I have 2 mamba x esc, and 2 sw4, I wish I would have waited for this esc, but mamba x sure does kick butt in my monster truck...i know some people dont like the noise, but its kinda fun
Somebody has seen a Barber. 1st time since Covid ? looking good! once again very useful info! Best description of the differences between the ESCs that I have heard!
Just cut the wires and twist and solder the wire for the switch. That way it’s always ON, and you just unplug the battery to turn it on/Off. The power switches on them are know to fail, are hard to reach at times, and can be turned off if you roll your rig over or some how snag the switch if it’s unsecured. Also the contacts inside the switch just wear out. Basically removing the switch just fail proofs it, and they just aren’t needed since you should be unplugging your batteries anyway.
Just Picked up 2 of the Copperhead 10 with the Slate 1406 3800KV, one is going in my VS4-10 Ultra Build in June, the other may go into my Capra in place of a HW Axe FOC R1 2300kv after I finish the Build now. It will be interesting to see the difference in the Capra, after I run the HW for awhile.
John I thought you said you were coming out with a quiet version in conjunction with castle of the copperhead or did I misunderstand you ? I can't find anything on your website? Thanks
And I just purchased 2 Mamba X esc's...I usually like to go bigger incase I switch the ESC application and don't want to spend more money on something else. As always, great video John and I will be the one of many in the line waiting for your ESC. Hope your having a great weekend and the revolver was much louder than I liked in my Trx4 with the Mamba X. Is there a good thread on how to delete the on/off switch and still have the ESC waterproof? Thanks
Great video thanks! I'm having an issue with a Mamba X 1406-2280kv that I've installed into a new TF2 87'XtraCab. I'm noticing it chatters or stutters at ultra low throttle inputs when meeting resistance in both Smart sense and Sensored mode. When the truck rolls up to an obstacle and the wheels start to work it starts to chatter. I'm using the supplied rc4wd tf2 lwb pinion that came with the kit. I'd be really grateful if you've got any ideas as to what may be the cause. It's such a beautiful truck and I've put a lot of work into making the mamba X 2280 combo fit. Had to run new motor wires and make 90 degree bullets which ended up giving me around 1/32" to spare under the truck bed for the esc. The truck does behave completely normal at any speed above a crawl. Thanks for your time!
So this, or your upcoming sensored-capable ESC for a sensored crawler? :) Will the HH one have an aux wire? That's kind of nice to be able to switch drag brake or whatever else firmware allows.
John is one of my favorite people. You are vital for the RC INDUSTRY, - PLEASE KEEP UP WITH THE "OTHER" COMPETITION, SIR. 😉🤘 FOREIGN & DOMESTIC !! - Thankyou for all you do John !!!! 😁
So yes I had one in my cart and got distracted on the first run when I looked back they were sold out lol The description says Sensored only and Brushed Modes correct ?
What would you guys recommend for a revolver sw4 or copperhead. I have the money maybe the mamba x. I just want the best low speed control possible. Thanks
well john i thought i had a switch failure n i did ... but im still having cutout of my copprrhead 10.. would it be from setting my cutoff at the higher setting as per your programming segestion? im going to try setting it back to the lower 3 something i think it was.. and turning on my alarms.. i cut n soildered the switch as it wouldnt shut off with it anymore anyway..lol. n still cuts off yet steering works till unplugged n replugged.. this wouldnt be convenient. in a comp situation lol
I really hope you can help do something with the software on the micro x to get rid of the whine like you have done with the copperhead. Please John we beg you, I love the revolver v2 but that noise can get annoying.
Yes great new ESC from Castle Creations...got one in my LMT now testing ..MIT be a little small wow it proforms far better then the HW I had in there ...
question for ya. my copper head 10 shows me a green light when i go forward. and a red light when i go backwards.? is that normal? shoud it give me green when i reverse? thanks!
Hello, I have assembled a copperhead castle combo and it does not accelerate me. A single beep sounds every x time. If I do it, it sounds forced even when I am free from the engine.
anyone else have problems with the snake head paint literally falling off from the soft touch of a finger? mine is completely wore off and its brand new i havent even ran it.. the paint just fell off just from handling it.. like what is that? they have a 2 year old in the art department?
- Too much moo-la ($$$) for a ESC ....that does NOT have as much data-logging & adjustment(s) !! 🤔 I hope for that amount of money, this has more adjustment than the Hobbywing 1080 ESC !!

