- Student training aid for the connections required to wire a lighting circuit using the 2 plate method. Video explains the connection required to add more lighting points (LED downlight or LED spotlight) via this wiring diagram. The circuit is wired in twin and CPC cables (twin and earth cable), 3 core and CPC cable and is a wiring diagram for this circuit. This video will show learners how to connect up extra LED downlights (spot lights) when the feed (supply) is taken directly to it and not first to the lighting point. This 2 plate method is often used in domestic dwellings where there is lots of LED spotlights to wire in one room and can also be called taking the supply to the switch.
How to wire up a LED lights - this wiring diagram will help you understand the connection requires at each new lighting point.

Excellent video, it addressed my concerns regarding installing multiple LED downlights from a single switch
Amazing videos, amazing and clear instructions.
I believe a lot of people will learn so much from you
Thank you for making it so simple and easy to understand.
Keep up the good work and videos
Thanks for the amazing comment 👍🏻
Brilliant demonstration Gaz.👍🏼
Thanks 🙌🏻

Can I just ask an expert. What would be the case if there are 2 existing ceiling lights? How would you loop the downlighters into the 2 existing lights that were there originally? Thanks in advance I am still learning.
Can I take the power for a led downlight direct from the original ceiling rose in the room..?
Replacing the original light Baton and cable for the new led ?
Many thanks
👍🙏🇬🇧
Hello Gaz, I was wondering if you could please help me, I have the copper wire with multicolour LEDS, the problem is the controller has failed, and I need to find a simple circuit to alternate the polarity of the 5v wire (if you connect the power to the wires the yellow and green leds light up, if you change the power leads over, the blue and red leds light up) P.S. all the parts on the failed controller have no makings at all
Thanks
I see double insulated LED downlighters being sold that allow live and neutral to be looped to another light but don't have the terminals to loop the CPC. How could they be used in a compliant install?
What if we want to add 3 wires to a connection? Would we need a junction box in that case?
Aside from probably needing to add a junction box to deal with all the wires are there any issues with "looping out" of a light fitting to feed multiple other lights from a single point? (What you talk about at 4:47)
Thinking that might be easier when adding extra light fittings to an existing circuit for example
Thanks for commenting and watching 👍🏻
Hi guys!!
Can you please give me examples of auxiliary equipment related to Electrical installation field?
I am going back an fourth trying to help somebody with NVQ portofolio and I really want to help and support as much as I can.
Thank you in advance! 👋🙏
Great video. Gary, easy when you know how.
Are those Led lights low voltage or mains, ie 12v 24v or 240v?
Mains voltage to the driver 👍.
@@GSHElectrical so why do we have to use a fire hood over the lamp fitting? As specially as LEDs don’t get hot or heat up ?
If we put the fire hood over the driver then surly that would get a lot hotter a lot quicker?
Cables always confuse me. If neutral is the return of the flow then why would You need another cable? Surely brown would be going in and neutral would be going out.
Obviously that's wrong but to me it makes sense :-/
Great Vids. Just to confirm for multiple spotlights that are controlled by one light switch. Does the power from the consumer unit run to the light switch and then on to the first light in the chain? Thanks
Yes they do
Hi, if i have say 9 downlighters and wanted 6 on one switch and 3 on another switch whats the best way to do it thanks
Look in my wiring diagram playlist for some help on 2 gang switches…

Maybe worth doing this CPD to see how many lights you can have on one switch 👍🏻
