when you get out? Can you attach stuff on your trailer? Can you bump your tires to make sure they are aired up? Can you actually click and interact stuff outside your truck? NOPE. So no, it does not do the trick, and nothing will until we are able to have an actual first person player view developed.
Sure, but that kinda defeats the purpose with what Oscar S said. SCS needs to take notes from Astrogon's Bus SImulator 18 game with how you can walk up from your driver seat and everything.
hydron powers Yes, it would be awesome if you could get out of your truck and walk around, but even better, you can walk INTO the stores and buy food and put them in your fridge in yours or an employer's truck. But it cannot do that for a daycab truck. and you can sleep anywhere inside your truck (in the bed in the back of the truck). Thats more like it, ain't it?
Oh, Despiser is one of "those" people..... Only his opinion is valid while other people are brainless idiots. Only Despiser's opinion is valid while everybody else's is invalid :o
Great summary of trailer purchase and ownership - thank you. Thanks to your thorough reviews I am happily driving in ATS with a Logitech G920 wheel. Just started last week and it's lots of fun!
Hey squirrel them trailers you call curtain side at beginning of video that are black with aluminum front them are called Conestoga trailers in the U.S.A
I was just playing Dirt Rally and then this wonderful video popped up!
Years ago we used to run 57' trailers. California requires side skirts. You'll like Rocky's I love pulling them.
All we need now is Warehouse Ownership and the Warehouse Market :)
So Monopoly Simulator?
SteamKing2160 buy and import goods , and then have trailers for trucks to pick up (air trucks) and then bam your a success
yep exactly
I think they should make it so you can drop your trailer outside at your shop and pick up another one if you have one
all the trailer ownership was in 18 wheel of steel series same they took it of and we could see where the driver are on the map
53 foot trailer isn't long load, it's practically standard.
Chris Clements it's not a 48' is
Steven a 48 is not standard, 53 is standard in here in America longer the better lol
Nike boy98 okay but for me it is I see 48's a lot
53 ft trailers are limited to interstate use only or Truck routes , 48 ft trailers are more commonly used around large cities . Every city / state has its own set rules for trailer use , BUT 53 ft is federal law interstate use ONLY
I live in New York but not in the city
The difference in axle length changes the turning radius of the trailer. Closer to the rear of the truck and it turns quicker but has a swing that you have to watch out for. Further away and the turning radius of the trailer is less, you need to take turns a little wider.
Looking at the options, You can't actually make any trailer starting with any other trailer. Flatbed/Curtain siders are interchangeable, but you have to start with a solid side trailer to get those, ie. Reefer/Insulated/Box
The axles do have advantages, because if you equip some axles based more in the middle, the trailer can maneuver better through junctions and stuff and you don't have to stride out so much with your truck. :D
Also, would REALLY be nice if they introduced livestock trailers.
They would lose some players.
Fly Fly lol, no, no they wouldn't.
Vegans haha.
Fly Fly Vegans aren't people, though. :D
America's the biggest food producer in the world and it's no my fault for eating cows it just happens that he's made of beef!
You know what I want to see, a Turnpike Double, which uses two trailers between 40-53 feet each in length. That would be absolutely crazy.
SCS will likely add this when we have regions where these are legal, but in the meantime, you can use a mod like steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1158323406&searchtext=turnpike+double (keep in mind this will break with 1.32, but it will hopefully be updated quickly)
TomZeBomb where the heck is that legal
Paradox AwAkEn there are some stretches of interstate highway that allow them, like North Dakota for instance.
You should be able to own a heavy haul trailer. I think that’d be cool but I’m sure there will be a mod for it
Banana4life scs said you could be able to own any trailer in the game
Banana4life it’s will be coming but they have to get this ready for the public
Cool i like they have made it, so you can get signs on your trailers, that makes it easier to add or move the oversize sign to it if you need it or not. Hope that will happen for the trucks also soon then.
I cant wait for a mod too configure our trailers like aspen heavy haulers. Add boosters, jeeps, create modular doublewides with steerable axles, all the fun
I can't believe how hyped I am for freaking trailers lol. All this customization is freaking awesome.
DAMN I CANT WAIT
you don't need to, 1.32 beta is now available
Cheers Paul Thanks for the heads up Happy Trucking
Man, I can't wait for this stuff...going to be a lot of fun, especially since most of my company trucks are Scott A2HDs with the same paint job. And I just thought of one other thing...for ages I've had a mod for the Smokey & The Bandit trailer skin (just shows up randomly in the job market) and the Snowman skin for the W900. Should be nice to be able to actually own that truck & trailer combo. Now if we could just get someone dashing around in a black 70s Firebird with us LOL....
