Does anyone, really? This is truly based on my experience and I really enjoyed being able to sit down and just chat with you all as if you were right here with me about all things classroom management. These things have really worked for me in the classroom and I use these methods daily--it's part of our routine! Comment one of your favorite classroom management tips or tools--the comment section can serve as a resource for anyone who needs it. Thanks for always being here. Sending light + love. x britt

thanks so much for this! i will be a first year teacher next year, and i feel so inspired. honestly, if my students and i are going to be together every day for 180 days, why should it be a miserable experience? i want them to associate learning with fun. not that it should be all games, but i want them to know that school and life doesn’t have to be boring.

I absolutely love this. I’m going into my 4th year for music education and my biggest goal is always humanizing myself as a teacher and making my students feel welcome. Thank you so much for the great video and I love the suggestion that you made about being enthusiastic about any question and every question, thank you so much! ☺️

I love everything in this video particularly about "the praise". I like that part very well because I haven't found the perfect words to utter when my students give the wrong answer. Now I know that it's okay to tell them they are wrong but in a positive way. Thank you. ❤️🧡💛

This entire video has blown my mind! (And I’ve been teaching for about 13 years.) Thank you for this & just know it is inspiring and invigorating to even those of us who have been in the game a while. My PDP goal this year is to re-focus on the interpersonal side of teaching/socioemotional stuff. (I dropped the ball on that last year in covid mode.) And this fits perfectly with it. Has given me a lot of great ideas. This pandemic has shown me that this interpersonal/being human aspect-and nurturing it-is more important than ever before in education, so it’s made me rethink a lot. I’m also already (I think) pretty good at establishing relationships with my students, but there’s always room to grow and improve. Your positivity is inspiring, especially after me being in a profession that has felt so heavy the past two years. Very grateful for you and your students are lucky to have you!

So wise! I'm been in public education since 1991 and seen great classroom management and not so great. As a middle school Special Education teacher, my philosophy is to make sure students know I care, try to build relationship with them (some kids just don't want to open up), be authentic (I even tell my age, because I don't want them to think I'm hiding anything), be consistent, and provide external motivation until they have intrinsic motivation. I love my new bracelets...you should keep them linked!

Wow I love your values and how you manage your class ☺️ I think you’re succeeding at being the teacher you wanted as a student ❤️. I have one small thing; be careful with the essential oils and glade plug ins! Lots of people like myself are severely allergic to fragrance and makes us very sick. I could see a student not wanting to say anything if everyone else loves the smells because they don’t want to be the one to “ruin the fun” for others. I would make sure there’s a way a student could share that with your privately so there is no repercussions with their peers if you need to stop using fragrances 🙂

RUclips Radial Timers are my favorite! They make a little dinging sound each minute which can be annoying, so I open calming music in one tab and the radial time in another. The only catch is that I have to be vigilant so I catch it when it goes off since the sound is muted.

Brittany, I appreciate your positivity and how passionate you are. But, girl, are we teaching in the same country ?! Because how?! This is my 5th year teaching and I am sooo burnt out. I do not feel I teach. I was just like you when I started and I truly love teaching, but the kids do not want to learn. Their apathy, the daily disregard, disrespect, tardiness , fights, social media drama, lack of participation, lack of motivation, on top of stealing , destroying, breaking, etc . How do you stay positive ? I love teaching and had a similar mind when I first started. I viewed teaching as a magical thing and believed if I build rapport with my students, things will be okay. I know things will not be perfect. But not all students want to be build rapport with you. I am myself, silly and playful and get judged by some students. I build rapport with many of my students and try to be understanding, just to have them take advantage of me, view me as a friend and want to skip class just to hang out in my classroom and try to talk smack about other teachers. Of course, I can't accept this. It got to the point that I even got in trouble with other teachers because I was trying to help my students , but the kids like to create drama with everybody. I created a calm corner , bought fidgets, created an "affirmation station" but my students didn't want to say the affirmations. They have no interest whatsoever. Some even stole and broke my fidgets. This has happened every year since I started because just like you, I want to be positive and view teaching as magical. But girlie, it is so hard when students are vulgar. It is challenging when the kids refuse to do the work. It is difficult when they do not participate , but when it comes to their little fights and who they "gonna drag " they are perfectly fine communicating. I am not teaching at this point. I feel I am not. I am burnt out. I accepted a new position and hope things will be better. I hate this person I've become because I'm so happy and playful , but how?! How can I with these kids ? I feel I'm like a candle and these kids wash my light away. 😢