Dang John looking clean cut for summer
Nice look John. Just got a Copperhead and appreciate your thoughts; but, really want your new silent ESC for my Revolver-based crawlers.
I am another one who really likes the Aux wire function. No drag brake for trailing and full drag brake for on the rocks.
This is the only channel to head to of you want to (really) know how things work. Direct to the engineer that makes them.
I’ve been using the copperhead for my last two crawling sessions and it’s been performing absolutely great.
I love my copperhead 10. Never runs above 120F👍 I took the fan off and put in on my puller pro 3500 to help with the temps👌
I have 2 mamba x esc, and 2 sw4, I wish I would have waited for this esc, but mamba x sure does kick butt in my monster truck...i know some people dont like the noise, but its kinda fun
Great summary! Just got mine in for the Ryft. 😊👌🏼

yeah, first since covid, lol!
@@HolmesHobbies I thought it was the Covid cut! lol!
Hi John. Any updates on your version of the Copperhead 10? Do you have a release date? Thanks
Great video. Could you explain the removal of the on/off switch (how to). And why it fails on crawlers? Keep up the good work.
Just cut the wires and twist and solder the wire for the switch. That way it’s always ON, and you just unplug the battery to turn it on/Off. @@chevyon37s I never knew this was possible I hate my switch on my Mamba X always getting in the way. Wonder if this voids CCs warranty... 🤔
Got the copperhead, love it paired with the revolver. Now just waiting on the ESC. No more noise
I wonder when it will be in stock and if they won’t sell out in a day love all the Holmes products just wish more was available....
Went shopping for the Copperhead and bought the Sidewinder 4
Have one in my ryft and I love it
Is the quiet mode software available yet? For the copperhead and or the mamba x?

Can you use the Copperhead Esc with a brushed motor?
John I thought you said you were coming out with a quiet version in conjunction with castle of the copperhead or did I misunderstand you ? I can't find anything on your website? Thanks
I bought mine as a combo with a 2850kv, ran it on a 4s n grinded my diff gear sets, lol, can't wait to see the future upgrades yall are doing
I love the auxiliary wire option of the mamba X. I use it to adjust drag brake percentage on the fly, I use that option a lot.
Same, I wish cheaper ESCs had them it's hard to not use it when you are used to it lol
Looking dapper with the new do!
Or old do, based on his opening statement, but thats what I first noticed
Fixin to start a gspeed v3 build soon. Believe the copperhead will fit the bill pretty good. Thanks for the great info john!
I’m patiently waiting for that Holmes copperhead/oem controller.
I’m still hoping for your version that you mentioned in the video. Will we see it soon? 😀
- Mr. Holmes is ON IT !!!! 👍🤘😁
Lookin' sharp, Mr. Holmes. Pretty cool ESC for sure :)

do you need an external BEC for high powered servos like the SHV800 on the copperhead?
What are the differences between the SW3 and the SW4? Going into a rock bounce
John you freak me out. Everytime I watch a video I'm not sure if I'm getting nappy ass lumberjack look or the Bible salesman.🤷♂️🤷♂️🤣🤣🤣
Think I'll be getting one of these for the trailmaster pro 2700kv I just ordered.
Really want to see a head to head of this and the Axe system.
Also, stop cutting your hair you clean hippie.
Are you and castle going to create any esc for drag racing?

would love to know how the mamba-x micro compares to the copperhead. if only running 3s and 2700-kv
They would be quite similar, a little more drag brake from the copperhead

Is anyone running this in a 1/16 E-Revo ?
Who's this guy I clicked on the video I seen John standing there I was like he had hair the last time I swear he did lol
Didn't bob Vila sell these in the 80s
Knock on wood, I have several corded X esc's with the cord & I've yet to run into any issues, fingers🤞🏼 tho.....
