  • These were actually the first parts of my new acquired 1950 Delta Unisaw that I decided to begin my restoration efforts on. Since they were relatively small, I could dive in and figure out what I think I wanted to do paint scheme wise. Although the cabinet and many components were painted machine gray, there were a number of parts that had a black finish (most notably the 75lb - ask me how I know its weight - Bullet motor).
I finally decided on a hammered or hammer tone black finish for what I'm calling the accent parts (wheels/handles, miter gauge, fence, motor, sides of table top, etc.). I've seen other restorations in complete gray (a bit boring to me), some in complete white (didn't look right to me) and then with some color accents (which I think make it stand out a bit more).
So in this video I take apart (mostly for documentation and reassembly ease) the fence (quite a few pieces surprisingly), show what I did with the miter and wheel handles as well as discuss the lacquer finish product (love that stuff from Mohawk).
