What is great about this lens is the local contrast, it's very good at f1.4, but the sharpness and global contrast are pretty low, so it gives a very nice look at this lens, really perfect for video (but also for stills). Another thing I like is the colors, when paired with the GH6 and G9II, the colors are among the best I've seen.
this lens is great truly, if you don't need weather sealing the mark i version is the way to go for extra savings. It. has character (there's still softness compared to the oly 25 1.8 and 1.2) that makes it a seller for me. the mark ii is weather sealed and I will say it's worth it for me to get for street photography (I fully intend to come back to m43 and get this lens to start out)
Totally agree. This is the #1 best all around lens IMHO if you want (1) Leica rendering; (2) small and light; (3) sharpness; and (4) affordable. Other lenses offer different strengths such as more (not necessarily better) bokeh and better sharpness wide open (eg 75mm f1.8 and the f1.2 primes) but the rendering of the 25mm (like other PLs) is unique - Leica style - and demonstrates that illusive ‘3D pop’.
I am a full frame user, lately I am starting to be curious about m43, if you use a full frame camera, please comment on your experience with both. Should I try m43 too?
I have canon 5D III and LUMIX G9. I have 9 MFT lenses including this 25mm. MFT is excellent. I think having both FF and MFT is the best of both worlds. I would love the G9II. I will probably get it once the price drops a bit.
I came from a canon r6mkii with all the rf lenses. Rf85 f1.2 was the best lens that i have ever owned. Ditched all of them and switched to the om1 mki em1 mkii and gx85. With 9 amazing lenses.(some pro lenses) cost is still less than half of the price of the r6mkii and the rf 85 1.2😅 lowlight is decent, general photography it is amazing. Lighter setup. Cheaper. Even kit lenses produces amazing photos. Try it and you won't regret it.

Do you have any examples of this lens with the G9II?

Nothing mentioned about direct back light handling capabilities where this lens really shines.

Does either the Mark 1 or 2 have an aperture ring?
No.
Get mark II, it's weather sealed. Mark I is not. That said, I bought mark I when it released and still have, still enjoy it.
Thanks. I didn't know about that. I think ii also has improved flair resistance correct?
@@Princeton_James Other than the weather sealing, they are exactly identical. There is no difference in optics.
Hiya. Does this lens have stabilization? Thanks
No!
50mm focal length does NOT need stabilization. No system has.
Pana Leica Summilux 25mm f/1.4 is good, just think the motor focusing is a bit noisy and not really fast.
Have you used it with a Panasonic camera?
@@sam_9228 hi, I am using OM camera
All that talk and you just showed 3 pictures from it....
$600 Stop down to F2 for best sharpness and no weather seal. Easy pass.
