UPDATE 31/08/2021: Battery life has vastly improved after a firmware update. From 18 hours I am now getting 1.5 - 2 day battery life which is much better than before.

Regarding BP test, the GW4 calibration instructions specifically state another device should not measure simultaneously on the same arm - which makes sense, since the cuff temporarily cuts off blood flow. I've found it to be quite accurate when tested properly. That said, I much appreciate this very thorough and clear review. Good work, thank you. And thank you also for placing your health first 👍🏽
Still rocking the original GW and it is running just fine - great battery life and while it lacks the some of the features of the younger models it does the job 👍

Just to say thank you for this review. Answered the questions I had about this watch now I'm considering buying it. Probably because of a software update since this review was done, but heart. rate can now be monitored constantly as can stress. Eats up battery power faster but might be useful. Not sure if anyone else has pointed out the fact that you are wearing the watch and measuring blood pressure on the same arm as you are putting a big inflating cushion which is creating pressure on your arm. I feel like that's going to skew your results... Maybe if you had the watch on one arm and the inflating pressure cushion on the other you may get a more accurate result.
As always, best reviewer for smart watches. The only thing I'm actually pretty annoyed about is the 20mm band. All the 22mm bands I have from previous watches won't work.
UPDATE! Got mine in the mail today; awesome watch aaaalmost everything we wanted. HATE the little strap though. Spigen has an armor case coming out for it that beefs it up for those of us who like slightly chunkier watches; which includes a thick strap built into the case. Just need google assistant to make an appearance and for ECG and BP to work in Canada, and it'll be the watch of my dreams. Legit though whoever at samsung decided to have 20mm band for the bigger watch is a moron lol

Great review, seems to be most feature packed and good health sensors, battery life is a worry coming from S3 but nothing else seems to close until other wear os 3 device becoming available, in a years time (Samsung have locked this in). Stay healthy man.

Let's say I'm going on a run without my phone - I agree that it's not necessary to have internet access, since you can still use gps and listen to music stored on the device. But: Let's say I trip and get hurt, or some other emergency occurs - with the LTE version I always have the peace of mind that I can call 911, even if I don't have the eSim activated. In fact, it'll do it for me when I'm unconscious using the fall detection. Imo this could save my or someone else's life which I'll happily pay 40 bucks more for
I was just pissed off that i found out after i brought it the LTE version has to be the same service provider as your phone. I have a prepaid phone and i thought the watch would be able to have its own service independent of my phone. Well, you live and you learn i guess.

Yes your right but I did test on same arm but one at a time, not at the same time. I did also switch arms afterwards to see if there was a major difference, and very similar results.
I was thinking to upgrade my Ticwatch Pro 3 to the Galaxy, but battery is a deal killer. The Ticwatch has absolutely fantastic battery life... we can't blame wear-os anymore for this, Ticwatch has shown how it's done. Just wish it had the rotating bezel.

I have been using the smaller watch4 classic and I've consistently had 36~38 hrs of battery, the battery life did get longer and more consistent after an update or two.
You're the only reviewer that told me I don't need the LTE version cause it'll just sync later thank you! I wasn't going to buy it if it didn't even track without LTE
Stress is part of the mix but diet and exercise will get you back on track. I had a the same issue October 2019. I stopped all alcohol, light exercise everyday(max 130 bpm heart rate). And less sodium and sugar and I'm down 45 lbs and feeling great! It took a year but you can do it man!
Fantastic video review of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 classic sir, I just received mine "the LTE" version a couple of days ago & like you said the quality & features are top notch compared to the competition with or without Wear OS based at similar or higher price range. This is only my third smart watch ever & my first Sammy watch but no Samsung phones, however all the ECG, body composition measurement, stress levels...etc seems to function with my Sony Xperia 1 M II but I haven't fully tested everything or taken it for a test run outdoors.

I'm surprised how close the heart rate, oxygen level and blood pressure is. Impressive! Just switch from an iPhone user of like 15 years to a fold 3 and I really like it.

Battery seems to be quite good , I've actually managed to get 2 full days and nights out of a full charge , when I first got it the battery was draining fast in 8 hours . That was only because the watch needs a full day of charge to calibrate usage
I've had this watch for 3 days now, the battery is way better than my old galaxy watch 3!!! Not sure what you talk about!! I suggest you update your watch as it must be the issue!!! I've done long walk yesterday morning a few miles ,then did the gym exercise in the evening for an hour with exercise activity on. Then went for a 2 miles quick run again with GPS on and I still had 50% battery left before I went to bed. This morning I was left with 43% but I had blood oxygen tracking on for sleep and snoring detection on too. This watch battery is way better than galaxy watch 3,and will last you two days with normal use!!!

