- Backing on to dock. B-Double. Aldi warehouse in Minchinbury, NSW Australia.
A-trailer(front) slides back on rail via electric motor and lever to connect with b Trailer (rear), with doors on both front and back of rear trailer to allow walk through loading / unloading.
Few years late but made a video explaining the technique used for anyone looking for some pointers. • Reversing B double ont... - Авто/Мото
i can do this in my sleep... but not when i'm awake. nice skills!!
Made me spit my coffee out🤣🤣🤣
They had us in the first half not gonna lie😂😂
Haha 😂 nice one
@@dylanbesaw7256 yeah exactly 🤣
😂 yoh don' kill me
Nice work 👌
Slow, steady, precise...
The short cabover certainly helps too 😊
Doing the same thing over and over in the same yards helps, but making it an artform is something that not many can do !
Its nice to see operators taking pride in their abilities 😊
From another fellow b double operator of 25 years from general freight to tippers,
Well done mate 👏
Wow it looks easy here lol. I can't even drive these trailers in the Truck Simulator game with the 3rd person camera 😂 love watching truckers back into tricky spots. Mad respect!
I can but went its not lag
You have clearly done this once or twice before, I'm officially impressed. I drive a regular truck with the same kind of trailer as your B trailer, and only two axles in the dolly. I would never have been able to do it that easily with a B-Double.
To back up a double and end up nice and perpendicular to the dock is one thing, but lining it up perfectly on the line like that is incredible!
I could watch this all day, absolutly stuns me how you make it look so easy
There's a super special skill to doing this, well done 👍🏼🇯🇲
Nice work! Back when B Doubles were first introduced, they said "You'll always have to un-couple them to reverse!" Well, skilled drivers proved that wrong pretty quickly. In defense of the people saying, it back then you had little short B trailers that did make it a bit trickier. Still, really impressive work.
Hat's off to you mate, that was poetry in motion
You just put every American truck driver to shame God damn
Bloody hell mate. I can drive a semi trailer but I wouldn't even know where to start backing up one of these bastards. Nice job, very impressed.
It's opposite to a Single, turn the Wheel the direction you want the rear Trailer to go.
It's really not that hard. Obviously takes some skill. I drive for ups and I'm able to back up a double but our sets have a dolly in between do there's 3 different shift points while he only has 2. Huge difference in difficulty
@Len_M. That doesnt work when trying to go around corners, thats only for straight lines. Easiest way i learnt was to make the A trailer do what the prime mover does in a normal reverse and dont think about the truck
probably this would take my whole day
Several days, day by day inch by inch 8 hours a day.
I didn't know this was possible i thought they disconnect the trailers and backed them up individually
That was amazing... I've never hauled a double before but I would sure love to learn...awesome
Этот B-train здаёт задним ходом также как и обычный full trainer только разница в длинне.
Holy shit and here's me who can hardly do it with a 4 metre trailer, lol. Mucho respect to anyone who can do things I can't.
Small trailers are actually harder in a way. They turn too sharp for you to be able to correct it in time with your vehicle.
What a boss.. And i struggle in American truck sim with one trailer lol
Heck I thought you had on the first shot. Amazing
Hello to my old friend ! We got lots of new drivers, Ned is still there😏
Good old Aldi Minchinbury! Nice work!
Last time I drove I backed over the curb on the side of the dock and had to correct. That was with one trailer, and truck with way better visibility, in a wide open space. Homie just made me feel less then an inch tall lol 😂😂😅
Mad skills mate !!!
You made that look way to easy lol .
