It would’ve been a great twist for Rasputin to betray the villain and reveal he was the true mastermind, manipulating things like a puppeteer in the theater of war. It’d be fitting, as Rasputin manipulated his way into power in the royal family, gaining their trust and favor until he practically ruled Russia. That prospect became so worrying to certain officials that they tried to have Rasputin assassinated. Several times. Some even thought the freezing rivers of Russia wouldn’t have killed him.
Villain threatens to slit Rasputin’s throat: Rasputin: “my friend, I have died four times at this point. Death and I are will aquatinted friends, I am no longer phased when he wishes to play a joyful game of tag, or a dance of death”.
This scene really reminded me of that scene from Reservoir Dogs when the characters are given their specific color names but given the rings instead here. Rasputin is upset he's given tortoise and wants to trade with someone like Mr Pink did.
Not making Rasputin the villian of this film was the biggest mistake they made. I have zero interest in the faceless Scotsman character.
