    I have bad enough disk issues and repetitive stress injuries that I switched to a left handed mouse so I could compute w/o pain (I am right-handed). My problems are relatively minor, and I adapted. When I see tech like this I imagine that there's someone out there who maybe can't even sit at a desk and feels cut off from the person they were. I hope that how we interact with technology continues to evolve so that everyone can be included.

    • @SomeGadgetGuy

      I am that person. Sort of. Overworking at my computer for years gave me serious spine issues, so I can’t sit at my desk for long hours anymore. I have to take frequent breaks that sometimes hampers productivity. And I have to transition between Sitting and standing too. Also I avoid working on devices like phones or tablet because looking down and working is a no no. I used to draw and paint before. But because of my spinal condition, I’ve had to give it up. I also yearn for a more mobile lifestyle and being able to work on the go, so I bought one of the ar glasses to solve most of these problems. But instead of Roku’s I bought nreal. Let’s see how it goes :) btw if your mouse or keyboard are bugging you, you might wanna check out wearable input devices like tap strap and tap xr by a company called tap with us. I bought tapstrap2 and it’s pretty impressive as a wearable typing device.

    I've had these for some months now, they're fantastic. I haven't traveled a lot so they haven't seen as much use as I expected but with Ready For and these, you can game like nobody's business. They need a way to cover the lenses up fully though for video viewing; I'm going to 3D print a visor, I've seen one or two out there.

Also, while watching Apple's WWDC 2023 I noticed that the emphasis on Vision Pro was more directed towards entertainment, while Microsoft HoloLens is more tailored to industry related field such as Construction, Science, Medicine, and lots of Professional fields.

      It's not too bad really. They're lighter on the face than the old HUD glasses I used to wear (focals by north). The nose took a bit of adjusting to find a good fit without pinching, but I've been OK for longer play sessions. Longest stretch was almost three hours. The weight is less a concern than the heat. If you run them at max brightness, they do get a bit warm.

    • @Spearra
      @Spearra Год назад +3

      That's what kills me about the current state of the techie game.
      They complain whenever smartphones don't have heavy specs and are rather lean on them, but then those same "lean specs" would absolutely be overkill for how most techies end up actually using the phones.
      Now for reference, CAD software while still in its infancy Google Playstore wise, is still improving and you know, exists unlike those synthetic benchmark tests that arguably don't even tell us anything useful in terms of real usage.
      So its not even difficult to think of "heavy use cases" these days for a smartphone.
      The Genshin Impact tutorial is not a heavy use case technies. lmao

    In my last comment I forgot to mention this but for anyone who has this device or similar on Android:
    The VLC video player does something magical and recognizes USB C glasses as an external display for media only. So if you have local video on your phone it doesn't do a screen mirror it just sends the video to the glasses. This is awesome because VLC takes way less battery than the screen mirror or Rokid Air app and allows your screen to turn of entirely while sending the video. I've not got hard numbers but I estimate it's 10% to 25% less battery usage than just dimming your phone screen - pretty big deal on long flights.

  • @nitro6002
    @nitro6002 Год назад +1

    Love to see this review, I have a pair and it's spot on. I saw them at CES and wanted to give them a shot. My main thing is that they have the same display and tech as the Lenovo A3, for a fraction of the price. I think Lenovo spent *a lot* more time on the software so the integration with windows is better, but alas I don't have those. The Rokids absolutely rock for entertainment, I used them on a plane ride and it was exactly as you described.
    I've not found them as I would want them for several hours of productivity, marvelous for entertainment and in a pinch to connect up to my computer. I only got to try and early prototype of the NReal glasses, has anyone here used them recently by chance? I need a larger display for my work when I travel so I have a 17", but would love to move to a 15" with a pair of glasses like this vs a portable display.

    So, earlier today during Juan's Twitch stream, I said I would post an idea for Samsung' premium phone strategy. Here it is:
    Standard S/Flip: Same SoC as the A7? of that year, but in a smaller body, nicer build, better cameras (losing quantity for quality), 90hz refresh rate, minimum of 8gb RAM and 256gb ROM, and more premuim features like DeX while trying to maintain the same battery life as that A7? phone. "All the power you need in a small form factor".
    S+: A 1-2 year old flagship SoC, same build quality as the standard S of that year, bigger size and battery,120hz refresh, same premium features as standard S, same storage minimum with 12gb RAM, and better selfie camera. "A little bit bigger, but a little bit nicer".
    Note: Just call it the "S23 Note" instead of the ultra.
    Fold: Same as the Note, but reduce the display refresh rates to 90hz for better battery life. and less heat.
    Things that would benefit all phones here:
    SD Card Slot
    Headphone Jack
    Faster Charging
    Charger brick in the box
    ultrawide selfie cameras for that motion tracking that Motorola has on Ready For
    ir blaster
    This is my idea for how Samsung should handle their premium phones from now on. What else do you guys think should they do?
