DIY 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe Window Regulator Replacement
When you own an old vehicle (20+ years old) it's not a question of if something will break or fail, but when it will fail.
I have a 2001 Chevy Tahoe I picked up in 2020 for a few reasons. The Tahoe reminded me (SUV size wise) of a 2000 Ford Expedition that was a great vehicle for us as a family with many fond memories and a very useful vehicle. Stumbled across the Tahoe right when the cough started and it had 42,000 miles and was in absolutely minty (for its age) condition. Too hard to pass up. Figured it would be the biggie SUV we no longer had.
All has worked out well in terms of reliability and things not breaking down. One afternoon last fall I went to open the windows for some fresh,...

1950 Delta Unisaw Restoration: Miter Gauge, Fence & Handles - Dis/reassemble, Clean, Polish & Paint

These were actually the first parts of my new acquired 1950 Delta Unisaw that I decided to begin my restoration efforts on. Since they were relatively small, I could dive in and figure out what I think I wanted to do paint scheme wise. Although the cabinet and many components were painted machine gray, there were a number of parts that had a black finish (most notably the 75lb - ask me how I kn...
DWX Compact DIY Trigger Job & Range Test

I wasn't a fan of the 4 pound trigger pull on the DWX Compact. Since I had success with the Prodigy trigger job and I had "extra" parts (one can never have too many extra parts), I figured I'd attempt to do the same with the DWX trigger. This video is my attempt to take a 4 pound pull down to less than 3 pounds. Spoiler alert...SUCCESS!

Ryobi Battery & Free Too Deal - Too Good to Pass Up!

In many cases these days, battery operated shop tools are sold "tool only" to not only keep costs down but to also have you buy more batteries because, let's be honest, that's where the money is! • @ReLoadersBench

I have a roll of blue painters tape that is 1/4" wide that is perfect for masking off tight/thin/small areas. I bead blasted the top then used steel wool to get the finish I wanted before masking off and painting it. Made the best sense since the paint would always be scraping off any time it was moved/rotated and locked down.

All my reloading (and quite a few other larger tools) presses and bigger components have custom made covers. I pick up the heavy canvas (10 ounce+) aka duckbill at a local fabric store (mix/match colors or what's on sale) and then take the material to a local tailor with my "design" and about a week later I have a very durable and long lasting cover for less than what a cheesy plastic non-custom fitting generic version would cost.

LED issues on #1, digital keypad issues on #2 and no issues on #3 (and this video is 3+ years old). They never prevented me from access, the benefit or exact point of a digital/analog combo lock (technically it worked EXACTLY AS DESIGNED - when the digital keypad was problematic, the analog/mechanical functioned perfectly - just try and open your safe with a mechanical lock when you're in a hurry...easier said than done unless you play games like always leaving it near the last number for a slight turn). As you learned, no guarantee on ANY safe lock (do a Internet search on failed MECHANCIAL locks) since your digital failed. And now they are $600, nice. Got and continue to get my values worth.

And yes that was with kids and then grandkid there. Heck I didn't even own a safe until kids were all gone. The odds of a quality mechanical lock failing suddenly are almost infinitesimal compared to the regularity of e-locks doing so. And most that do are decades old and simply worn out. Which give warning signs prior. Unlike my digital that gave up the ghost with no warning at all. Just north of MSRP/retail, so it wasn't too painful. They laughingly (I was literally laughing at prices I first saw for PPT's) started at $5k when first available "locally" and the hype was off the charts. I waited a year for the dust to settle and the price premium to collapse (nice pew pew, but even at MSRP it's priced too high IMO). I just uploaded my DWX Compact trigger job video. I purchased my mini mill DROs from Little Machine Shop. They offered two (2) variations with the only difference between the two being the thread pitch of the rods/drawbolts you would be replacing on your existing cross and compound slides. You need to match the same thread pitch. The description usually states what types of mini lathes the DRO is compatible with. I liked this approach better than wiring a hard connected DRO. For my skill/needs, this was a good solution for me.

This aggravating shit is why I opted out of the progressive loading press. Reloading ammo should be a relaxing enjoyable activity. Not the shit you have going with that nightmare. No thank you very much.😎

Hi, have you found a solution to reduce the force to be applied to the rotation of the dro's handlebars??

I purchased a new cross slide that I was going to re-thread to more closely match the threads of the DRO "bolts"...but the cross slide was ultimately the incorrect size. Haven't revisited the issue as it hasn't bugged me enough.

Why cover up the serial number? I have a 1918 Colt "black army" is someone going to try and track me down? In fact my "black army" was purchased in Chicago in the mid 1960's for $20. The front strap was hand checkered and all of the serial numbers milled off including under the firing pin retainer. I called the ATF and they said if its older than 1968 which the "heart shaped" plunge mill marks prove. they just dont care. Serial numbers were for inventory purposes. I love your pistol! My 1911 was upgraded by Al Capone's son and I leave it as it is. Though the metallurgy of the slide is a bit soft its a terrific shooter and is hell of accurate! I will probably send my grandfather's 1901 Marlin 1897 to Turnbull some day. Great videos!

Thanks. I’m a big fan of Turnbull’s work, not so much a fan of the cost of their work. But, you get what you pay for. I cover up serial numbers out of habit, just prefer to keep certain things to myself.

Isgine how many sales LR lost by coming out with their LX unit 6 months after Garmin. We all charge over to Garmin in the last 8 months, and not looking back.
