  • If you've followed my channel to any degree, you know I have an affinity for cool, interesting, unique (and old) reloading tools. In the reloading community, there are just SO many ways to do a particular task and that's one of the more interesting facts of reloading to me.
    So in my quest to find my 12 gauge shotshell hull trimmer, I had a few requirements:
    1. Compact
    2. Effective (they all should be and probably are, but do so differently)
    3. Appealing design
    So many trimmers hit one or two of my requirements (none seemed too appealing to me) until I found only one really hit my mark (especially appealing design!) and that was Creative Reloading Solutions' trimmer. This thing is functional art and simply stunning as far as a reloading tool goes. Worth the wait (I found this months before Christmas and had it on my Christmas list, but it was out of stock) and the cost.
    Got on their waiting list and as soon as Rudy notified me, I was online with my CC. Arrived days later and as you can see, this is a pretty cool trimmer.

      "Pure quality workmanship that’s a pleasure to use !!!!" is an understatement. Rare these days and quite refreshing to come across product(s) with those characteristics.

    You use that cutter trimmer with spent primers in hulls. I know i own all but 10ga and 16ga trimmers

    I got mine so when the hulls start cracking I trim them down & roll crimp.Rudy also set me up with a shorter pilot so I can trim them down to 2 1/4 in length.

    Hello Re Loader, Rudy (CRS) makes great shotgun reloading tools. I have two of his shell trimmers (12 & 20 ga). One comment, these trimmers are setup to run inside the dead primer. If you have the primer out, the trimmer will cut the shell too short (see Rudy's video). PS ... I do enjoy your videos.

      Thanks for the heads up on the primer. Was thinking I'd resize first (like brass), but it makes sense for the guide to "rest" in the primer.

    Tehre should be primer in the hole. As its suppose to press against the old primer. Not the hole itself.

    Yes, Bruce is correct. The shell must have a dead or spent primer in it in order to use the CRS Trimmer. If not, it will eventually damage the aluminum pilot in the steel primer hole. ruclips.net/video/2pPe_jStYLw/видео.html
    Thank you for your positive video review and happy reloading! Rudy CRS

      Can this tool trim wads as well?

    • @CreativeReloadingSolutions
      @CreativeReloadingSolutions 2 года назад

      @@njgrplr2007 No, it isn't designed to trim wads, it is designed to trim and straighten the tops of shotgun hulls. If you're cutting wads for shotgun slugs I've always used a pair of scissors. - Rudy

      @@CreativeReloadingSolutions Thanks for the response. I'm looking for something to trim 1/4" off TPS cushioned wads so they can be used in 3" shells. My current process is to use a 4-blade broadhead to start slitting the petals. I use scissors to continue cutting the petals to the desired depth and then trim 1/4" off the end of each petal. I'm looking for some tools to speed up the process and improve consistency.
