2 Plate Method 2 Way & Intermediate Switching - Continuity of CPC, Polarity & Insulation Resistance

- In this video we look at a lighting circuit using the 2 plate method that is controlled by 2 way and intermediate switching. I demonstrate how to test for continuity of the CPC, polarity and insulation resistance. It is very important that all electronic devises are removed before carrying out our insulation resistance test. I also demonstrate how the insulation resistance test should be carried out to help with end point assessment for City and Guild 8208, 5357, TLevels, 2391, AM2 and AM2S for apprentice electricians plus learner training.

I find on site no one will pull down every downlight to check a cpc/r1r2. They'll just look for the end downlight or measure at the switch(which amazes me tbh)
Very informative video but in the real world it doesn't happen that way in my experience.
Could also come off end switch to lights and carry N and Strappers through 3c
Still a very useful video though . Great video as always Gaz 👍
Genuine question, why is it called 'plate'?
hi, i have only just found your channel and i'll be watching alot of the videos
i do have a question that you may have already covered in a video so it may take me a while to find it.
yes i'm in the uk,
i'm changing my garage flo't lights to led battens which is a straight forward unit swap but i want to replace the supply from a common single switch to a multi gang (6 lights) switch with a master switch
this would be one switch to turn on / off the switches and those switches would be either on or off as last used / or switchable etc
question i have is would i be best off using a 9 gang switch block and have one switch as the master or have a 6 gang block and a separate switch as the master,
would this be the 9 gang = neat vs the master and 6 gang being that bit safer but an extra switch
the garage has its own supply board with pcb's where the power comes in from the house (45 amp supply) as the garage is connected to the house rather than separate out building
this circuit will be lighting only (6 x 22w led battens)
18th edition amendment 2 now requires we do IR test twice first at 500vDC before accessories are installed then at 250 vDC when electronic accessories are installed or At 500v DC between line and neutral combined, to earth
Or have got that wrong . ?
Gaz I messaged you on Facebook mate