One mistake I would like to correct is the axle placement from changing the length of the trailer is not just cosmetic.. Changing where the axles are will changed how the trailers act when turning it
Looks amazing! I can't wait for this to come out, thanks for showing!
Always nice to watch your vids Squirrel thanks for the updates
Notice that when you bought that double trailer it says already that can bought in Oregon
Abel Mateus yea I saw that too 😃
Probably because Oregon is gonna release with 1.32? Not really a surprise...
I really love the background music in your videos make the videos more enjoyable to watch. :)
Funny, I know a Geoff. Awesome addition to ATS as well that it'll make it feel like a light RTS game, or RPG.... Depends on how you view it haha. Managing your trailers and such. I would really love to see your AI drivers pulling the trailer you gave it at random on the road, similar to Bus Sim 18 seeing your customized bus heh.
This video is exactly half an hour on purpose? lol Happy it is it saves me from telling my parents how long ill be watching
Well done Paul you did an amazing ARE video on your own trailers i am so looking forward to 1.32 coming out but on the other hand I dont have the italia DOC so promods 2.30 won t work so I will have to buy the DLC. 👋
I was hoping you could park your own trailer inside your own garage.. I park so many trailers at different places, why not park it ourselves at our garage?
Yes/No :D As there's nothing stopping you from simply detaching your trailer outside/inside your garage and say it's "parked" there and drive off.
I agree. Each truck depot has 5 roller doors, I'd like to park trailers in those garages so I can come in and out and pick up and drop off trailers when I want to swap them out.
Never going to happen, but I prefer that over a menu screen that attaches your trailer for you.
@Hem57i for the last part. When you select the Use button it depends how it attaches. If your in the garage it will attach to the truck automatically, if your not in garage you will have to drive up to the trailer and attach it. :)
That wont work cause if you then would to go and visit the job freight market and go to the pickup point, the game will tell you that you have to park the trailer so it says parked in the trailer manager .
its not a cosmetic thing at the moment the axles. in California the length limit is decided by the distance between the kingpin and the center of the first trailer axle.
so certain axle combinations are not possible in California, and you might get a fine if you drive on the California interstate with a trailer that does not meet California regulations.
you might want to put that in a little pop up in the video.
53 foot trailers are standard in America lol "long load" sign really 😂
MrManuel1329 he’s english we have very strict and limited trailer restrictions
And no sign on the doubles😂
Just a note you would never drive a 53ft van on the road with the axles all the way to the rear, usually we have them set at around 40ft or closer with few exceptions.
I hope if they expand the map to the lower 48 states, they put the 53’ doubles that you can run in North Dakota.
Next I think we would like bigger garages. Or even a trailer yard to park our trailers in and we can go swap them out when ever we need to do a different load
What next we 'll have warehousing then bigger terminals !
now we need warehouses we can buy, then buy and import goods , and buy trailers for trucks that are not part of our company to take and deliver. and then you have other trucks come back with goods snd deliver and you have to deliver those. it would really be fun to do that
This was the biggest request the trailers. that's a great video
the axle placement will affect the turning radius of the truck and how it tracks around corners
20:49 I'm going to throw up from that much chrome on trailer. Thank you, Squirrel 😂😂
Nice coolur on the truck, i think they will implement more options when they know how things go. I have Euro Truck S2.
To get a better productivity, get then better trucks with bigger fuel tanks. You’ll also need to wait for them to grow their rating.
One thing I noticed, he said doubles and triples had to be bought in Nevada, as they are only legal there. Triples, yes, but it's the Rocky Mountain doubles that are only legal in NV. Standard doubles are legal in all states.
Ronald Golleher bc he is an idiot, he doesn’t put effort into actually learning ats, he gives no energy or anything to it
I wish they would give you bigger yards at some of the drop off and pickup points.and I want B doubles.
lol was just thinking how ETS2 gets the trailer update, but i didnt see any new for ATS getting it. Thanks!
Store a trailer into a trailer????? XD I know there is some trailers made to transport trailers, but not store them. I think it was a derp moment Squirrel :P
it's even funnier because you can actually take jobs where you transport two flatbeds on a bigger flatbed
Very nice video, I really enjoyed the latest ETS 2 one as well. Have a good one, Squirrel :)
I haven't tested 1.32, but when you say that the "Current COMPANY job offers" gives you the jobs from the current TOWN it does not feel right. :)
Konstantin Vlasov he said it right in the ets video :P
It's neither, it's not based on Town/City as it says it's per the "current company" your dropping the trailer off. Not all the jobs within the current Town/City.
