Just bought this lens as my fuji 56mm needs repairing and had a music video shoot booked for today, and getting my fuji repaired would take a longer time, and cost more to repair than buying this . I still intend to fix my fuji 56mm, but I have to say this lens performed really well on the shoot. There was some hunting when shooting video, but the stills performance was excellent so I'm pleased to have this lens in my kit bag.
Between this and the Viltrox 56mm 1.7 which is better and why? Which one has more character and artsy bokeh? I am not into clinical sharpness and corner to corner sharpness at wider apertures. I prefer lenses that give me an atmosphere, something different, like different pencils to create art. I have TTArtisan 50mm 1.2, TTArtisan 27mm 2.8 AF, 7artisans 25mm 1.8, Kamlan 21mm 1.8 (had the Kamlan 28mm 1.4 algo great), Pergear 35mm 1.6 all for Fuji, and then a bunch of vintage lenses with great character. In this focal distance I have the Konica Hexanon 57mm 1.4 which has the most amazing busy impressionist bokeh. I don’t do video. I have a X-T2. So, having this in mind, which of the two lenses would you recommend?
The Viltrox lens is sharper, has better autofocus, and shows almost no chromatic aberrations. However, the TTArtisan lens is a better option if you’re looking for something with more character.
This was a quick simple review,Loved it. I see the focus bouncing , is it possible if I want smooth focusing. Say for example, I have a subject kept on a table,50cms away from the lens.. then I slowly take it away.. all the way to 2 mtrs(or vise-versa), will it be able to hold up the focus? can you please test that if possible, I am planning to get this for food videography.
Hi Andryi, I own the TtArtisan 27mm, 35mm and am expecting the 56mm. One thing i will say about these lenses. They dont disappoint at all. Not perfect, bit soft at times, AF is reasonable and the price makes it quality for money. Waiting for the 90mm f/1.4 now for 200 bucks :) keep on posting!
Probably for a few extra 100$ you could get a weather sealed far better lens maybe from like samyang tho. Collecting them all from ttartisans probably not the best idk
I bought one, and it’s super sharp for portraits. It feels really solid and offers the best bang for the buck.
I am glad you like it!
Thanks for the review. The value for money on this lens is unreal. I didn’t expect it to be this sharp, especially for close-ups!
It is a great budget lens.

Great!
I own TTArtisan 35mm f1. 8 and I never regret buying it. At its price you get beautiful portrait images.
It is a good lens!

Has someone already found a fitting cap for the lenshood? :)
awesome review sir! Would love to see a side by side comparison with the new viltrox 56mm.
Thank you! I will make a comparison in the near future.
What new 56mm?👀

Hi Paul! Yes, they are pretty good for the price.

How does it compare to the viltrox 56mm 1.7? Very curious.
I think the Viltrox is a bit sharper wide open but not by much.
how is it comparing to Sony 50mm f1. 8 oss?
I don't know, I don't use Sony.
This is very good lens, decent optical quality +1
Yes it is!
It is a very nice review Andrei Big like 😉
Thank you! Cheers!
Looks like classic chrome is your favourite film simulation ;)
Yes, I use it the most.
Great video mate
Thank you!
Which one do you prefer, This TTartisan or Meike 55mm f1.4 AF?
Both have good image quality but I prefer the Meike because it has an aperture ring!
How is it compared to 50mm f2
I think the 50mm f2 is a hair sharper at f2 and has better AF.
Another great review, thanks! What's your opinion about this lens versus the Viltrox 56 1.7?
Thank you! I tested the Viltrox on 20mp camera so it is hard to say. Maybe the Viltrox is slightly sharper wide open.
@@AndreiDimaReviews okay and what about compared with the sigma 56mm 1.4?
@@WVMUSIC_NL I think the Sigma has the best image quality but the worst AF.
@@AndreiDimaReviews hm well i usually have mine on single point af but this ttartisan is a really great new budget option, so it seems!
FujiFanBoys comparison says this one is better than Viltrox..
