Honestly I'd only ever recommend the first 25 episodes of Death Note because the second half loses a lot of its soul after the events of episode 25 if you know you know.
Beginner anime fan starter pack 1. Death Note 2. Attack on Titan 3. One Punch Man (at least s1) Honorable mention: Monster. Havent tried recommending this one yet, but if your friend liked Death Note, Monster has those same qualities and realistic visuals.
@@gallenberger1I've gotten 5 people into anime with AoT. It is the most Western-friendly anime. Anyone who likes epic dramas like GoT or LOTR is easy to hook.
The first anime i watched was Sword Art Online. I first watched it when the second series came out, and when i told one of my friends who was into anime, he recommended Overlord. I looked at the description of it, then got distracted by a recommendation of Death Note.
@@gallenberger1 i thought it was pretty neat if a little over the top. My mom walked into the scene where the one guy(i forget names) paralyzed Kirito and another guy and starts stabbing them in a canyon, so she was kinda freaked out about me watching a show about stabbing people. Anyways, i watched Death Note a month later maybe? This was years ago so i don't remember much and i haven't watched SAO in a while, though i did watch Death Note recently.
@@gallenberger1 You mean the SAO series? I stopped watching after the second series, i watched a few episodes of the gun one but lost interest quickly. Death Note i watch frequently, it’s one of those series for me where i rewatch it every year or so, like Stargate SG1, or MLP:FIM.
All my siblings know death note bc I made them watch it. So they all kind of get some references from anime in memes and they tell me about it. However most never watched another anime just death note to please me bc I wouldn’t shut up about it 😂
@@gallenberger1 When then Netflix adaptation came out, she was legitimately upset at it! xD She likes detective/mystery shows in particular, so DeathNote was a perfect fit for her!
@@gallenberger1 do you remember if there is a lot of blood in death note? squimish people don't handle blood well which could be another deterent.what do you think were some of the death note murder's bloody enough for it to be a factor?
I remember the first anime I ever watched was a rental vhs of Guyver. I was like, “woah! This is different!” Then with Saturday Morning Anime on the Sci-fi channel and Toonami on Cartoon Network. I think Death Note was one of those shows that displays the full potential of anime.

I'd probably swap AoT with MHA. Simply because AoT is super dark, and a little more out there. Overall great list.

@305Independent The issue with AoT is it's too gory for a lot of people. If they can handle darkness, then yeah AoT is pretty much perfect
2:10 Considering the previous sentence, I thought you were going to say “Everyone is fully-clothed” instead of fleshed out lol
@@empty_melodies 🤣🤣🤣 I should've
As a big potato chip fan, this is definitely one of my favorite animes

Imo fmab is the greatest starter anime but I understand death note
@VerifiedDiscipline That requires a little more buy in imo but is also easier for anyone to enjoy.

That's an interesting thought. I could see more action oriented fans not being huge on that though for a first anime