Love the video Squirrel keep up the great work!
It’d also be awesome if we could park the trailer in the garage and just press t, and then making it available for the AIs. I mean, makin the parking more real. You park it inside the garage, and press t, you detach the trailer and it stays in the garage
Finally, them devs are doing the one thing that was already in the base game in the 18 Wheels of Steels series.
The only thing i don’t like is the fact we cant unhitch our trailers on companies or rest stops , leave them there , do a freight job , return hitch it back on and maybe take a avzilable load with your OWN trailer without needing it to dump it to garage
Rocky Mtn. Doubles are also called A-trains, kinda like how B-trains are also called Super-Bs
I honestly think there shouldn't be an option for long load signs and such for single trailers that are closed up (curtain sides, refrigerated, dry vans, etc) because those signs are used for loads that hang out of the trailer's sides/rear or pulling trailers that are bigger than double pup trailers (like triple pups or a full size and a single pup) but that's my opinion and the limitations of what to haul depending on what trailer you have is based on real life scenarios because if you're in a city in real life and found out that there's a load of pipes needing to be delivered for a lot of money I'm sure you wouldn't drive 100+ miles to swap out trailers and then go those 100+ miles back to the yard for that load, especially if it's an urgent delivery but there should be an option where you can pick up side jobs at places like trucks stops and whatnot from scenarios like another driver broke down and need the trailer delivered and it's a good chunk of change but it's a rare thing in the game, that would be a nice feature
Hello there I'm playing in the public beta and I was just wondering at what level in your career do you need to where you can buy your first trailer?
that paintjob is sick
28:13 hahahah you just teleported somewhere close :P sneaky
Can't wait for the open beta!!
1 week later: It's all been updated and you have icons.
19:09 can click on map view at the bottom to see where ur drivers are on the map
loving the music lol
that elevator music in the background though :D
I have a question about both ETS2 and ATS. Can you own a refrigerated trailer and still use it for non-perishable items. I was thinking about because if you can you might as well buy a refrigerated trailer so that you can haul anything you want.
Wouldn't changing the placement of the axel back or forth change the turning circle of the trailer tho?
It would also be interesting if you had to clean your truck and trailer once in a while
You were suppose to leak the new Volvo! Lol
There is no Volvo coming. The license is still being worked on. The next truck has been confirmed as being an International.
Wait there is a new volvo?
AyMazing ATS In their ATS live stream they said they were testing the Volvo truck in its late stages and also tell me how a Volvo truck got on the side of an SCS paint job for big sur? Have to have licensing for it! 😉
ThatOneGuy, if you watched there live stream on ATS (First One) they talked about licensing and testing in stages. If you noticed as well, a Volvo was on the Big sur paint job which hinted to us that licensing may be finished and we may have a Volvo truck in the game very soon. We’ll see though!
Volvo has actually be in the ATS since it was released. The truck and the Volvo dealership has been in ATS files since it released in 2016. It has taken SCS this long to get the license for it, and who knows, they are probably still working on trying to get a license for it. Why it takes years and years to get a simple license..who knows. Any other game dev company can get licenses in a few short months.
3 years..... it has almost been 3 years since this game was released and we still haven't got a single new truck...sad.
When you adjust the axles more to the front, on your trailer. Would that not have influence on the turning radius ?? I think it would.....
Rob Bleeker Yeah it should change how the trailer turns. The game recognizes the difference steering axles on trailers makes so surely the forward and rearward options will slightly change it as well. Of course the most interesting thing would be how a spread axle trailer would work if they implemented real physics on it since turning too tightly with a spread axle will cause some of the trailer wheels to drag
Thank you for clarifying this, i've never bothered with trailers as of yet.
Hmm. Wouldn't it be better to showcase the final release version instead of doin a video on the unfinished pre release stuff? Double work maybe? Just a thought. Anyways, great addition to the game actually! Looking forward to it!
OMG, I love UK's accent. It's legit the best!
LOLz, Love the beta with the Dimiss trailer instead of Dismiss trailer.... though I can't blame them as I did that while typing this lol
Am just wondering, as you see him deliver his trailer , are there any drop off points like that in ETS2 ? that are so well designed with an npc and cars in car park sitting there and so on? In ETS2 i remember all drop offs are like factory based, not like here where you actual deliver goods to a shop location. I hope you get what i mean , and could you give me some thoughts on it? as in is there mods of such a thing or?
So quick question. We have to level up for bigger better trucks etc. do we have to level up for bigger better trailers as well? Also are we going to get tanks and low loaders?
