    I`m Mexican, here it`s officialy not permited to overtake on solid double yellow, but, everybody, incuding cops and other authorities do it, and Hugooces (the map developer), has modeled the roads according to that. It`s not a mistake, nor an error, it`s just realism in the way Mexicans drive

      PBimagen That’s what I was thinking. I’ve never been to Mexico but I hear there’s some pretty crazy driving that happens there.

    Hey Squirrel, at 2:50 when you said how the AI tend to pass you on a double solid line, I think it was made like that on purpose to portray how drivers in Mexico actually drive. So yeah, when I first encountered this, I wasn’t pretty surprised.

  • @richardiusa5189
    @richardiusa5189 6 лет назад +9

    In Mexico you actually can turn right in red after making a full stop, and also here there isn’t so many culture of not overtaking in a double solid yellow line sadly

    The trailer is from the Heavy cargo pack DLC, it’s even shown in the DLC thumbnail. That being said, great job backing an articulated trailer.

  • @SpatialDragon
    @SpatialDragon 6 лет назад +10

    Set your Jake Brake as your left flappy paddle and your trailer brake to your right flappy paddle. Most trailer brakes are on the right side. Then when your are on an uphill hold the trailer brake, that keeps it from rolling, but the truck brakes are disengaged which slips the clutch and acts like an automatic trans "stall torque converter."

  • @brunoraoni

    12:00 Oh the innocence Squirrel, Oversized trucks often drive above the speed limit, and the escorting cars tend to push everybody out of the way soo that they can pass then, this way they can somewhat compensate the fact that they can only drive during the day light hours.

    Good to have You back in the trucks again Paul, But im so sorry you are lost in Europe to me it looks like we are in USA. When I went to school in the early days, we learned that Mexico was a part of America. so if that didn't changed for the past 35 years, we are not in ETS2 but ATS what it also looks like. Yea yea i know you come a lot around in the world in your games. Just a little bit of information so you do not drive wrong and turn towards Hamburg, so it will be a long video. LOL keep on truckin and no hard feelings about your Little mistake about where we are.

    I doubt its modeled but the torque converter in an automatic transmission does multiply torque and could allow a truck to start moving in a situation where a manual wouldnt.

    • @Robbedem
      @Robbedem 6 лет назад +2

      I think it's a design decision to make it easier for non hardcore players.
      Hardcore players will use manual shifting, so they use the realistic system.
      More casual players will use automatic shifting and the devs probably made it so that on automatic, a truck will always be able to start. Even if it's on a steep hill.
      (seems like a good decision to me by te way)

    • @jschackmann2
      @jschackmann2 6 лет назад

      Robbedem I have my game in real auto. Mostly because my wheel and pedals set does not have a a shifter

    • @Ronald.Golleher
      @Ronald.Golleher 6 лет назад

      I think too that the game engine was more designed for automatic driving. But the automatic used isn't so much like a car auto, with torque converter and such, it just means the game takes care of shifting and working the clutch.

    Boy, do Mexicans love their speed bumps. Every 5 miles on major roads AT LEAST. Plus they like to drive rather quickly on the highways UNTIL you hit an exit ramp (which too is littered with speed bumps) then it's a snails pace. The vehicles in game are actually moving too fast for it. Imagine going on a ramp at the same speed as if you were looking for a place to park you car in a parking lot/Car park. That is genuinely how slow the drive on exit ramps.

    For anyone that cares, a scraper is actually for scraping topsoil from an area. It’s what creates the large jump shaped hills in construction sites/fields. The top soil is scraped and removed before building on the land. The soil is screened and sold as topsoil.

    A scraper like that is not so much to scrape up existing road, that would be the asphalt miller. Scraper is more for scraping up dirt, more in prep for making a new road. Can make the dirt fairly level much faster than say a dozer would, especially if the terrain is already pretty close to what you need.

    My truck at work has an Eaton 10 speed. It's a flatbed International 8100 with a Cummins M11. I usually take off in 4th when empty up to about 10K lbs. I start in 3rd when 10-16K. 2nd from 16-24K (max load). I only use 1st in steep hills or if I need to crawl forward. Normally you do not have split geats in Eaton 10's. Usually, it's a dogleg 1st/6th gear with a high low range. Reverse above 1st/6th. Every Eaton 10 I have driven works like that. Never seen one with a splitter. Just a range selector.

    In Mexico City there is no right turn on red but I can’t confirm if it’s the same on other states. I do sometimes however turn right on red if there is no traffic coming.
    Also speed bumps are everywhere and the little ones that are on the highways are used to make you reduce your speed before turns.

As I'm quite new to ATS I feel very confortable to see that those map mods are going to a similar direction as we find on Ets2 map mods such as Promods, Rusmap and Southern Region. Also, I'm using the same truck and I'm really enjoying it. It's simple, with a decent customization options and the engine sound is great. I do prefer this kind of truck model on ATS tho. Anyways, thank you for this vid and congrats for your work!

      Speed bumps are common in Mexico but those small speed bums you hit when entering a highway are some kind of indicator that advices you to control your speed in that zone

    The roads around the 21 minute mark are just like here, doesn't look like much and then your airborne lol and I love the game, it's such a good game especially with all the insane mods, I just wish I could afford a decent wheel setup, the cheapest one I found was 540 dollars, if I'm gonna drop that kind of cash on something like that it would take at least 2 years of saving and I've been saving for a better computer instead which is more important overall

    In h-shifter sometimes when the truck fails on a hill, I normally just run to the second gear and I'm good, I think it's a bug 😅

    Changing to Simple Automatic does not grant extra torque. The reason the engine is cutting out is because you're lifting the your foot too fast from the clutch. The way to climb in first gear is to gently lift the clutch and slowly begin applying the accelerator pedal. Exactly like how it would be in a real manual transmission truck.

    Yes, in the States you can turn right on red, unless it says not too. I'm not sure about Mexico.

  • @DuckOfRubber

    The states in Mexico are called states. Like in the US, right turn stop and yield on red varies by locality. It is legal in most places in Mexico. Cars overtaking on a solid yellow is illegal but people do it all the time in Mexico so it may be an unintentionally accurate bug or maybe the mod designer has a sense of humour.

    Are you every going to do the last two episodes of trucking school. I would love if you could do that or do a video on how to drive the truck with retarder, engine brake, air brake simulation, manual gear shifting, and all of that stuff?

    Last Eaton 10-speed I drove you can't split any of the gears and usually I can start out with second if empty go through 5th hit the range selector and then start at 6th up to gear 10

    I never noticed the problem you experienced with being unable to move in first up a hill, while the automatic transmission can... they should definitely fix that bug.
