We have waited over 7 months for the ability to run macOS in a virtual machine on M1 Macs. The wait is over!!! I'll walk you through the entire process and show you how you can try it out on your own M1 Mac. Let me know if you have any questions.👍
Thank you for the great tutorial! I just tried it up to the part where I had to build the project but realized I'm missing a developer subscription :( You don't know if there's any other virtualization software capable of running Monterey on Monterey on M1 Macs? UTM seems to specialize on running Linux and Windows, but I'm looking specifically for a macOS virtualization.
Has anyone been able to load a High Sierra or Mojave guest in Parallels v16 or 17 on M1 hardware running Monterey? I have several 32 bit apps that work great and am trying to avoid buying new 64 bit versions or subscription versions.
This is fantastic. If Apple's virtualization framework supports virtualization of other ARM based VMs at some point , we can kick Parallels and their bulls*** pricing to the curb where it belongs.
Mr Macintosh - I just found your channel and instantly subscribed. I have late 2013, early 2014 MacBook air and wanted to see if I could use a patch to either install the just-released public beta or maybe running it through parallels or VMware? I am brand new to this, so bear with me, but if you have any tips, suggestions or which of your videos would be best what I am looking to do, I would very much appreciate it. Thanks and best of luck with your channel!
Hello Jack, thanks for the sub! For your 2013 and 2014 they are both compatible with macOS Monterey and OpenCore Legacy Patcher. What you could do is install on a 2nd partition or hard drive so if it does not go well you could always remove it. You can see in my video that I am running a 2013 MacBook Pro and it runs great so you should not have to worry at all. Just backup your files first before you start 👍
@@Mr.Macintosh ran real bad at first but i figured out it was cause the hardware was set to 8GB / 8 core on my 8GB mac mini, kicked it down to 4 to its not fighting the OS for ram and its better than i expected, certainly enough to play with while official stuff gets worked out, thanks again for making this video!
One of the benefits that Windows has had over Mac is that Microsoft includes a hypervisor with the OS. No need to purchase or install anything to run VMs. With Mac OS, it's always been necessary to purchase or otherwise acquire third-party software such as Fusion, Parallels, VirtualBox, etc. If Apple provides a native hypervisor in MacOS (albeit for ARM-based guests), it could be a game changer. That could be the very reason VMWare has lacked urgency for delivering an ARM-based version of Fusion. The end may be in sight.
Looking Good, thanks so much for this Mr. Mac, my one issue is I can't sign in to my Apple ID, the ID and Password are correct , I've even tried resetting the password, but keep getting "Verification Failed - The action could not be completed" any idea how to resolve this? As I'm going to need to be able to download Apps in the VM to finish setting it up as a Dev sandbox
Can i run pirated softwares in this virtual machine? Because i don't want to install pirated softwares on my original machine . It will be safer right? To install piracy on virtual? To prevent my original pc from data stealing and malware attacks etc?
Hi , getting this is error, Error: Error Domain=VZErrorDomain Code=2 "A storage device configuration is invalid." UserInfo={NSLocalizedFailure=Invalid virtual machine configuration., NSLocalizedFailureReason=A storage device configuration is invalid., NSUnderlyingError=0x600000eebde0 {Error Domain=VZErrorDomain Code=2 "The storage device attachment is invalid." I understand this is a year ago but if this helps someone great, I just had to unmount the disk that was created on the desktop and I was able to proceed and the VM showed up in apple configurator.
hi, thanks for this extrodinary work, really appreciate it. but when I follow all your steps, I can't find anything in apple configurator 2, I am sure I followed your instructions here. can you help me with this?
That’s great! But why? The only application to my mind is stronger isolation using VM as main system and ditching Apple calling home by disabling SSV in VM. This should contain possible risks of SSV disabling to the VM only
@@Mr.Macintosh Hello, I am Gaurav and a developer of ibuntu which is a new Linux disto which looks exactly like macOS big sir , can u please do a video it please please. U can get ibuntu from ibuntuos.com . Looking forward for your review.

Can Model Identifier be changed so I can enroll the virtual Mac in ex, Intune?

I would also like to see a video about how to run macOS Monterey public beta in a VM on macOS Big Sur on an Intel Mac.

Any way to add a Host-Only network connection? Just a network connection between the Host and the Guest machines?
I don't see a library folder where I can access the data help

what about running macOS Big Sur using this method?
Did you get any answer if this is possible or not?
sound doesn't work for me is there a way to enable it or drive it thru the host machine?

Can we run Mojave in M1 via this way?
I have this question too.
I'm waiting for High Sierra to run on M1 (on any emulator or VM) so I can run 32bit apps/games
Wow, this is great, thanks for this tutorial!
You bet Jugibur, thanks!
can someone enlighten me as to why you need to do this? (i admit my ignorance)
Regarding your UPDATE! on 7/6/21 - could you add a video for that?

no DFU mode showed up, tried this for 3 times.
@Jason White thanks, man. you're the hero! all done. by the way, for this VM, is it fully isolated from the mac itself?
@jasonwhite6559 I can confirm that too, it even needed an eject, unmount only didn't work with me.
Will it be possible to install windows 10 ARM on this Xcode/Github program.
Daniel, not that I know of of but you can use other apps like QEMU or ACVM. I created videos on both 👍
This is amazing

Whats the point of running the same OS on the same OS host ? LOL
Sandboxing crapware, testing without affecting the host OS, development purposes, lots of reasons.
First
2nd!
