I used a 15/16" hole saw to drill a hole in the bottom of my clear plastic powder bottles and put a plastic plug (T-13) in it, like the ones in the MEC shotgun reloader powder & shot bottles. Rolled up a piece of 100 grit sandpaper to to smooth the hole. Works great. Just take the plug out to top up the powder w/o disturbing the setup. I also bought some larger 625cc (21oz) clear bottles (w/caps) with 53/400 thread size (same thread/cap size as a std container #1 of powder comes in & the Lee powder bottle adapter) from US Plastics. No need to empty out the powder when finished reloading, just screw the cap on & put it on the shelf 'til next time. Cost w/shipping & tax for 12ea Bottles, screw-on caps & plugs was $33.84 ($2.82 per bottle/cap). Get a buddy or two and split the costs. Disclaimer: I'm not associated with US Plastics or any other vendors, and don't receive royalties from anyone. Just an avid reloader sharing my solutions.
I just received my New Deluxe. I disassembled it completely and polished it with Mother's aluminum metal Polish and will tomorrow chuck up the stim of drum and smooth it out with 0000 steel wool. I was going to use 600 grit sand paper, but another RUclipsr recommended steel wool. So I hope this helps someone else
I had one of the tabs holding the body of the measure to the red adapter break off while charging a case. The powder hopper launched like a rocket spewing powder everywhere. And of all powders it was my trail boss. I don’t like the bottle adapter style hopper but it’s the only one I will use with the auto drum from now on. At least most of the powder would have been contained when it flew off. Just something to consider. Good luck.
Lee must have realized that clear powder hopper was one giant step away from convenient.