@@frankw3123 Yeah, I second this! I'm also waiting for the pixel 6 but I currently have the pixel 4a 5G. I already have the normal galaxy watch 4. I had it on preorder and it arrived pretty early. I've had it for about 2 days now, and I can honestly say it is really fast and responsive for the initial set up is quite a bit though. If you don't have one, I would recommend creating a Samsung account with Samsung wearable and Samsung health and you're all set, but once you're set up it's fine. Everything from notification calls and messages come in very quickly, the wear OS side is slowly gaining more and more support so it will hopefully tie together nicely.
Great review! I've had my Galaxy Watch 4 for two days now and haven't even begun to learn all of its features. I'm coming from an original Galaxy Watch, so this is a nice upgrade. My only issue is battery life on my LTE version. I'd love a video with tips for saving battery while still enjoying the watch. Right now, I run a static watch face and take it off while sitting at my desk to add some charge from my phone so that I can sleep with it on.
Do you still use the watch? How much time on your battery you have now? Me I would disable all the health monitoring, maybe instead of sleep if you really want it ( how much would that give you? )
@@theperfectionist4702 I still use it every day. It doesn't charge very quickly, so I top off the battery before going to bed, then again in the morning when I'm in the shower.
There a few dumb things with this watch - like making the straps 20mm rather than 22mm, no assistant on launch and yeah I'm struggling with battery life myself. Got it a week early, tried it with AOD always ON , WiFi off, Tilt and Touch to wake Off and 4G off - no matter if i put the hr sensor on 24/7, 10 minute a read while still or off I get A day and half at best... but besides that it is really good watch still and I found myself Bixby is working just fine for me and what I need it to. I am actually glad I trade in my GW3 cus I am enjoying Google Pay, Maps and just having the playstore.

Dude whatsapp calls is not a watch issue or phone issue.. This is andriod issues since forever with any VOIP app calls.. Only iPhones can answer these calls from watch or any bluetooth devices.. I've been suffering with this long time with huawei and samsung stuff.. But whenever you connected this to iphone it works because they integrate the VOIP apps over their iphone calling app so its like normal call.. Nice review and you deserve my subscription ❤️❤️

There is no chance batery can stay alive 30h ...i ve got it yesterday and spent 16% of battery just in 43 min of running ( without always on display). In same time apple watch series 6 used 3% of battery with always display on. Thats shame.
I have the Galaxy Active 2 but my brother-in-law has the Galaxy 4 and has actually had some problems with it! He's experienced overheating and a variety of other issues. The Galaxy Watch 4 does do alot more than my Active 2. I think it's because it's running the Google Wear OS instead of Tizen 5.0 which is what my Active 2 is running after a major system update. I originally had the original Galaxy Watch with the physical rotatable bezel and it jammed, unable to be moved after awhile. The Active 2 has virtual bezel which I like a lot better. For now think I'm sticking with the Active 2 as it does everything I need.

I don't know if anyone knows the answer to this but I'm waiting for delivery of the Samsung Galaxy Book Pro (laptop) which has a charging pad for my (Samsung 🤣) phone - could this also charge the G4 watch? Also, what are the chances of being able to use the laptop to charge the other smartwatch I'm interested in - the TicWatch Pro 3. I got it today with verizon, got the 46 black classic version for like $430 +/-, so happy with it so far, i never new how good and helpfull it can be

Lte model is not available everywhere
So many reasons to get the LTE version! With such a small price difference it's actually crazy to NOT get the LTE model! (Where available of course).
Another plus for the LTE version you can add it to your phone plan and pay it off in payments instead of up front which I wouldn't be able to afford
I have the Watch4 Classic LTE. It can't get a cell signal when my other phones do. Go figure. Not happy.

Stress is part of the mix but diet and exercise will get you back on track. I had a the same issue October 2019. I stopped all alcohol, light exercise everyday(max 130 bpm heart rate). And less sodium and sugar and I'm down 45 lbs and feeling great! It took a year but you can do it man!
Fantastic video review of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 classic sir, I just received mine "the LTE" version a couple of days ago & like you said the quality & features are top notch compared to the competition with or without Wear OS based at similar or higher price range. This is only my third smart watch ever & my first Sammy watch but no Samsung phones, however all the ECG, body composition measurement, stress levels...etc seems to function with my Sony Xperia 1 M II but I haven't fully tested everything or taken it for a test run outdoors.