I strive to be as good as you one day
Experience doesn’t come in one day takes a lot of time sometime and backing in a b double surly is not as easy as this guy does good one you mate
Absolutely fantastic skills mate
Thanks
We’ll done fella I can put a five axle dog anywhere but had a go at backing up a B double a couple of weeks back whole different ball game that was an impressive job especially coming at 90 degrees I hope they’re looking after you well to keep you on
No muckin around luv it mate👍🏻, im a forkie n seriously some drivers i see come into our yard can take no joke 10-15mins to back a double into the docks, always good to watch a pro bang it straight in first go
Amazing how many forkies are experts in backing them never holding anything other then a car licence eh?...btw was a forkie before my balls dropped
Who gives a shit if they take 10-15 mins if you’re a forkie commenting on it then your opinion is invalid
@@johnconley3218 Haaa
YT algo just sent this to me. Terrific job docking, mister!
WOW! YOu can't even see what is behind the last trailer and still you manage to put it right on the dot!
Unbelievably skilled! 👌
Really incredible skills
I can back a single 18 wheeler up without pulling forward, but I've never tried it with two and certainly not three as some of the shots seems to indicate. Amazing. I requires a natural ability of interpreting spatial relations.
3? Only Australia has something like that, -- and more.
B-double / 2 trailers / semi's in this configuration doesn't take long to ~if not master, atleast do comfortably.
Only a bit harder than a single semi.
I'd say - difficulty wice, it's in the middle of single semi, and backing up a single drawbar trailer where the front axle turns on its own.
( I chose to take my certificate - driving license with drawbar trailer, instead of semi. Much easier to connect and dismount than a Semi, but much harder to reverse with and park. Don't know about in the US, but in Norway its an option, what configuration you want to drive on your "big day".)
Just practise man a monkey can drive these things...speaking from experience
Incredible work fella!
Everyone needs to respect our truck drivers or get in the cab and do it yourself. Good luck with that
Seriously impressive.
Awesome driving!
Well done from Canada
nice mate well done slow and steady wins the race
Awesome work Aldi driver
His skills are not the backing up part but the positioning of the last hitch while pulling in 👍
Good clearance and visibility
I was at a Toll depot in Adelaide a few weeks ago and he said he saw a beginner and offered to reverse his truck for $20 and that’s cheap apparently haha. Going for my MC Easter Monday. Cannot wait for the journey!
What if the yard was cramed would you be able to make the moves...?
Love's ya work...amazing how guys would be correcting at least three/four times 👍👍👍
I don't think I'd ever get it. I'd have to detach one trailer and come back for it
I've been running a shunt last 2 years. Only had to put singles on dock. Love the truck and dog. Spent many an hour tipping into bins in concrete plants. Not a problem. This combination. Yeah nah.
Perfectly job well done great skill
I do some wknd change overs most of the time we don't get to reverse our double trailers onto the dock its left for the tug operator, for us its, uncouple and couple up to the next set and get going again but, if time permits I usually put my trailers onto the dock so I can improve my reversing skills I've only been driving doubles for 18mnths and drive every second wknd,im in a excavator during the week,im know where near your level of revesing skill but one day hopefully...nice work(skills) 👍👌
practice makes perfect
Well done!!!
amazing skill
I'm like yeah right and I'm shock and amaze major skills
Bloody Hells Bells, if I tried that it would end up looking like a granny knot. Deepest respect from an old man in the uk. 😎 👍
Done a brilliant job mate! I’m going for Mc license soon, made my own b double toy to play around with to gather the concept of reversing haha
Ah good luck! When getting MC license you only have to reverse in a straight line. Anything more complicated will be learning on the job.
@@vigbrastle update, I got it. Had to reverse 100m straight back and parallel to a line. I’m driving semi’s now. Every now and then doubles but i don’t have to do any of this finger dock stuff haha
@@willnewing4240right on cobba do your time in hc. So many doods wanna go straight to mc with little to no experience. Do your time and become an asset.
Very very well done
Well done mate.
Very well done
Brilliant skill there 👍🏻. I drive for Aldi in the UK and the reverses onto the bays at stores are ridiculous. They're mostly in busy car parks and often have to be done at dodgy angles on the blindside 🤦🏻♂️
I don't drive for Aldi anymore but I do remember we had a few of those, there were some funny ones, usually in older/existing buildings or large shopping centres. Freestanding designed stores typically were ok. Had a workmate there from London actually, told me all about it. Not a place I envy to drive I think, In particular those narrow rural roads where trucks basically have to stop to pass eachother.