Yes kind of the higher your level the more trailers become available...
yes you do
yea he probably didn't realize it because he was using a new profile
Squirrel one thing you did not say (or I missed) is... Can you have more then 1 trailer per garage ? like you have 5 trailer per garage, so technically all you assigned drivers to that location could take one at the same time ?
The axles on the trailers should be adjustable during use. That way you can gain handling and what not.
Steve you don’t move axles to gain handling, you move them to be legal.
What position is illegal vs what is legal? I never heard of this. I deal mainly with box trailers and van trailers with sliding axles. In most cases the driver has the axles either halfway forward or all the way to balence out the load and the empty trailers have them all the way back. Maybe law verys from state to state.
Steve you slide the axles and 5th wheel to adjust the weight on the axles. 34k on drives and 34k on tandems. If the trailer tandems are heavy, you slide the axle backwards, if the drives are heavy you slide the trailer axles forwards to take the weight off the drives. And if sliding the axles isn’t enough, a lot of trucks have a sliding 5th wheel also. There is also the bridge formula you have to follow depending on what state you are in. Each state has its own bridge formula. I drive a fixed spread axle flatbed and fixed 5th wheel so I haven’t had to pay attention to the bridge law since the axles are fixed at California settings and I have a line across my trailer that marked load center/balance point. The bridge formula dictates how far that center of the tandem axles in the trailer can be from the kingpin.
Do u have to reverse your trailer for loading and unloading cargo unlike before u could play it safe
wild guess for the productivity. a full garage with maxed skilled ppl with a trailer would be 100% productivity?
Mr. Squirrel I would like to know if you would make a video on how to use the modder? It's alittle confusing to me.
when I had a trailer in Reno and I was in New Mexico it give me the route to my trailer and I don't want to drive that far so I hit 0 to activate flying then move to where I want to spawn spawn and the trailer magically teleports on my truck.
I think having this update really will make the game better and more realistic and i like the way you can skin the trailers your self. And do u think someone will add trailer skins mods to the game?
I think another thing that would make ATS more realistic is better mirrors, because it is not realistic at all to have to get out of the truck to back into a loading dock or any tight area looking out side the truck as Squirrel did in this video. Most real truck drivers do their best never to back up " blind side" as Squirrel did in this video. When it's possible which is about 50% of the time, I look out the drivers side window, the left side (drivers side on ATS) of my truck is facing the loading dock or parking area, and back in that way which would be the way a real truck driver would back up and then I use the mirrors when I'm very close to the two green lines to park the trailer to finish lining up. I found it possible but very hard to back up blind side staying inside the truck and just using the mirrors. However, ATS is still a fun game and I enjoy it, and I can only assume the engineers of the game did their best to make it as real as possible. Perhaps in a few up-grades from now, they will add a "zoom" feature to the mirrors so we can see lines and things from far away and also be square with the truck. A zoom feature may make it possible to "blind side back up" without exiting the truck cab but blind side backing up is dangerous in a real truck as it would be in a ATS truck. It's just my opinion. I am sure a lot of people wish for different things. All in all I think it's a fun game especially for the price they charge for it and at least they are working on improvements and other mods for ATS.
Loads of people will
Orlando Levy i’m sure ! it’s probably the same as making a truck skin just a few changes
Yh and I hope u could get someone to configure me a truck and trailer skin for me in my name
Orlando Levy i don’t know anyone that can. the workshop will be loaded though, like regular trailers
I noticed on the 1st page..... You have TWO options on your flatbed trailer... ONE that says "flatbed" and a 2nd option that says "DOUBLE" flatbed.... WHAT is the difference?? The "double" option is already given to you in the regular flatbed tab...Even the head board is available in "flatbed"
Yes yes yes yes about time getting the Logitech steering gear to make it even better
This well bring life back into the game.
i hope they add the ability to buy super heavy haul trailers
Do you think this update will allow moders to make functioning straight trucks and dump trucks
I think that would be cool if you was to be driving and one of your drivers was going by the opposite way and had a map that you can see where there at
this is great, im excited but i have one question. where is driving school # 7 & 8?.....
Hey Squirrel, on the Dry van side, can you get a spread axle on a 53ft trailer?
Can’t wait thx for the awesome vid
Can you tweak the physics in ATS now, as you can (as your vid explained) for Euro Truck Sim 2?
I want Turnpike Doubles as a chain type.
I wonder if they will add dual 53ft trailers like we have in Quebec (and probably many other places)
Those are called Turnpike Doubles here in the states. They're only allowed in very few states.
Do we know if you will have to refuel reefer trailers as well or no?
Dropped a like I love watching your videos on trucking
Can you tell the difference between a loaded or unloaded trailer?