Cut sugar and refined/processed foods to get the pressure down. Going through this rn myself. Working out alone didn't help until I changed my diet.
I'm surprised how close the heart rate, oxygen level and blood pressure is. Impressive! Just switch from an iPhone user of like 15 years to a fold 3 and I really like it.

Battery seems to be quite good , I've actually managed to get 2 full days and nights out of a full charge , when I first got it the battery was draining fast in 8 hours . That was only because the watch needs a full day of charge to calibrate usage
You mean to keep the watch 100% charged on keep charging 1 day ,or what?

I've had this watch for 3 days now, the battery is way better than my old galaxy watch 3!!! Not sure what you talk about!! I suggest you update your watch as it must be the issue!!! I've done long walk yesterday morning a few miles ,then did the gym exercise in the evening for an hour with exercise activity on. Then went for a 2 miles quick run again with GPS on and I still had 50% battery left before I went to bed. This morning I was left with 43% but I had blood oxygen tracking on for sleep and snoring detection on too. This watch battery is way better than galaxy watch 3,and will last you two days with normal use!!!

@@frankw3123 Yeah, I second this! I'm also waiting for the pixel 6 but I currently have the pixel 4a 5G. I already have the normal galaxy watch 4. I had it on preorder and it arrived pretty early. I've had it for about 2 days now, and I can honestly say it is really fast and responsive for the initial set up is quite a bit though. If you don't have one, I would recommend creating a Samsung account with Samsung wearable and Samsung health and you're all set, but once you're set up it's fine. Everything from notification calls and messages come in very quickly, the wear OS side is slowly gaining more and more support so it will hopefully tie together nicely.

Great review! I've had my Galaxy Watch 4 for two days now and haven't even begun to learn all of its features. I'm coming from an original Galaxy Watch, so this is a nice upgrade. My only issue is battery life on my LTE version. I'd love a video with tips for saving battery while still enjoying the watch. Right now, I run a static watch face and take it off while sitting at my desk to add some charge from my phone so that I can sleep with it on.

Me I would disable all the health monitoring, maybe instead of sleep if you really want it ( how much would that give you? )
@@theperfectionist4702 I still use it every day. It doesn't charge very quickly, so I top off the battery before going to bed, then again in the morning when I'm in the shower.
There a few dumb things with this watch - like making the straps 20mm rather than 22mm, no assistant on launch and yeah I'm struggling with battery life myself. Got it a week early, tried it with AOD always ON , WiFi off, Tilt and Touch to wake Off and 4G off - no matter if i put the hr sensor on 24/7, 10 minute a read while still or off I get A day and half at best... but besides that it is really good watch still and I found myself Bixby is working just fine for me and what I need it to. I am actually glad I trade in my GW3 cus I am enjoying Google Pay, Maps and just having the playstore.

Dude whatsapp calls is not a watch issue or phone issue.. This is andriod issues since forever with any VOIP app calls.. Only iPhones can answer these calls from watch or any bluetooth devices.. I've been suffering with this long time with huawei and samsung stuff.. But whenever you connected this to iphone it works because they integrate the VOIP apps over their iphone calling app so its like normal call..

While other reviewers shows the battery life is 30-40 hours. 18 is still 2 hours better than the iwatch ;-)
There is no chance batery can stay alive 30h ...i ve got it yesterday and spent 16% of battery just in 43 min of running ( without always on display). In same time apple watch series 6 used 3% of battery with always display on. Thats shame.
I'm gettings an average of 32 hours. But I've only owned it for several days.

I have the Galaxy Active 2 but my brother-in-law has the Galaxy 4 and has actually had some problems with it! He's experienced overheating and a variety of other issues. The Galaxy Watch 4 does do alot more than my Active 2. I think it's because it's running the Google Wear OS instead of Tizen 5.0 which is what my Active 2 is running after a major system update. I originally had the original Galaxy Watch with the physical rotatable bezel and it jammed, unable to be moved after awhile. The Active 2 has virtual bezel which I like a lot better. For now think I'm sticking with the Active 2 as it does everything I need.

Probably one of the best reviews I've seen for a long time - thanks very much for that, it was particularly interesting to me as I'm pondering whether to buy a smartwatch, don't know what though although I was thinking of the Samsung G4 (not the Classic).
I don't know if anyone knows the answer to this but I'm waiting for delivery of the Samsung Galaxy Book Pro (laptop) which has a charging pad for my (Samsung 🤣) phone - could this also charge the G4 watch? Also, what are the chances of being able to use the laptop to charge the other smartwatch I'm interested in - the TicWatch Pro 3.