@@vigbrastle yeah, it's a bit of a nightmare at times 😆
Need those types of doubles in the America, that’s simple.
Very good Drive ☺️
Impressive.
Thank you.
That’s impressive! 👏👏👍👍
Wow...so smooth
top job mate
nice work, greetins from aldi germany :-)))))))))
Unbelivable! Wow!
require so much feel for the distance and perception, like he said, inyour head, totally. i was barely a classe 3 garbage truck driver and yea i got the feel for my truck just nice
Man dont be so hard on yourself. Just because you dont have this elite skills doesnt mean you are a garbage of a driver!
Great Trucker!!
Nice work cuz
next level...
Very nice driver! U made it look easy
I'm well aware of how hauling doubble's work when utilzing pups. And how they can be broke down, and backed up to a dock independently of one another. I've seen the design of the b doubble's and wonder as to how does one after docking the last wagon, and disconnect from the front wagon. Does the front wagon fit into a dock with the fifth wheel for the second trailer being where it is.
There's a lever on the side connected to an electric motor which rolls the box back on a rail.
Now that's a pro!
Fuck that, bad enough trying to reverse a single trailer on a good day. These drivers have top reversing skills.
Awesome display of skill & ability, was that at Minchinbury warehouse in Sydney ?
Indeed it was
Is this at Minchinbury? If it is then this was taken way before 2017 as Rand do not use Iveco Prime movers anymore and there is a Rand truck on dock
Video timestamp says 2013.
LIKE A GLOVE!!!
Nice one. Now try backing an A-Double into Melbourne Vict container terminal 😁
amazing...
Thats Amazing
Perfect 👌🏾
Some people got what it takes truly
Does the rear trailer have doors at the front to get to the front trailer on a loading dock?
Yes
@@vigbrastle thanks i didnt know that
Well done i say
Hatts off driver
Well ,that seemed straightforward
This is what's called in America "Piggy backing" trailers. Hauling one trailer behind another on the back of the cab.
What is the name of Trucking
10 out of 10
I back 5R8 low loaders into a tight work shop but I'd love to have the chance to try what you do one day
We used to say when someone was trying it for the first time if they get it in before the auto clutch starts to burn up they're doing well.
Pretty fucking good bro!
A+
Просто БРАВО!!!
SKILLS!
Try that with a set that has a dolly
art
Practise makes master
Nice👍
♥️
Focus on the dolly wheels angle and use the whole rig as your front steering axle... .. and a lot of practice for sure
Boss mode wow!
Freaking awsome
There are some people who catch on quick and can do this easily every time and will be able to forever….I am not one of those people lol. I have and can back up B-trains but for me it’s something I have to do consistently to remain good at it. When I go months without driving the trains my reverse skills diminish quickly lol
That was impressive no doubt. It’s most impressive when there are trailers in docks on both sides of the one you need. I will admit when I encounter this, I split them lol
I can imagine B trains would be much more difficult to back. Can't say i've tried it myself
@@vigbrastle Some people just have a knack for it. Like I said I can do it but it’s something I have to do consistently to be good at it. When I go months without hauling trains I have difficulty getting it done easily. I’ve never been good enough to think about making the attempt with trailers on both sides of the dock I needed. I have worked with at least one guy who could. That takes a special skill.
I think any truck driver could get the hang of it with some practice
this look crazy to someone about to get HR license soon like me. amazing!
Do you have Japanese background?
Ah good luck with that. If not already, learn how to do truckers hitch before going for lessons. Otherwise you'll have to waste time on it like I did. And nah I'm not Japanese but have a Japanese partner, and have been learning it for years/ do much activity online in Japanese so tend to provide translations for what I can.
@@vigbrastle Trucker hitch before lesson?! will ask my instructor next time.
